The strong wind carried icy air, scraping at their faces like a knife. Shen Qiqi and Lu Qing ran all the way, their hearts pounding like a rabbit in their chests.

From a distance, you can see the simple sheds of the farm shivering in the wind, as if they will be blown apart at any time.

"My little ancestors, please don't get into trouble!" Shen Qiqi muttered to herself, and her pace increased a bit.

Before entering the shed, she heard a commotion inside, mixed with a few weak "clucks", and Shen Qiqi's heart sank instantly.

A strong smell of chicken shit mixed with a damp and moldy smell hit her in the face, choking her so much that she almost staggered.

In the shed, a group of chickens huddled together, shivering, their feathers disheveled, looking listless.

A few little piglets were huddled in a corner, trembling all over and whining, as if they had suffered a great injustice.

Shen Qiqi didn't care about the mess, she walked quickly to the middle of the chickens, squatted down and took a closer look.

The cockscombs are dull in color, some are even purple, and the feathers have lost their luster and feel cold to the touch.

"Oh no, I've caught a cold!" Shen Qiqi's heart tightened, and a chill ran from the soles of her feet to the top of her head.

Lu Qing also squatted down and looked at the group of drooping poultry with a frown.

He knew that these chickens, ducks, and piglets were Shen Qiqi's hard work. If anything happened to them, she would be very sad.

"This...what should I do?" There was a hint of helplessness in Lu Qing's voice.

At this time, Mrs. Lu Er appeared at the door of the shed, with her arms folded across her chest, looking like she was enjoying a good show.

"Hey, isn't this our third sister-in-law? What happened? Is there chicken plague?" She said in a sarcastic tone, with a tone full of gloating.

Shen Qiqi raised her head and gave her a cold look, ignoring her ridicule.

Now is not the time to argue with her, saving these poultry is the most important thing.

"Lu Qing, hurry up and find some hay and rags to seal up the shed first, then bring in a brazier to keep them warm." Shen Qiqi made arrangements quickly, her tone firm and decisive.

Lu Qing turned around and ran out without saying a word.

"Hmph, after all the hard work, it's all for nothing." Second Sister Lu continued to sneer, "I think these chickens and ducks will freeze to death sooner or later. It's better to kill them and eat the meat sooner."

Shen Qiqi took a deep breath and tried hard to suppress the anger in her heart. She didn't have time to waste words with this woman.

She looked at the shivering poultry, her eyes filled with worry, and prayed silently in her heart: "You must hold on, my little ancestors..."

Second Sister-in-law Lu looked at Shen Qiqi's anxious look, a cold smile appeared on the corner of her mouth, and she turned and left the shed, muttering as she walked: "It really serves you right..." She walked to the center of the yard and suddenly raised her voice, "Mom, Third Sister-in-law is causing trouble again!..."

Mrs. Lu's voice echoed in the yard, attracting the attention of other family members.

Mother Lu frowned and walked out of the house, her eyes swept over Shen Qiqi with a bit of dissatisfaction in them.

"Third brother's wife, what's wrong with you? The poultry is in this state, and you haven't solved the problem yet?" Mother Lu's tone was full of blame.

Shen Qiqi took a deep breath, stood up, looked directly at Mother Lu and Second Sister-in-law Lu, and said in a firm and calm voice: "Mother, Second Sister-in-law, I know the chickens, ducks, and piglets are in a bad situation now, but I'm already thinking of a solution. If you don't want to help, forget it, but at least don't make trouble here."

Second Sister-in-law Lu sneered, put her hands on her hips and said, "Third Sister-in-law, you are so confident when you say this. Aren't you just relying on Lu Qing's favor? These poultry will freeze to death sooner or later, so why waste your energy?"

Shen Qiqi ignored Lu Ersao's cold words and turned back to the shed.

She quickly opened up old clothes and hay from her home and began to build a warm nest for the poultry.

Pieces of rags were spread on the ground, covered with layers of hay, and she carefully put each chicken, duck and piglet in to make sure they were all warm.

The temperature in the shed gradually rose, and the poultry gradually regained their vitality and stopped huddling together.

Shen Qiqi touched the feathers of a chick, felt its warm body, and a sense of accomplishment surged in her heart.

She looked at the safe and sound poultry, a smile on her face, and secretly felt relieved: "After all, my work was not in vain."

At this moment, Lu Qing hurried over with a bundle of hay and a pot of charcoal fire, his eyes full of concern: "Qiqi, what's wrong?"

Shen Qiqi stood up, dusted herself off, and said with a smile, "Fortunately, there was no danger, and the poultry are all safe. You came just in time, let's check again together."

Lu Qing nodded, and the two walked into the shed side by side. However, Lu Ersao outside the door did not give up. She stood at the door with a sarcastic smile on her lips, as if waiting for something.

She said coldly: "It seems that you really won't give up..." Then she slowly turned around and disappeared into the night.

As soon as Lu Qing entered the shed, he rolled up his sleeves and started working.

He spread the hay he brought on the rags that Shen Qiqi had laid out earlier, and carefully sealed the gaps in the shed to prevent the cold wind from coming in.

While he was working, he would look up at Shen Qiqi from time to time, his eyes full of love and heartache.

Shen Qiqi felt a little embarrassed when he looked at her, and scolded her, "What are you looking at? Get to work!" Lu Qing chuckled and moved his hands faster.

The charcoal brazier was placed in the middle of the shed. The warm flames illuminated the entire shed and dispelled the chill in Shen Qiqi's heart.
