The phone rang.

Guan Feng looked at the number—Bai Ju? Why would he call him?

He gestured to Huang Lili as if to press a button, then answered the phone and spoke first: "Director Bai, what brings you to call me? Is there something you need?"

Director Bai said with a hint of reproach, "Xiao Guan, you went to the Municipal Bureau and didn't even bother to call back. Don't you consider our Hongcheng Bureau as your family anymore?"

Guan Feng quickly apologized, saying, "I'm so sorry! Director Bai, of course I consider Hongcheng my home. It's just that I've been incredibly busy lately, with one case after another. Do you have some time these next couple of days? Once I've sorted out this case, I'll treat everyone to a meal, and we can all get together with our former colleagues."

Director Bai said, "Is it that missing person case?"

Guan Feng's expression hardened, and he asked, "Director Bai, how did you know?"

Director Bai bluntly stated, "Zhao Dong just called me, asking our Hongcheng branch to send a few officers to support you. Isn't this because you're familiar with Yuan Dong and his group? I'm planning to have the Third Squad send a few people to assist you. Who are you planning to send? What kind of work do you need to do?"

Guan Feng immediately understood Zhao Dong's intention after a slight turn of his head, and said, "We definitely need your help! Director Bai, then I won't stand on ceremony!"

Director Bai said, "Why are you being so polite? Hongcheng is your home!"

Guan Feng pondered for a moment and said, "How about this, Wang Xun goes to Jincheng to investigate Shi Juan's ex-boyfriend, focusing on understanding some of Shi Juan's situation. Let's leave now! I'll have Lili send the case file to his phone later, and he can read it on the way."

Director Bai nodded in agreement: "I can make the decision on this matter."

Guan Feng added, "If you have time, head east and keep watch over Dawangzhuang in the south of the city. We'll discuss the details later."

Director Bai said, "Okay! Then I'll have Wang Xun go directly to Jincheng, and Yuan Dong and Li Xiangdong will come to you and follow your instructions."

Guan Feng immediately said, "I dare not say what the arrangements are; everyone is here to investigate the case."

Director Bai chuckled and said, "You're the deputy captain now, which means you're half a rank higher than Lao Zheng."

These words made Guan Feng somewhat embarrassed.

After a few polite words, he hung up the phone.

He told Huang Lili, "Send this case privately to Zheng Yuandong, Wang Xun, and Li Xiangdong, and issue a coordination letter asking them to assist in the investigation of this case."

Huang Lili said, "Okay."

Guan Feng then opened the tenant information again to find the person who would check the second tenant's information.

A moment later.

Huang Lili finished her work.

Knock knock knock!

Guan Feng knocked on the other party's door.

The sound of a door opening came from inside the room.

Guan Feng looked at the other party, showed his identification and said, "Hello, we are police officers. We are here to investigate a case. Please cooperate with us."

The man glanced at the documents in Guan Feng's hand and said impatiently, "Hurry up, I have to go to work later."

Guan Feng said, "That's natural!"

The man opened the door and said, "If you have any questions, just ask them."

Guan Feng cut to the chase: "Are you familiar with Shi Juan?"

"Shi Juan?"

The man paused, then asked, "Are you talking about the woman in room 02 or room 03?"

Guan Feng stared at the other person's expression and said, "Room 02."

The man said, "We've met a few times, but we're not very familiar. What's wrong?"

Guan Feng observed the other person's expression and, seeing that it didn't seem fake, said, "Then may I ask you, have you seen her walking with other people? For example, on the same floor? Or, does she know anyone?"

The man said, "That girl always seems to be alone, right? I've never seen her get close to anyone. What's wrong?"

Guan Feng said, "Shi Juan's parents reported her missing to the police, saying that Shi Juan had been missing for almost two days."

"ah?"

The man was stunned: "These days, how can a living person just disappear? Are you hiding and not wanting to be seen? Are you sure they're missing?"

Guan Feng said, "We are investigating."

The man said, "I don't know her well. If you want to ask, you can ask the guy in room 01. He might know something."

Guan Feng said, "Didn't you just say you didn't understand?"

The man scratched his head awkwardly and said, "I was just thinking it was nothing, but if someone goes missing, that's a big case, so I should cooperate with your work."

Guan Feng asked, "Has Shi Juan had contact with the man in Room 01?"

The man nodded and said, "I've seen it twice; the man in room 01 went into Shi Juan's room."

Guan Feng asked, "What time?"

The man recalled, "It was only for the last month or two, mostly at night. I have two children, so I'm under a lot of pressure. After get off work, I also deliver food for a while to supplement my income. Sometimes I come home quite late. I remember one time it was around midnight, and another time it was almost 1 a.m. I saw the man from room 01 come out of Shi Juan's room, looking rather suspicious."

Guan Feng's expression furrowed slightly.

At this point in time... it's hard to believe that nothing has happened between the two of them.

He continued to observe the man's expression, then asked a few questions to confirm the man's authenticity before taking his leave.

I stepped out of the room.

He retrieved the tenant information for room 01 and discovered that the two individuals' offices were in the same building.

Both of them work in finance and human resources.

Tianyuan Building has been leased to several human resources companies.

He frowned as he looked at the information and said, "I didn't notice earlier, but both of their offices are in the Tianyuan Building. Maybe they have some overlap in their work."

Huang Lili asked, "Should we contact this Li Yan now?"
