If the Tang Empire won, it would say to its opponents: "You damn well behave yourself in the future, or be careful that I wipe out your entire clan. Pay tribute obediently every year!"
<...After shattering the Jin army's central forces, the Song army was left with only a thousand men.
Instead of fleeing, the thousand men took a detour and returned to fight their way back.
Their armor was stained with blood, and even the mane of their warhorses was stained red with blood.
Under the bright moonlight, a chilling, blood-red light flowed.
As he ran, blood slid and flew across his armor, like rain of blood.
The road they came from is now littered with corpses, where countless brave men lie forever asleep.
A gust of wind blew from afar, scattering the blood.
A strong stench of blood permeated the surroundings, but their sense of smell had become numb.
They continued their charge into the Jin army's camp, resulting in another fierce battle.
Finally, after Zhan Du cleaved open the head of a Jin soldier, his body was pierced by five spears, and an axe swung down, severing his head.
Chen Gou, along with Yao Xiong, led his men, cutting through thorns and brambles, and charged toward Wanyan Zonggan.
All the Jin soldiers who stood in their way were killed.
Their numbers dwindled, but their fighting spirit remained undiminished.
"Your Majesty, the Song army is attacking! Please make way!"
"I have 50,000 brave warriors, why should I fear a mere few hundred Song dogs!" Wanyan Zonggan revealed a cruel smile. "Don't kill that Yao Xiong, I will personally behead him and use his head as a wine cup!"
At this moment, Yao Xiong and Chen Gou led the last three hundred men and plowed towards this side.
The Jin army was clearly terrified by this Song army.
The Song soldier was hacked to pieces, his face covered in blood and gore. He was barely clinging to life, but he refused to fall. He killed three more Song soldiers before finally falling from his horse, his head severed.
Yao Xiong's spearhead was already twisted and deformed, and the other Song soldiers' horse-slaying swords had all been chipped.
Their armor was tattered and broken, and they had suffered countless wounds, revealing their bones underneath.
After tearing through the last line of defense of the Jin army, the Song army had only a dozen or so men left, but they finally broke through to the location of the Jin army's commander.
Wanyan Zonggan was just ahead.
Yao Xiong's horse was impaled in the legs by three Jin soldiers' spears and immediately fell forward. Yao Xiong rolled on the ground, avoiding several Jin soldiers' spear attacks.
He drew his sharp saber and cleaved the Jin army's spears in two.
But then another attack came from behind.
The remaining dozen or so Song soldiers immediately came to his aid, reducing the pressure on him.
He rushed forward.
All that could be heard was Wanyan Zonggan's deputy shouting, "Protect the King!"
As soon as Yao Xiong rushed forward, several Jin soldiers charged up as well.
Yao Xiong lived up to his reputation as a fierce general in the Song army, and he remained exceptionally brave as he charged through the enemy lines.
With a single swipe of his blade, he severed the heads of three Jin soldiers in front of him.
The three heads shot into the sky, spitting out three jets of blood.
Wanyan Zonggan is right in front of us!
Faced with this valiant Song general, Wanyan Zonggan finally showed shock on his face.
Two Jin soldiers on the left attacked Yao Xiong simultaneously.
Seeing that Yao Xiong had just killed three Jin soldiers and there was no time to defend, Chen Gou rushed over.
Three Jin soldiers were about to thrust their spears at him. He could have blocked them and not died, but he chose to block the supply from the left for Yao Xiong.
The spear pierced his chest, tearing through his internal organs.
He roared one last time: "Commander Yao, kill Wanyan Zonggan!"
After saying this, Chen Gou breathed his last.
Yao Xiong rushed forward and slashed at Wanyan Zonggan with his sword.
The deputy general next to Wanyan Zonggan turned pale with fright, while Wanyan Zonggan himself shrank back.
The long blade of the saber sliced across Wanyan Zonggan's forehead, cutting open his left eye and extending down to his cheek.
Fortunately, he leaned back, so the blade only cut through his skin and grazed his facial bones, leaving a long scar.
Wanyan Zonggan's warhorse seemed to be startled by Yao Xiong's unstoppable momentum, letting out a terrified neigh.
Wanyan Zonggan himself fell directly off his horse, clutching his eyes with both hands and letting out a miserable cry.
Just as Yao Xiong's sword fell, a Jin soldier's spear pierced through his chest.
But he did not stop; instead, he charged forward toward Wanyan Zonggan.
He swiftly swung his sword again, but just as he did, his arm was severed by an axe from a Jin soldier beside him, and the sword fell to the ground.
Yao Xiong didn't even frown, and immediately drew the pen knife from his waist with his left hand.
He lunged forward, moving incredibly fast.
The pen knife was thrust at Wanyan Zonggan, who was so frightened that he lost his composure and hurriedly dodged, but Yao Xiong had already pounced on him.
The pen knife pierced Wanyan Zonggan's shoulder bone, its sharp blade penetrating his armor and embedding itself in his collarbone.
Wanyan Zonggan let out a heart-wrenching scream.
If he hadn't shifted his body slightly, the knife would have been stuck in his throat.
Immediately, more than a dozen Jin soldiers thrust their spears into Yao Xiong's back.
A Jin army officer rushed over and slashed Yao Xiong's neck with a knife, severing his head.
At this point, the Song army was completely annihilated.
Of the three thousand armored soldiers, only ten escaped after the first charge to report the enemy's movements; none survived.
This was the most brutal battle in the war to destroy the Jin dynasty in the ninth year of the Jingkang era.
Even later, many historians and writers of the Song Dynasty, when making commentaries, all harbored this sentiment.
The only report was: Of the thirty thousand brave soldiers, only ten have returned!
