Chapter 403 An Overly Considerate Man
The morning light poured into the bedroom through the gauze curtains of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Yun Zheng turned over in the soft quilt, and her fingers subconsciously touched the place beside her.
There was still some traces of Fu Linghe's body temperature on the bed sheet, but he was gone. It was obvious that he had just gotten up.
She slowly opened her eyes and saw a cup of warm water on the bedside table with a note at the bottom of the cup.
Yun Zheng picked up the note. It had Fu Linghe's familiar handwriting on it. "Zheng Zheng, drink some warm water when you wake up."
Yun Zheng's lips curled up unconsciously, and her fingertips gently stroked the line of words.
After she became pregnant, Fu Linghe took care of her almost meticulously.
She had just finished drinking the water and put it back on the table when the bedroom door was gently pushed open.
"Awake?" Fu Linghe walked in wearing a simple white T-shirt and casual pants. His hair was still a little wet, obviously he had just taken a shower.
"When did you get up?" Yun Zheng propped herself up and tried to sit up. Fu Linghe quickly walked to the bedside to help her.
"A little after six." Fu Linghe put two pillows behind her back. "Did you sleep well last night?"
Yun Zheng nodded, "Very good."
Fu Linghe raised his hand and ruffled her hair, saying softly, "Go wash up, then you can have breakfast."
Yun Zheng looked at the man's outstretched hand, her eyes curved into crescents, and she opened her arms coquettishly, "I want a hug."
Fu Linghe's mouth corners immediately raised in a doting arc. He leaned over, put one hand through her knees, and with the other hand firmly supported her back, and picked her up from the bed.
Yun Zheng put her arms around his neck, buried her face in the crook of his neck and took a deep breath. The freshness of the shower gel mixed with the unique cedar scent made her feel particularly at ease.
"Is it heavy?" she asked in a low voice. The weight gain after pregnancy always made her a little concerned.
Fu Linghe lowered his head and rubbed her forehead with the tip of his nose. "As light as a feather."
He deliberately shook his arm, causing Yun Zheng to gasp and hug him tighter. "Looks like I'll have to ask the kitchen to bring another nutritious meal."
All the supplies were ready in the bathroom. Fu Linghe had laid the anti-slip mat in advance and even squeezed jasmine-scented toothpaste onto the toothbrush.
He gently placed Yun Zheng on the soft stool in front of the sink, and then knelt on one knee to look her in the eye.
"Brush your teeth first?" He picked up the toothbrush and handed it to her, with a cup of warm water ready in his other hand.
Yun Zheng nodded and took the toothbrush, but deliberately did not reach out to take the cup of water. Instead, she blinked at him.
Fu Linghe immediately understood and shook his head helplessly and indulgently. He held the back of her head with one hand and held the cup of water with the other hand, waiting for her to rinse her mouth.
This posture brought the two of them very close, and Yun Zheng could clearly see his focused gaze under his thick eyelashes.
After brushing his teeth, Fu Linghe wrung out a warm towel and gently wiped Yun Zheng's face.
His movements were extremely gentle, his fingertips circling Yun Zheng's cheeks, avoiding her cheekbones which had become sensitive due to morning sickness.
When wiping her chin, Yun Zheng suddenly frowned, and Fu Linghe stopped immediately, "Did it hurt you?"
"No," Yun Zheng shook her head, grabbing his wrist and pressing it against her face, "I just think you're so gentle, and I like you so much."
Fu Linghe's eyes softened. He leaned over and pecked her on the lips. "Only for you."
After saying that, he picked up the comb and stood behind her to comb her long hair.
His technique was very skilled. He started from the ends of her hair and combed it out bit by bit. When he encountered a tangle, he would protect the roots with his hands and comb it gently, without hurting her.
After combing her hair, Fu Linghe magically pulled out a bottle of pregnant women's skin care lotion from the drawer. "The doctor said I need to pay special attention to moisturizing during this season."
He poured some into his palms to warm them up, then started massaging Yun Zheng's neck and moved downwards little by little.
When his hand reached Yun Zheng's slightly bulging belly, his movements became gentler.
"Itchy..." Yun Zheng couldn't help but shrink, but was held firmly by Fu Linghe.
"Don't move," he said in a low, gentle voice. "The doctor said massage can prevent stretch marks."
As he spoke, he gently circled his palm clockwise with his belly button as the center, stopping from time to time to feel the fetal movement that was not yet obvious.
After washing up, Fu Linghe picked up Yun Zheng again, this time in a standard princess hug.
Yun Zheng leaned on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat, and suddenly felt that all the discomfort in the early stages of pregnancy was worth it.
In the restaurant, outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is the sparkling sea, and sunlight shines through the white gauze curtains onto the dining table covered with a light blue tablecloth.
Fu Linghe placed Yun Zheng on a specially cushioned chair and sat next to her instead of opposite her.
He developed this habit ever since Yun Zheng became pregnant, saying it was so that he could take care of her at any time.
"Today we have the blueberry muffins you wanted," Fu Linghe said as he lifted the lid of the silver plate, and a sweet aroma filled the air. "But I asked the chef to reduce the sugar and use whole wheat flour."
He cut off a small piece and made sure the temperature was right before handing it to Yun Zheng's lips.
Yun Zheng opened her mouth and took a bite. The muffin melted in her mouth, and the sour and sweet taste of the blueberries was just right.
"tasty!"
Her eyes lit up and she reached out to grab the fork herself, but Fu Linghe gently held her hand back.
"Let me do it," he said, cutting another piece. "The doctor said to avoid raising your arms during early pregnancy."
Yun Zheng curled her lips, "I'm not a porcelain doll."
"You are much more precious than a porcelain doll." Fu Linghe said, and fed her another sip of the specially made mixed juice.
In addition to muffins, breakfast also includes boiled eggs, avocado salad and a small bowl of bird's nest.
Fu Linghe strictly follows the pregnancy diet plan developed by a nutritionist, carefully matching every food.
While feeding Yun Zheng, he observed her reaction. When he saw her frown, he would immediately change the food. When he saw her eyes light up, he would feed her a few more mouthfuls.
"I'm full." Yun Zheng shook her head when she was 70% full.
Her appetite was up and down in the early stages of pregnancy, but Fu Linghe never forced her. He just wrote down her preferred food that day and asked the kitchen to make more tomorrow.
After breakfast, Fu Linghe looked out the window. "Want to go for a walk on the beach? The sun is shining brightly. The doctor said that proper exercise would be good for you."
Yun Zheng nodded. She really wanted to breathe some fresh air.
Fu Linghe immediately stood up and took out an exquisite wicker basket from the cabinet in the living room. It was filled with various seaside necessities: a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, a thin shawl, a thermos cup, snacks, and even a pregnancy guide that Yun Zheng had been reading recently.
"Apply sunscreen first." Fu Linghe took out a physical sunscreen designed specifically for pregnant women, squeezed it into the palm of his hand and rubbed it evenly.
He asked Yun Zheng to sit on the sofa, and he half-knelt in front of her and started applying the lotion from her ankles.
Yun Zheng's ankles were slightly rounder than usual due to slight edema, but Fu Linghe treated them with the same piety as a work of art, pressing each acupoint gently with his fingers to help reduce swelling and promote blood circulation.
After applying the cream to the ankles, he moved his palms up the calves, avoiding the sensitive area behind the knees, and became more gentle when he reached the thighs.
"Turn around." Fu Linghe's voice was a little hoarse. He cleared his throat and helped Yun Zheng turn around to apply the cream on her back.
His palm lingered for a while at the lower back, where Yun Zheng had often felt pain recently.
After applying the lotion on the back, he asked Yun Zheng to turn around and started applying it on the arms and neck.
When it came to the face, Fu Linghe's movements were as light as a feather brushing.
He took a small amount of sunscreen with his ring finger, starting from Yun Zheng's forehead, and then spread it along the contours of her face, avoiding the sensitive area around her eyes.
When applying it to the tip of her nose, Yun Zheng suddenly sneezed. Fu Linghe immediately stopped and gently scratched her nose bridge with his fingertips, which made Yun Zheng laugh.
"Don't move," Fu Linghe pinched her cheek, "the last step."
He took out the sunscreen and carefully applied it to Yun Zheng's ears and the back of her neck, as these easily overlooked areas are most susceptible to sunburn.
After applying sunscreen, Fu Linghe put a beige wide-brimmed straw hat on Yun Zheng and tied a silk scarf around her neck. "The sea breeze is strong, don't catch a cold."
He simply applied some sunscreen and put on a pair of sunglasses.
Before leaving, Fu Linghe suddenly remembered something and hurried back to the bedroom. When he returned, he had a light blue cardigan in his hand. "The sun might be stronger at noon, but the sea breeze is still a bit cool in this season."
Yun Zheng let him put on the cardigan for her, and a warm feeling surged in her heart.
Fu Linghe's attentiveness sometimes surprised her. He could remember every word the doctor said, notice every subtle change in her expression, and even understand her physical needs better than she herself.
On the beach, Fu Linghe held the basket in one hand and held Yun Zheng steadily with the other.
He deliberately chose the time after low tide, when the sand was soaked by sea water and then dried, making it more solid and less likely to sink when walking on it.
Despite this, he always paid attention to Yun Zheng's feet and gave her advance warning if she encountered any slightly uneven ground.
"Are you tired?" After walking for about twenty minutes, Fu Linghe keenly noticed that Yun Zheng's pace had slowed down significantly.
Yun Zheng shook her head, but Fu Linghe had already found a shady spot and spread out the blanket he had brought. "Rest for a while."
He poured warm water from his thermos, added a little lemon slice, and said, "Drink it slowly."
Yun Zheng took the water cup, looked at the beads of sweat on Fu Linghe's forehead, and reached out to wipe them for him. "You're too nervous."
Fu Linghe just chuckled and said nothing.
