Xie Wei went to get some fresh air at the door before being led to the private room for tonight's dinner by a servant.

The moment the door was opened, everyone looked at Xie Wei with puzzled eyes, while the director stood up and introduced Xie Wei's identity.

"This is Mr. Xie from Qiyuan. He's interested in investing in our show and is taking this opportunity to come and see us. A warm welcome to him!"

Following Xie Wei's instructions, Ouyang Hao only revealed Xie Wei's identity to the director. The director, knowing Xie Wei's prestige, was somewhat flattered and worried about not being able to entertain him properly, yet he still wanted Xie Wei's investment.

'The Xie family?' Bai Shiying recognized Qi Yuan as soon as she heard his name. Although she had never seen what he looked like, she knew that such a person existed from the conversations of her peers.

Within this circle, no matter what awards or honors you receive, the top level will always belong to the powerful and wealthy, and only those at the bottom are the real people.

The crowd applauded in welcome. Xie Wei smiled without much emotion, his eyes swept over the crowd, lingering on Bai Shiying for a few seconds before he nodded and took his seat.

There weren't many people present. Qi Sha and the two lead actors sat in the middle, with Xie Wei flanked by the director and assistant director. Behind them were the two lead actors and the two vying for the roles...

During the dinner, after everyone else had toasted Xie Wei, the assistant director and Qi Sha exchanged glances. Qi Sha then stood up, wearing a light beige dress, and slowly walked towards Xie Wei's seat with her wine in hand.

Bai Shiying felt a pang of sadness as she watched Qi Sha's actions. She thought about how her manager had told her to be smarter in the car, and then about her conversation with Xie Wei at the door. After a moment's thought, she stood up.

Bai Shiying wore a purple halter dress today, with a section of her hair tied back with a purple ribbon. Her exposed skin was so white it was translucent, and she looked stunning even without any other decorations.

"Mr. Xie, let me toast you." Her voice was slightly raised, sounding somewhat weak, and she wanted to lean closer to Xie Wei.

Xie Wei leaned slightly forward to avoid Qi Sha's approach, without making any hand movements or speaking.

Xie Wei's actions and silence left Qi Sha frozen in place. Seeing Qi Sha's discomfiture, Bai Shiying felt inexplicably good.

"Mr. Xie, what happened at the door just now was a misunderstanding. I will punish myself with a drink to apologize to you." Bai Shiying raised her eyes slightly. She didn't know if Xie Wei was aware of his Bai family background, but she believed that with what had just happened as an excuse, no matter how Xie Wei reacted, he wouldn't embarrass her like Qi Sha did.

'Sure enough, she's still as shrewd as a little fox as ever.' Hearing Bai Shiying's words, Xie Wei smiled slightly in a good mood, picked up the wine glass on the table, stood up and gently clinked the wine glass in Bai Shiying's hand.

Everyone was slightly shocked by the scene before them. Anyone with eyes could see that Xie Wei's smile just now was different from his aloofness towards others; it carried a hint of happiness.

The director noticed a hint of doting in Xie Wei's expression, which led him to speculate about the relationship between Bai Shiying and Xie Wei.

Bai Shiying didn't have time to care about Xie Wei's feelings. Just the fact that he got up and clinked glasses with her showed that she was one step closer to the role, which was a good thing. Her eyes crinkled slightly.

Xie Wei didn't say much. He glanced at Bai Shiying, took a sip of wine, looked at Bai Shiying's back, and sat down.

When Xie Wei left the private room as the dinner party drew to a close, it meant that the party was over, and everyone else was about to leave as well.

Before leaving, Xie Wei went to the restroom. When he came out to wash his hands, he heard two people talking outside.

"Assistant Director, what do you mean by this?" Outside the restroom, Bai Shiying was handed a room key by the assistant director, but she threw it away without even glancing at it.

"Bai Shiying, don't think that just because that guy surnamed Xie was polite to you, you've got the role. Whether you pass or not is still up to me."

"I'm giving you a chance. Don't be ungrateful. If you serve me well tonight, I guarantee that role will fall into your lap." The assistant director looked at Bai Shiying with undisguised greed in his eyes, and his hand even wanted to touch Bai Shiying's skin.

Just as Bai Shiying was about to lash out, she suddenly saw a hand grabbing the assistant director's groping hand. Looking at the owner of that hand, she saw it was Xie Wei, who had just dried his hands.

"Thank you, Mr. Xie!" The assistant director felt a little pain in the hand that Xie Wei was holding.

At this moment, Xie Wei was protecting Bai Shiying behind him. He glanced at the hand, used force to dislocate it, then released it and kicked it, causing the man to roll twice on the ground before stopping.

"Get out of my way, don't get in my way," Xie Wei's voice was terribly cold.

The man left, muttering curses under his breath.

Xie Wei turned around, took a step back, glanced at Bai Shiying, and laughed as if he had seen something funny.

"It was I who acted on my own initiative, Miss Qian... Bai."

Xie Wei saw that Bai Shiying's aura had reached the early stage of the acquired realm. It was obvious that she had wanted to teach that assistant director a lesson herself, but Xie Wei had stopped her.
