I've been a courier for over three years, delivering many bizarre packages. Now, I'm here to tell you about some little-known incidents involving the delivery of human ashes!
That day...
I only heard a "whoosh whoosh" sound in my ears and thought I was going to drown in the river. But before I could react, my eyes suddenly lit up.
The dazzling light shone above my head. I looked at the endless yellow sand and the desert and was stunned.
What happened? I was clearly swept away by the whirlpool, so how did I end up outside in the blink of an eye? And my clothes weren't even wet? I looked around and found myself standing on the ancient beacon tower. A little further away was Zhang Haitao and his group's tent.
I was still a little stunned. There must be something strange about that vortex, otherwise how could it have sent me out in such an instant?
I immediately jumped down from the ancient beacon tower and returned to the tent. It was already dawn, and Zhang Haitao and the others had already gotten up and were packing up the tent. Seeing me return, Zhang Haitao hurried over and said, "You little brat, you scared us to death, don't you know that?"
I knew what he meant. He must have seen the note I wrote earlier. I smiled awkwardly and said, "I'm not safe. - Uncle Zhang, Lao Sha, Madam, do you know what I found?"
All three of them walked up to me and looked at me with curiosity.
I said mysteriously, "Before, I was seduced into a cave by a ghost slave. I discovered that the cave wasn't deep, and there was a river underneath. Every night, many ghost slaves would appear and row boats on the river. The strangest thing is that there is a whirlpool there that will suck things in. I was accidentally sucked in by the whirlpool just now, but I was sent to that ancient beacon tower. What do you think the reason is?"
The three of them looked at each other in bewilderment as they listened to my miraculous story. After a moment, Zhang Haitao said, "Are you saying that you were swept up by that vortex and landed on that ancient beacon tower?"
I nodded.
Zhang Haitao's eyes changed. "Xuanxuan disappeared on that ancient beacon tower. Could it be that... the ancient beacon tower is connected to that vortex? Perhaps Xuanxuan disappeared because she was sucked into the vortex, so she appeared to have vanished from our sight."
The madam clutched her chest and asked, "That doesn't make sense. We've already observed that ancient beacon tower before, and there's nothing strange about it. How could it possibly suck people down?"
Zhang Haitao and I exchanged glances and said almost in unison, "Double Fish Jade Pendant!"
Zhang Haitao took out the Pisces jade pendant and said to Lao Sha, "Lao Sha, come with me to the beacon tower." He turned to me and the procuress and said, "Xiao Fei, you've been down there before, so you're familiar with the route. If you see Lao Sha and I disappear from the beacon tower, you and the procuress should go straight down from the black hole and investigate the vortex. We might meet somewhere."
I nodded and said, "If we meet there, then the mystery of Xuanxuan's disappearance can be solved."
Zhang Haitao gave me a thumbs up, and then took Lao Sha to the ancient beacon tower.
The brothel owner and I watched them walk to the ancient beacon tower. I could clearly see Zhang Haitao holding the Pisces jade pendant high in the air, while Lao Sha hugged his shoulders tightly from behind. The two of them stood like that for a moment.
Although it was only around eight or nine in the morning, the sun was already blazing down on the earth, and the surface temperature of the desert had already reached 50 or 60 degrees Celsius. There was no shade as far as the eye could see, and the desert trembled slightly with the heat, and the rocks gleamed with the intense heat.
The desert is dead silent, devoid of any life.
I don’t know how long it took, we were all sweating from the heat, and just when we felt hopeless, suddenly, Zhang Haitao and Lao Sha seemed to have evaporated out of thin air and disappeared!
The procuress and I rubbed our eyes and looked over. Zhang Haitao and Lao Sha were indeed gone! I quickly ran to the ancient beacon tower with the procuress. The Pisces jade pendant fell to the ground and did not disappear with Zhang Haitao and the others.
"It seems that there is a result for Xuanxuan's disappearance." I breathed a sigh of relief, picked up the Pisces jade pendant, and quickly left the ancient beacon tower with the brothel owner, fearing that I would disappear as well.
Next, the procuress and I arrived at the entrance of the black hole. I had already been down there once before, so this time I led the way for her. Even though it was daytime, she still needed a flashlight to see the way clearly. My flashlight was dead, and since she already knew I had some special abilities, I decided not to pretend.
I took the brothel owner with me and walked to the river where we had been before. This river was much shallower than the previous one, and there was a large coffin nearby. I carried the coffin to the surface of the river, called the brothel owner, and the coffin carried us slowly into the deeper part of the river.
During this time, the madam even said with a smile: "Using a coffin as a boat... I am really eye-opening today."
I chuckled.
Soon, the coffin boat sailed into the depths of the river, and the view suddenly became wider. However, what surprised me was that this area should also be a river, and there were many fishing ghosts rowing coffin boats to catch fish.
But now, the entire area seemed to have dried up overnight. Not to mention the fishing ghost, even the river water disappeared.
The madam looked left and right, then asked me, "Didn't you say there were a lot of ghost slaves rowing here? Why are they all doing it?"
"I don't know either." I scratched my head awkwardly, then suddenly remembered what the fisherman had said. Nighttime is high tide, and daytime is low tide.
In other words, the tide has receded now, so the water in the river has disappeared.
What I can't figure out is where did all the water go?
We got off the coffin boat. Although the river had disappeared, the ground was still a bit muddy. We walked very carefully, fearing that we would get stuck in the mud and be unable to climb out. That would be troublesome. However, these worries were unnecessary. When we reached the middle of the river, I recalled the place where the whirlpool appeared. This must be it.
