"Big brother, second brother, let's go back."

"Little sister, Hao Hao has something in his clothes. Remember to keep it safe." Ye Qingshan reminded Ye Xiaoxiao after the car started moving.

"Yes, little sister, I'll send you a copy of the photo back in a while."

Ye Xiaoxiao waved vigorously at them, and Li Chenyang did the same.

The car sped up and quickly left the station. Ye Xiaoxiao was still a little dazed. This time they had seats. Li Chenyang, on the other hand, was in a good mood; they were finally going home.

Ye Xiaoxiao rummaged through Hao Hao's bag and found two large rolls of money. Another two hundred yuan.

"My eldest and second eldest brothers are really generous."

Li Chenyang felt a pang of unease. His wife's family had given them far too much. He wondered if he would ever be able to repay them.

Ye Xiaoxiao put the money away, pretending to put it in her pocket, but actually she put it into her spatial storage.

Nothing particularly eventful happened on the way back, and I arrived home smoothly this time.

When I arrived at the station, it was past nine o'clock at night. I could only call home from the station and ask them to pick me up in the county town the next day.

The two spent the night in a small hotel near the station.

The next morning, I took the bus back to my hometown, the county town. When I got off the bus, my third and fourth brothers were already waiting for me.

Li Chenyang was very happy to be back home. On the way home, he kept telling his younger brothers about the differences between Dongshan and home.

It was already afternoon when they got home. Back home, Ye Xiaoxiao felt dizzy and unwell. She went straight to bed to rest.

Li Chenyang seemed quite energetic.

Ye Xiaoxiao was awakened by her son's crying. When she opened her eyes, she saw her sister-in-law placing Hao Hao on the kang (a heated brick bed) and looking bewildered.

"Sister-in-law, you're awake!" Li Yanni said happily, pointing to her still-crying nephew.

"Haohao is hungry. Haohao is hungry and wants to drink milk."

"Where's your older brother?" Ye Xiaoxiao looked at her sister-in-law, reached out and touched her head, picked up her son and fed him. He felt much better after a nap.

"My older brother is at home. He said you're awake and invited you over for dinner."

"Okay, that's good. Tell your sister-in-law, it's been two weeks since school started, how are your three older brothers doing in their studies?" Ye Xiaoxiao opened the window and looked out. It's Sunday, right? Yanni is here, why aren't those two boys here?

"Hmph, sister-in-law, you don't know, every time I drag my three older brothers to do their homework, my third sister-in-law makes sarcastic remarks, saying that my three older brothers are as stupid as pigs."

Otherwise, she'd drag them along to do this and that for her, constantly disturbing our studies. In the end, Sixth and Seventh Brothers stopped studying properly, and only Fifth Brother obediently did his homework with me.

Li Yanni still prefers her sister-in-law's side. Her sister-in-law even tutors her from time to time.

"Don't be angry. Your sister-in-law will be there soon. You can come here to do your homework after school from now on."

After feeding Hao Hao well, I changed his diaper.

Ye Xiaoxiao put the baby in the stroller and had Li Yanni push it. Ye Xiaoxiao took out a third of the sweet potato noodles and some red peppers from the local specialties her parents had brought her. She planned to take them to her in-laws later.

When Ye Xiaoxiao and the others returned to the old house, there were quite a few people sitting at the door. They were all asking Li Chenyang what Dongshan was like.

Li Chenyang was telling everyone in great detail. These days, it's not easy to travel far from home; who has nothing better to do than spend tens or hundreds of yuan to go out and see the world?

Back when we were organizing rallies, those young people would take the free train and travel around everywhere.

“Over there it’s all flat plains. The rest is pretty much the same as here, mostly villages, and the food is pretty much the same now…” Li Chenyang was saying when he saw his wife coming over.

When everyone saw Ye Xiaoxiao coming over and carrying something, they all wanted to come and see what she had brought back from Dongshan.

"I just brought some homemade sweet potato noodles. And some chili peppers from our farm... that's about it." Ye Xiaoxiao showed everyone the things she brought.

"How do you make vermicelli? This stuff is really rare around here; it's quite expensive at the supply and marketing cooperative."

Wang Ailing then directly pinched off a small piece from inside and put it in her mouth to bite.

Ye Xiaoxiao suppressed a laugh; what could possibly be good about this dried-out stuff? Really… Thinking this, Ye Xiaoxiao simply grabbed a chili pepper.

"Aunt Wang, why don't you try the chili peppers from our area to see if they're spicy enough?"

Wang Ailing immediately waved her hand, "No, no, what's so great about tasting this?" Everyone laughed.

Everyone knows that Aunt Wang is good at taking advantage of others.

Then I saw that the sixth and eighth brothers on the road were holding sticks and running around aimlessly, hitting each other.

"Li Chenjun, Li Chenkai!"

As soon as the fifth and sixth brothers saw their sister-in-law return, they immediately stopped and rushed over, eager to see what she had brought back.

"It's been two weeks since school started, have you two been studying hard?" Ye Xiaoxiao threw her things directly to Li Chenyang, grabbing one ear with each hand.

"Ah, it hurts, sister-in-law, it hurts..."

Ye Xiaoxiao had just grabbed the two disobedient children when Sun Xiuju came out of the house.

"Oh dear, sister-in-law, you're back. Why are you hitting your younger brother as soon as you get back? They're just kids, it's normal for them to like playing. What did they do to upset you again?"

Sun Xiuju was quite annoyed with her eldest daughter-in-law. It was just a trip back to her parents' home, but now the whole family had to wait for her to eat.

“I told you two to go back to school this year, but what’s wrong with you two? You never do your homework! Look at your fifth brother.”
