Xie Wei, by chance, learned from a system that his world had a 'Child of Destiny', and that he, Xie Wei, was like a minor supporting character with little screen time in a novel within this...
On the afternoon of the same day Zhao Yujin woke up, Xie Wei's villa welcomed several uninvited guests.
Xie Weizheng lay on the old man's rocking chair made of sandalwood, his eyes half-closed, resting as the chair swayed.
This chair was part of the furniture that came with his villa. Xie Wei guessed that the villa was originally built for retirement, which is why it included such a thing.
I must say, it's quite comfortable. Sitting on it, gently rocking back and forth, I can forget everything and feel completely relaxed.
While Zhao Yujin was on her phone, her gaze kept drifting to Xie Wei, as if she couldn't get enough of looking at him, or as if she was afraid that it was all just a fantasy.
As if she had made up her mind, she sent "@everyone, how do I pursue someone?" in the Rose Gang (4) group chat interface, and then stole a few glances at Xie Wei.
Hongyu quickly sent a message.
After a while.
"Young Master" Zheng Qi walked in.
Xie Wei opened his eyes, and Zhao Yujin also looked away.
"The second young master of the Zhao family, Zhao Er Shao, is at the door right now. He says he's here to visit you."
"Hmm," Xie Wei said calmly, showing no surprise that the visitor was Zhao Kui. "I won't see him."
“Your way of kicking me out is really direct,” Zhao Yujin said. “I thought I would need you to carry me upstairs so I could get away.”
Hearing Zhao Yujin's words, Xie Wei's face remained expressionless, still as calm and collected as ever.
"The feud between the Xie and Zhao families has been an open secret for the past few years. This kid claims to be here to visit, but he's a hypocrite; his real purpose is to find you."
"Everyone outside knows my temper. If I were to receive him, it would seem like I'm acting strangely, like I'm burying my head in the sand."
"Aren't you afraid he'll suspect something?" Zhao Yujin moved closer to Xie Wei. "I want to sit too."
“His very presence here is a sign of suspicion. What is he worried about?” Xie Wei stood up. “And even if he is certain that you are here, so what? He can’t take you away.”
"As agreed, with me here, you only need to focus on recovering from your injuries. You don't need to worry about anything else," Xie Wei said casually, carefully picking her up and placing her on the rocking chair so she could experience it.
As Zhao Yujin looked at Xie Wei, his words made her heart flutter. Perhaps ever since the boy's conversation with Uncle Fu, this man had been lingering in her mind.
"Young Master, that boy refuses to leave," Zheng Qi's voice came from the doorway.
"I understand," Xie Wei straightened his clothes and walked towards the door. It was expected; it would be a miracle if he left so easily.
Watching Xie Wei's departing figure, Zhao Yujin's body, which had been rocking in the rocking chair, gradually came to a stop. It felt like she had returned to the past.
When she was little, she was a troublemaker. Whenever she got into trouble, he was always there to protect her.
Thinking about all this, Zhao Yujin was inexplicably moved. How could she possibly resist such a small act?
Xie Wei opened the door and saw Zhao Kui and several people behind him, all of whom were members of the Zhao family, similar to Zheng Qi's personal guards.
"Third Brother," Zhao Kui said respectfully with a smile.
Xie Wei nodded expressionlessly and said, "Zhao Er, you don't come here unless you have a reason. Don't use any excuse to visit. Just spit it out."
“My older sister went missing last night, and today’s investigation revealed that her car was involved in an accident on the highway nearby,” Zhao Kui slowly suppressed his smile. “If I had known this would happen, I should have stopped her from drinking last night.”
“So that car belongs to Zhao Yujin. I saw the car last night when I came back from the North District. As for the person, I didn’t see him.” Xie Wei said, glancing into Zhao Kui’s eyes. Seeing the other’s reaction, a barely perceptible smile flashed across his face, disappearing in an instant and quickly concealing itself.
After hearing Xie Wei's words, Zhao Kui put on a fawning smile again, "Third Brother, if you say that, I won't be able to explain it to Grandpa when I go back to the capital."
"So?" Xie Wei frowned as he saw the other person start to use his seniority to intimidate him, finding the person in front of him extremely boring.
"I just want to go in for a look around, could you please do me a favor?"
"What? You've started to suspect me?" Xie Wei's voice remained indifferent, but his entire body was already releasing the pressure of a Transcendent being.
Xie Wei never understood why someone like the Chosen One would let others humiliate him and then retaliate against him when things could be resolved directly.
He doesn't like the kind of plot where the protagonist pretends to be weak while the enemy is actually strong, or the plot where the protagonist is slapped in the face and acts arrogant. This kind of direct plot suits him better. Isn't it more satisfying than that?
"This pressure! You..." Zhao Kui stared wide-eyed in disbelief. He had only ever felt this pressure from his grandfather, and had never even felt it from his father.
"What do you mean, 'you'? Can you get lost?" Xie Wei said. "Or are you trying to force me to take action? Do you still remember what happened when we were kids?"
Zhao Kui recalled how he had spoken ill of Zhao Yujin when they were children, which Xie Wei overheard and beat him so badly that he was left to recover at home for several days. From that moment on, he developed a slight unease about Xie Wei.
As they grew up, Zhao Kui thought the shadow would fade, but when the other party displayed strength that he could not resist, the shadow still lingered.
"Xie Wei, you wait. This is Nancheng, not the capital. The Zhao family will not let you get away with this." Knowing that the search was pointless, Zhao Kui made a threat and led his men away in a sorry state.
Watching Zhao Kui flee, Xie Wei didn't say anything to stop him. He didn't take the newcomer seriously; he wasn't worth it.
Back inside, Zhao Yujin was engrossed in a phone conversation, swaying back and forth in her chair, her shapely figure outlined in the winter light and shadow.
