Chika, a mercenary from Meteor City, has transmigrated. When she opened her eyes, she was at the scene of a demon slaughter. Good news: Hooray! No more missions where she has to lick blood from her...
Chapter Thirty
The upside-down view blurred my vision, making my eye sockets feel heavy, and every blink brought a dizzying, stinging sensation. Yet, the culprit's face was strangely clear and jarring.
With a high, straight nose, barely visible small canine teeth, and a sharply defined jawline, his breathtaking face wore a venomous, fake smile.
"Why didn't you come to find me, Chika? I waited and waited and waited, but I didn't see you. I was so scared. I thought you went to find the God of Bliss."
Upon seeing her looking at him, the man's lips drooped, his voice slurred and tinged with feigned grievance.
The wheat ears on the brim of her hat brushed against her cheeks, bringing a tingling, itchy sensation, but Qianxia was completely unaware of it. Her gaze remained fixed on the face in front of her, which was pouting and trembling with tears.
Why are you waiting for me?
Chika's voice trembled, not from fear, but from extreme anger that caused her to lose control.
No! He started crying first?
Shouldn't she be the one complaining?
What's this?
Reversing the Heavenly Gang?
Doma blinked, and said matter-of-factly, "I'm waiting for you to experience the joy of demons together, the joy of immortality."
"..." Qianxia narrowed her eyes, almost squeezing out the words through clenched teeth, "Let me move first, this perspective is very uncomfortable."
"Oh~" Douma drawled out the last syllable, flicking his fingers lightly.
The moment her body regained its freedom, Qianxia threw a punch, her angry shout filled with the chilling coldness of shattered ice.
"I think you're tired of living! You want to experience the pleasure of demons? I'll let you experience the wrath of demons first!"
This punch was delivered without reservation, and with a crisp "crack," Doma's jawbone shattered.
He was knocked backward by the blow and fell to the ground with a muffled thud.
Qianxia gave him no chance to catch his breath, flipped over and straddled him, grabbed his collar and lifted him up.
"Didn't you promise not to turn me into a ghost? I said no! What are you doing?"
Doma's jawline healed at a visible speed, returning to normal in the blink of an eye. He looked up at her, a faint smile spreading across his eyes, his tone innocent and soft, "Why did Chinatsu still launch a sneak attack? So fierce."
"Didn't you launch the sneak attack first?"
Chika raised her hand and slapped his newly healed face several times. "Still 'love you'? Love you, love you, love you my ass!"
Each "I love you" was accompanied by a slap. The first slap made his head tilt to one side, the second slap pulled him back, and by the third slap, her palm was numb, but the redness and swelling on Doma's face had quickly faded without leaving a trace. He even smiled and tilted his head, licking the corner of his lips with his tongue, his tone so sticky it was infuriating.
"Chika hit me so hard... but, her fierce yet lively appearance makes her even cuter."
Before he finished speaking, he grabbed her wrist with his other hand, and following the force of her pulling on her collar, he rose slightly and leaned closer, his breath carrying a sweet scent onto her face.
"Want me to hit you a few more times? I can feel even more pain~ Hehehe~ Chika's hands are so hot, did you hurt me? Let me blow on them? Oh dear, you just became a demon, you can't control your pain yet, don't hit too hard~"
"Get out of my way!"
In an instant, the fire in Qianxia's chest seemed to be doused with oil, burning even more fiercely. She suddenly shook her hand, trying to break free, and twisted her wrist, attempting to bend his arm backward.
"I don't want immortality, I don't want to drink human blood, I don't want to become a ghost! You promised me! You said you would protect me and wouldn't let me become a ghost—you lied! You've been deceiving me!"
Doma's body, as if boneless, turned to the side with her force, and he even deliberately let out a soft groan, pretending to be in pain.
"Oh dear, Chika is so fierce, my arm is going to break~ But it's okay, it will heal right away, you can twist it however you want."
These words completely stunned Qianxia.
"How come I never realized before... that you were such a perverted person..."
You can't kill him by hitting him, and you can't out-seduce him by being too cunning. It's really—
This is infuriating!
Doma watched her furious expression, his smile fading slightly, but it wasn't anger or guilt; instead, it was a tenderness bordering on greed.
He gently twisted his wrist to break free from her grip and carefully stroked her cheek.
"Chika looks really good when she's fierce."
His thumb brushed against the corner of her eye, his voice as soft as cotton, "Look, after becoming a ghost, I'll never get sick again, I'll never grow old again. We can go to many places together, see many beautiful sights, and never be apart again... Isn't that good?"
"Good my ass!" This time, Qianxia didn't dodge, but her body was as stiff as a stone, and her teeth were clenched so hard that her lips trembled.
Doma looked at her bloodshot eyes and suddenly laughed, revealing his little tiger teeth with a sly look.
"If Chinatsu is really angry, why don't you bite me? My blood is sweet, you might like it. Biting is much easier than hitting someone~"
As he spoke, he actually turned his head, bringing the skin of his neck close to hers. Pale blue veins throbbed faintly beneath his pale skin, the life force of a demon flowing within them.
"Look, it's soft and easy to bite," he said in a lighthearted tone, as if sharing candy. "Try it, maybe you won't be so angry after you bite into it?"
Qianxia naturally wouldn't bite. She rolled over and got up, turning to leave. "I can't be bothered with you. I don't want to talk to you. I'm leaving this place, far away from you."
"Can't."
Doma's pupils contracted slightly, and he reached out and pulled the person back into his arms.
"Are you crazy?! Let me go!"
Chika naturally wouldn't let him succeed, and swung her fist to knock him away.
However, the next moment, she lost all her strength again and collapsed limply into Doma's arms.
"I'm so damn lucky."
Having lost all her means of defense, Chika struggled desperately in his arms, using her fists, knees, and feet to beat him while cursing angrily.
"Get off me! You pervert! You're insane! You're crazy!"
Doma looked indifferent. He held her shoulders to steady her, wrapped his arms tightly around her, and rested his chin on her shoulder, letting her vent her emotions on him.
Even though the girl in his arms had become a ghost, she still carried a unique fragrance that made his pores almost open, and a little bubble of pride quietly rose in his heart.
=v=
very nice.
As the fight went on, Chinatsu got tired. She curled up in Douma's arms, completely slumped over. "What... do you want?"
"Didn't I tell you? I'm waiting for you to experience the joy of demons together."
Doma's voice came from beside her shoulder, a satisfied murmur. He gently pushed her away from his embrace, "Heh heh, look."
"Clang—!"
With a loud bang, the surrounding buildings collapsed, and a biting wind howled in, swirling up ice crystals and snowflakes.
Doma held her tightly and pointed forward.
Amidst the smoke and snow of the ruins, a vast and pristine expanse of desolation unfolds before the eyes.
They stood atop a towering mountain, with an endless sea of clouds beneath their feet and the sky seemingly within reach above them.
The continuous snow-capped peaks, like the spine of a giant god, shimmer with a cold and holy silver light under the colorful aurora.
Endless snowflakes drifted silently down from the sky, covering all other colors and dyeing the world a seemingly eternal, solitary white.
“Welcome to our Pure Land of Bliss,” Douma’s voice was exceptionally clear amidst the howling wind and snow, filled with an almost intoxicated admiration, “This is what eternity truly looks like.”
A bone-chilling cold instantly enveloped Chika's entire body, mingling with the icy warmth of the demon's body emanating from her shoulder. Chika gazed at the magnificent yet cruelly desolate, all-consuming white landscape before her, her pupils trembling slightly.
"Humans can do everything infinitely within a limited time and create all infinite possibilities. Ghosts, on the other hand, can do everything they want within an infinite time and create all infinite possibilities."
Doma tightened his grip, his strength so great it felt like he wanted to melt her into his very bones. The words that fell into his ear carried a faint smile.
"I can take you anywhere you want to go."
"Chika, come with me."
Chika gazed at the snow-covered landscape, snowflakes landing on her hair and melting into water droplets, the coolness bringing her back to her senses. She slowly turned to look at Doma.
"You..." she began softly, "Holy crap, are you confessing your feelings? Is this... appropriate?"
The wind still howled in her ears, yet Chika felt an eerie silence all around her. She stared intently at Doma's lips, even holding her breath, afraid of missing a single word he would say next.
"I don't know, who knows?"
The snowstorm seemed to have subsided a bit, leaving only the soft rustling of falling snowflakes. Douma spoke, but what came out was less eloquent than silence: "What is a confession…who knows…"
Chinatsu isn't one to overthink things; she doesn't consider herself emotionally clueless, but clearly, Doma is definitely an idiot.
After a moment's thought, she rephrased her question, "We're in a dream, right?"
Douma's eyes curved into crescents. "Mmm."
Why did you bring me here?
I think you'll be happy.
"But this is a dream."
"Come find me, and we'll set off."
Where else do you want to take me?
"Anywhere is fine, as long as I'm with you."
"Just being with me is enough?"
"uh-huh."
"Why? Wouldn't it be the same if you found someone else?"
Doma shook his head, stuck out the tip of his tongue and lightly licked his lower lip, a childlike joy in his smile, "Being with Chinatsu is much more interesting than being with those people who just cry and beg me to take them to paradise...
Chika exclaimed in surprise, "Interesting? Holy crap, these amazing descriptive words, are you a child? My goodness..."
She gently cupped his face in her hands, her fingertips brushing against the corners of his eyes, feeling his delicate yet cold skin. "How does it feel when I hold your face like this?"
Doma tilted his head and thought for a moment, as if he was trying to discern some unfamiliar emotion.
After a moment, he smiled gently, revealing his small tiger teeth, which looked particularly lively. "Very warm."
Qianxia paused slightly, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
She gazed at the false yet dazzling rainbow in his eyes and suddenly understood something.
The wind picked up a bit more, and the swirling snowflakes hit her face, making her shrink back in shock. Qianxia knelt up, her body swaying slightly from exhaustion.
Doma instinctively held her waist, the warmth of her body seeping through the fabric, making him feel even better.
The next moment, amidst the howling wind and snow, warmth fell upon—
On his lips.
The soft touch was fleeting, and a dazzling array of colors bloomed before his eyes. Doma was completely stunned, his pupils slightly contracting.
Qianxia didn't miss any subtle changes on his face. She looked at his slightly furrowed brows, his unconsciously pursed lips, and the increasingly bright light in his eyes. The vague guess in her heart gradually became clear.
The wind picked up more fiercely, and the swirling snowflakes resembled a white sandstorm, almost engulfing the two figures. The aurora borealis silently swirled overhead, its eerie green and purplish-red halos intertwining, casting their faces in shifting light and shadow.
"You... what kind of idiotic expression is that?"
"Close your eyes, you idiot!"
Well, you got yourself into this mess, so you'll have to deal with it.
