As a Supporting Character, Why Do I Have So Many Heroines Around Me?

Xie Wei, by chance, learned from a system that his world had a 'Child of Destiny', and that he, Xie Wei, was like a minor supporting character with little screen time in a novel within this...

Chapter 8: The female lead makes her debut?

"Xingzhi, I heard you rescued a girl and brought her home," Ms. Zheng said in the video call, sounding clearly in good spirits. "I heard the child was in a pretty bad situation. When are you going to bring her home to see her?"

Upon hearing these words, Xie Wei's forehead creased with dismay.

He knew his mother would overthink things after hearing about Xu Daiwei from Zheng Qi, but he didn't expect her to only call now to inquire.

What he didn't know was that Ms. Zheng also wanted to call and inquire earlier, but she deliberately waited a few days before calling to give Xie Wei and Xu Daiwei time and space, because she was afraid of putting pressure on Xie Wei.

A lone man and a lone woman, alone in a room, are bound to become lovers; it's practically a done deal.

When people get to a certain age, parents always want someone to be by their side and hope that their children can get married and start a career.

This feeling was even more pronounced in Xie Wei's parents, because after what happened four years ago, their child had hardly any other girls around him besides the few girls he had when he was little.

Xu Daiwei's appearance made Xie Wei's parents think that their child had finally come to her senses, so they had to pay more attention to her.

"Mom, you've misunderstood. My relationship with her isn't what you're thinking," Xie Wei explained helplessly. "I just see her as a younger sister."

In the video, Zheng Huaiyu looks incredulous and says, "Fine, fine. Even if it's a younger sister, we still have to bring her back to see our daughter."

"Mom, don't worry about this. I'll handle things here." Xie Wei knew that if they continued talking, his mother would start nagging, so he wanted to end the conversation as soon as possible and brush it off.

After the video call ended, the black screen reflected Xie Wei's somewhat irritated face, his brows furrowed and his eyes revealing weariness.

Xie Wei understood what his parents were worried about. Four years had passed, and it had been four years since that person left.

Humans aren't creatures of lasting affection, and neither is Xie Wei, at least that's what he believes. Besides, the system promised to save the items after he completed the mission.

Even so, Xie Wei still couldn't face that person from her past. After meeting that person, Xie Wei didn't intend to become someone from another world, as others described her, but now she's still stepping through that door. Furthermore, Xie Wei can't meet her parents' expectations regarding her romantic relationships.

Feeling annoyed, Xie Wei called Zheng Qi to pick up Xu Daiwei, then grabbed his keys and went out. Usually, when Xie Wei had something to do, he would ask Zheng Qi to pick up Xu Daiwei, and Xu Daiwei would obediently not bother Xie Wei, as long as Xie Wei came on time to coax her to sleep.

Xie Wei drove his supercar to the outskirts of B City for a race. The area was sparsely populated and spacious, making it perfect for racing. In the early days of founding Qiyuan, Xie Wei would vent his worries through racing, clearing his mind before heading back home.

About forty minutes later, Xie Wei parked his car on the road. His frustration vanished, and he looked calmly at the night sky, preparing to go back, when he heard the sounds of fighting coming from not far away.

Xie Wei drove over and observed that it seemed one person was being chased by four others, and that person was in a fierce struggle.

Xie Wei took a closer look and found that the person being chased was only wearing a tight-fitting night suit, with a black veil covering his face, revealing only a pair of beautiful eyes. There was blood on his forehead, and he was holding two blades in his injured hand. His steps were unsteady, and he clearly looked like he was about to give up.

Judging from her curvaceous figure and those beautiful eyes, even when tired, she is a beauty with a score below nine out of ten.

The four people opposite them, all dressed in black robes with their faces covered by hats, making it impossible to tell their genders, took turns attacking with their bare hands, employing a strategy of attrition to wear down the opponent.

In a few minutes, they would have succeeded in killing the person on the other side. Xie Wei did not make a move; they were not in the habit of meddling in other people's business, and the four men clearly did not intend to kill.

Besides, there aren't that many beauties in the world who are at least a 9 out of 10. Those with that kind of looks in the wild are basically the heroines. Let the protagonist handle the hero-saves-the-damsel-in-distress scenario.

What? You're saying the rewards for altering the female lead's fate are greater? Please, altering fate comes with the responsibility of bearing the consequences of the alteration.

The female lead is such an important character; if her fate is altered, who knows what kind of karmic consequences she'll have to bear? Xie Wei doesn't have the habit of creating trouble for herself. It's best to leave this place of trouble as soon as possible.

Xie Wei was about to get into the car and leave when, just as he opened the door, the girl suddenly flew straight towards him.

It turned out that the girl had reached her limit, and the four people opposite her didn't notice much. They only saw that the shorter man in black robes couldn't stop and sent the girl flying with a palm strike, which happened to be in Xie Wei's direction.

Xie Wei hadn't expected the girl to fall towards him, and hurriedly caught her.

The veil fell away, revealing a face that was almost perfect. Beneath one of her arched eyebrows, stained with blood, a pair of bright, watery eyes revealed her weakness, and her small, lovely red lips were breathing heavily. Her small, oval face looked pitiful.

The girl seemed to have a particular fondness for dark green; her night clothes, veil, and double blades were all dark green, appearing almost black at night if not carefully observed.

Xie Wei held the girl in his arms, listening to the voice that didn't come to mind. His heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down. It seemed that she was not the female lead.

Xie Wei assumed that the system would alert him if he came into contact with an important person. However, the system never alerted him, and he didn't doubt his guess at all.

The girl in his arms had her hands hanging limply at her sides, the twin blades lying on the ground. Only her eyes were looking at Xie Wei, her mouth slightly open as if she wanted to say something but couldn't utter a word. It was as if all her strength had been used to keep her eyes open.
