Xia Minmin accidentally travels back in time to the early 1990s.
By a stroke of luck, she wins the lottery and improves the lives of herself and her parents.
Her relationship with her p...
After delivering the beef balls to Wang Aimin, Xia Minmin carried the durian home.
On the way, she had already decided how she would eat the durian today.
She had seen others make chestnut cakes before, and it looked very simple. She wanted to try it herself and see what would happen if she replaced the filling with durian.
All the ingredients you have at home are flour, corn oil, yeast, milk, and sugar. Put them together, knead them into a dough, and let it ferment for 30 minutes. This completes the first step of making the durian pancake crust.
While the dough was fermenting, Xia Minmin opened the durian. This durian was a gift, as each compartment was full of flesh. She mashed the durian flesh into a paste and set it aside without adding any extra sugar.
The second step is to deflate the fermented dough, knead it into individual portions, roll them out into wrappers, and fill them with durian puree.
Xia Minmin prepared enough ingredients to make twenty durian cakes.
The final step is to take out the cleaned iron wok and place it on the gas stove. There's no need to brush oil into the wok. Once the wok is hot, put the wrapped durian cakes on it to fry.
As the durian was roasted over a low flame, its aroma wafted through the dough, making Xia Minmin's mouth water.
Once both sides are slightly golden brown, the durian pancake is ready. Ignoring the steam from the pan, Xia Minmin grabbed a piece and ate it with her hand.
It tastes even better than store-bought ones; the filling without any additives is definitely different.
Xia Minmin made twenty durian cakes. After they were cooked, she tasted one and planned to send six to Tang Meng's family and six to Wang Aimin.
Carrying the packaged durian cakes, Xia Minmin went to Tang Meng's house.
"Mengmeng, want to try my durian pancakes?"
Tang Meng didn't stand on ceremony and started eating the durian cake that Xia Minmin had given her.
Tang Meng said while eating, "When did you buy this durian? How come I didn't know?"
Tang Meng gave a thumbs-up, indicating that she liked it too.
"I didn't buy any durians; Uncle Wang gave them to me. I was thinking of making durian cakes to try, and they tasted pretty good, so I'm giving you some."
"Your godfather is really good to you. Why do I never hear you call him godfather? You call him Uncle Wang instead?"
"They said the ceremony hasn't been held yet, so there's no rush to change the address. I'll go deliver durian cakes to Uncle Wang then. See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow."
Xia Minmin carried the durian cakes over and was inevitably teased again, but fortunately she was thick-skinned and didn't care about the teasing.
Wang Aimin felt very comforted when he saw that his goddaughter was being given any good food. Seeing that it was almost dinner time, he asked the kitchen to make her a large portion of special seafood vermicelli casserole.
Xia Minmin went to the supermarket but didn't see Xia Jianguo either time.
When Li Chunmei returned home, there were six chestnut cakes on a plate on the dining table. She assumed that Xia Minmin had bought them.
I took a bite and realized it was a durian cake. I don't know where it came from, but it tasted pretty good.
After eating two durian cakes, Li Chunmei, who was already a little thirsty, went into the kitchen to get some water.
The kitchen was a mess, with pots, pans, utensils, and ingredients all scattered on the counter. It seemed that Xiaomin had made the durian pancakes herself, as only a kitchen used by her would be this messy.
As she tidied up, she complained, "I don't know whose genes it inherited. It's definitely not mine. I always keep things tidy after I use it, and I clean the kitchen after I cook."
Li Chunmei had just finished cleaning the kitchen and hadn't even had a chance to rest when the front door was opened.
Xia Minmin brought in a seafood vermicelli stew that Wang Aimin had specially made.
"Mom, you're back! Did you eat the durian pancakes on the table? I made them this afternoon, they tasted pretty good, didn't they? I'm a genius!"
Li Chunmei was speechless. "This genius comrade, it would be even better if you could clean the kitchen after each use."
Upon hearing Li Chunmei's words, Xia Minmin's lost memories finally returned. She had been in a hurry to deliver durian cakes and hadn't had time to clean the kitchen yet.
He placed the casserole dish he was carrying on the dining table, rolled up his sleeves, and prepared to clean the kitchen.
Looking at her daughter's posture, Li Chunmei thought to herself that she was going to war.
"Where are you going? The kitchen is all cleaned."
Xia Minmin hugged Li Chunmei and kissed her, saying sweetly, "Thank you, Mom!"
"Where did you get this durian? Your dad definitely won't buy it for you; he thinks it smells bad."
Xia Minmin reported today's itinerary to Li Chunmei.
"So the casserole you just brought in, was it the Sea King Vermicelli Casserole that your Uncle Wang had made for you? Your Uncle Wang's shop sells Sea King Vermicelli Casserole, but it's not this size of casserole, is it? This is way too big."
Opening the lid of the casserole reveals a huge seafood vermicelli casserole, with more seafood than vermicelli inside.
"I'll make some soup with the beef balls you bought today, and tonight we'll just have some seafood vermicelli casserole you brought back."
Xia Jianguo opened the door, and the aroma of beef wafted from the kitchen.
"You're back. Time to have dinner. We're having a simple meal today: a bowl of beef ball soup and a huge seafood vermicelli casserole that Xiaomin brought back from Uncle Wang."
This meal successfully made all three people in the family stuffed.
Xia Jianguo said, "The beef balls that Xiaomin brought back are firm, juicy, and have some tendons. We'll buy some more every now and then, and bring some back to our parents next time we go back to our hometown."
Li Chunmei said, "It's really delicious. No seasonings were added to the soup, just a little salt and chopped green onions, and it's already very flavorful."
After dinner, the family took a walk along the paths in the neighborhood, and it took them more than ten laps to digest their food.
Wang Aimin arranged the durian cakes his goddaughter had given him on a plate, brewed a pot of tea, and sat on the sofa to watch the news.
The second son, Wang Zhongji, came over and, seeing that his father was enjoying his meal, prepared to take a piece and taste it.
