Xie Wei, by chance, learned from a system that his world had a 'Child of Destiny', and that he, Xie Wei, was like a minor supporting character with little screen time in a novel within this...
After getting dressed, Xie Wei received an unexpected phone call from Mu Yao.
"Uncle," came Mu Yao's somewhat dejected voice from the other end of the phone.
It was as if he had suffered some kind of blow; his voice wasn't as spirited as usual, and it sounded a bit like a wounded kitten gently scratching you.
"What happened? Were you bullied at school?" Xie Wei jokingly guessed. "This isn't like our little devil Mu Yao at all!"
"Uncle~" The voice on the other end of the phone sounded even more dejected.
"If you don't tell me, I'm hanging up," Xie Wei said helplessly.
"No, please!" Mu Yao quickly interjected, "Hey, sir, could you come to my school now?"
“Our senior year homeroom teacher asked us to come in, and you know about my mother’s situation,” Mu Yao explained.
Xie Wei looked at his pajamas and sighed.
"Wait for me a moment, I'll be right there."
Before long, Xie Wei appeared at the entrance of No. 1 Middle School, dressed in a white shirt, a silver-gray suit, and with his hair roughly tidied up to look more formal.
The moment Mu Yao saw Xie Wei, her eyes widened, and she circled around him.
"Uncle, have you become more handsome?"
Xie Wei gently pushed her head away as she leaned closer. "Sweet talk can't be anything good."
"I'm just telling the truth," Mu Yao blinked, looking at Xie Wei with a sincere expression.
Xie Wei ignored him and walked into her familiar alma mater.
Mu Yao wasn't actually flattering Xie Wei; his appearance had indeed become more refined due to his improved cultivation level, which had removed more impurities. However, the change wasn't obvious, and Mu Yao, who hadn't seen him for over a month, was able to notice it.
Mu Yao led Xie Wei to the teachers' office. Xie Wei glanced around and saw a boy and what appeared to be the boy's parent in the office. They seemed to have just finished talking.
"Teacher Liang?" Xie Wei saw a familiar figure; it was Xie Wei's Chinese teacher from high school.
"Hmm?" Teacher Liang adjusted her glasses, and when she saw who it was, her eyes widened in surprise. "Xie Wei!"
Xie Wei nodded, exchanged a few more pleasantries, and then the parent she was talking to left with her child.
The boy seemed reluctant to leave, turning his head to look into the office several times.
"What brings you here this time?" Teacher Liang finally asked the crucial question, glancing at Mu Yao and then at Xie Wei.
"I'm like a parent to Mu Yao; I'm kind of like an elder to her."
Teacher Liang nodded, after all, he was willing to believe Xie Wei, who was the top scorer in the college entrance examination at the time.
"Mu Yao has made great progress in this test, and it's clear that she put in a lot of effort during the summer vacation," Teacher Liang said, showing Xie Wei her report card from the beginning of the semester.
Xie Wei took it and glanced at it briefly. He understood the habit of his former teacher, who always taught him, and knew there would be a "but" after it.
"But," just as Xie Wei thought.
"Even if you've made progress, you must remain humble and not complacent. There's only one year left, and the school has emphasized the issue of early romantic relationships many times..."
Teacher Liang continued talking to herself, while Xie Wei turned to look at Mu Yao with a questioning look in his eyes.
"You're in a relationship?" Xie Wei mouthed to Mu Yao.
Mu Yao understood what he meant and shrugged. She had no idea about this matter. Teacher Liang only asked her parents to come over and didn't say what had happened. She had just asked Xie Wei to come over without knowing anything about it.
"This is a love letter that the classmate who just went out wrote to Mu Yao. It fell on the corner of your desk and I found it," Teacher Liang handed Mu Yao a letter with a heart-shaped cover.
Mu Yao was a little surprised. Normally, a teacher shouldn't give her this in this situation. Should she accept it or not?
Teacher Liang seemed to notice her confusion, took off his glasses, and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I promised him I would deliver this to you."
"My previous words were merely a form of advice. As your teacher, I will not interfere further with your decision."
"After all, someone still became the top student despite having a puppy love relationship," Teacher Liang said, glancing at Xie Wei.
"Isn't this all thanks to Teacher Liang's excellent teaching?" Xie Wei just scratched his nose awkwardly. Teacher Liang had talked to him about his early romance back then, but his grades were consistently good, and they even seemed to improve after he started dating. She couldn't do anything about it.
"I hope puppy love isn't part of your family's tradition," Teacher Liang glanced at Mu Yao, then looked at Xie Wei, and said with a hint of helplessness.
"No, our family's tradition has always been to prioritize studying hard, and everything else comes second."
"That's all I have to say. I've said my piece and handed in the letter. I originally wanted to ask my parents to supervise me, but seeing that it's you, I realized that wasn't realistic, so I'll leave it at that."
"I'll definitely keep a close eye on things when I get back!" Xie Wei promised. "Then we'll be going now, teacher. Goodbye!"
After saying that, he took Mu Yao's hand and quickly walked out of the office.
Reaching the top of the stairs, Xie Wei let go of Mu Yao's hand and breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing his teacher again after graduation, especially in the office, made even Xie Wei feel awkward.
"Hahahaha," Mu Yao laughed out loud at Xie Wei's actions.
Xie Wei glared at her. "You still have the nerve to laugh? I thought you were being bullied and came to your defense, but it turns out you not only ran into your old teacher, but it's also about puppy love."
"Uncle, you can become the top scorer in the college entrance examination even if you're in a relationship at a young age?" As Mu Yao was going downstairs, she looked at Xie Wei's back and felt the lingering warmth in her hands before suddenly asking this question.
"That's because I have a special talent."
