Chapter 12 On the Road

We arrived at the campsite in the blink of an eye.

She saw that all his things were in that tent, and he didn't seem to want anyone to prepare another tent for her.

Am I going to have to sleep with him again tonight?

Last night was an exception. If we sleep together again tonight, there's no guarantee that this person with boundless energy will unleash their wild side.

It wasn't that she didn't trust his self-control, but compared to that, she felt her charm was more alluring to him.

"Of course we'll sleep together."

He felt that all his restraint would vanish the moment he touched her, but the feeling of her leaning on him last night was so wonderful that he couldn't fall asleep alone anymore.

Chen Guanxue raised her chin, revealing a section of her fair neck, and let him undress her.

Kangxi lowered his eyes and carefully pushed the jade out of the buttonhole, opening a gap in his outer garment to reveal the color of his inner garment.

After unbuttoning another button, the third one was in a rather unusual position. The fabric wasn't flat, and the bulging curves made him feel a little awkward, unsure of how much force to use to press that button.

Chen Guanxue remained seated, watching as he went from bending over to half-squatting to undress her. Her trembling fingers gradually calmed down, just like her mood.

Seeing that he was having some trouble, she reached out and unbuttoned the button.

She couldn't let him linger any longer; it was getting late, and she wanted to go to sleep early.

He continued unbuttoning his coat, placing it aside, and then went outside.

Seeing him walk around the screen and call Runxi in to serve him, Chen Guanxue couldn't help but chuckle, thinking he was just showing off.

When he was lying in bed, Chen Guanxue saw him stiffly crawl under the covers, so she leaned close and asked him a question.

"Where did Your Majesty put my hair?" She hadn't seen him put it on his person.

Kangxi reached out and took her hand, which was resting on his chest. He gently rubbed the back of her hand with his fingertips and whispered, "I put it in my purse. I can only feel at ease if I carry it with me every day."

Based on her understanding of him, there must be more to it than that; there must be some steps she's unaware of.

However, he didn't say it aloud, and she didn't intend to ask. She simply said, "Then Your Majesty must keep it safe. This is only a small amount of hair."

I will keep it safe and sound, and even if I die in the future, I will take it with me to my tomb.

After asking him questions, Chen Guanxue slept with him.

The journey took more than ten days, and they arrived at their destination in the blink of an eye. The group knew that Kangxi had brought a woman with him without saying a word, but that was all they knew. They didn't even know what the woman looked like.

Once Chen Guanxue arrived at the destination, she stayed in Kangxi's tent and never went out again.

She had been sitting in the carriage for so long and wanted to go out for a walk, but her back had been a little uncomfortable lately, always aching and sore, and once she got to a place, she just lay down and didn't want to move at all.

On the first day she felt unwell, she summoned the imperial physician to take her pulse. The physician's diagnosis was that the baby in her womb was growing and that her back pain was normal.

The child was the one causing her distress; what could she do but give him a good beating after his birth?

The camp was some distance from the battleground, so Chen Guanxue's sleep wouldn't be disturbed. However, Kangxi sometimes had to get up in the middle of the night, so he added a bed for himself to sleep on.

Galdan, harboring wolfish ambitions, gathered his men and launched surprise attacks every few days when he learned that Emperor Kangxi was going to personally lead an expedition, but all his attacks were thwarted.

On the first night of Kangxi's arrival, some people also launched a sneak attack under the cover of night, but they were defeated before they could cross the front line of defense, and several were captured alive.

These living people were of some status, so Kangxi ordered them to be brought to a nearby place. Chen Guanxue, upon learning this, became very interested and wanted to go and see them.

"What are you going to see? They're all ugly."
