Three-and-a-half-year-old little girl, also known as Ann, lived a life of scarcity and hardship in an orphanage, where even a single steamed bun could lead to beatings and scoldings from the headma...
As they approached the entrance of Bay Villa, Qin Sui’an heard her grandparents’ voices first. She turned to her father, her round eyes shining. "Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa are here!"
Qin Haochen never questioned little one’s words and gently replied, "Let’s hurry so we don’t keep them waiting."
With that, he quickened his pace, holding little Sui’an securely. Ye Rongyuan picked up his speed as well.
Stepping out of Bay Villa, they saw Old Mrs. Ye and Old Mr. Ye by their car, waiting to greet their precious granddaughter.
"Grandma~ Grandpa~" The moment Qin Sui’an spotted them, she called out in her sweet voice.
Her adorable tone melted Old Mrs. Ye’s heart. She smiled warmly, her eyes filled with love as she looked at her approaching granddaughter. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"Ann."
"Good morning, Ann," Old Mr. Ye beamed, greeting his granddaughter before turning to Qin Haochen. "Haochen, good morning. Aren’t you heading to the office yet?"
"Mom, Dad," Qin Haochen nodded at them, then explained, "I’ll head to the company later."
Qin Sui’an tilted her little face up, her bright eyes looking at her dad before reaching out both her small hands toward Grandma. "Grandma, hug~"
Old Mrs. Ye quickly stepped forward, scooping the adorable little one into her arms.
Qin Haochen watched protectively until little Ann was fully embraced, then he relaxed his hold. "Mom, I’ll trouble you to take care of Ann today."
Old Mrs. Ye raised an eyebrow, her tone neutral. "What kind of talk is that?"
Immediately, Qin Sui’an chimed in, "Daddy, Grandma means we’re family, so there’s no need for such talk."
Although little one didn’t fully grasp what "such talk" meant, she sensed that her grandma wasn’t truly cold.
Qin Haochen paused, then smiled. "Okay, Dad understands."
Unbeknownst to Old Mrs. Ye, she assumed her granddaughter had just made a lucky guess, so she didn’t pursue it further. Turning with Ann in her arms, she walked toward their car.
Ye Rongyuan interjected, "Hey, Mom, where are you taking Ann?"
"Ann can’t sit in your car; it’s not safe," Old Mrs. Ye replied firmly without looking back.
Ye Rongyuan’s first reaction was a bit defensive—why wasn’t his car safe? But then he smiled widely.
If Ann rode with his parents, it meant he could leave his car at the Qin family’s place and maybe join them for dinner later!
With a big grin, he readily agreed, "Alright, let her ride with you!"
Old Mrs. Ye easily saw through his thoughts but didn’t call him out. Instead, she added, "Ann is still small; it’s safer in a child seat."
Ye Rongyuan suddenly smacked his forehead. "I totally forgot! Mom, you really think of everything."
He felt a bit petty, having thought his car was being dismissed.
Watching little Sui’an climb into the child seat in her grandparents’ car, Old Mr. Ye turned back to Qin Haochen. "We’ll bring Ann back before dinner."
