Chapter 135 The Unknown Nature of the World

After the initial panic, everyone forced themselves to calm down.

What just happened is no longer the most important thing; the most crucial thing now is to avoid becoming the next target.

Mark's father also saw the scene, and his reaction was much calmer than that of the young man. When the scene just happened, he immediately and slowly turned the bow of the boat around, but instead turned off the motor, letting the boat move away by inertia.

Several minutes after the two Greenland whales disappeared beneath the surface and were completely dragged away, the speed bar was finally pushed to its maximum.

It's similar to when you encounter a predator.

When an emergency occurs, panicking and running away at the first sign of trouble is definitely not a wise thing to do.

Creating a lot of splashes on the sea surface makes it easier to attract the attention of underwater creatures such as sharks, and may even draw their attention directly to you. In addition, their boats are not fast and their motors are too loud.

A group of people covered their mouths, and several girls were especially taken care of by the boys around them.

They crouched on the gunwale, secretly observing the surrounding sea, with the spot where the whale had been dragged into the water being the main focus of their observation.

They experienced the feeling of radio silence that submarines used to evade sonar detection during World War II.

Perhaps it's even more terrifying than that; at least being blown up is better than being eaten, even though many crew members might drown if a submarine is hit by a bomb.

No one believes that the two Greenland whales were simply dragged into the water as toys.

As the ship sailed further and further away.

With no useful landmarks around them, they had no idea how far the ship had traveled.

No one dared to make any big moves, and they all quietly climbed into the cabin.

The ship had been sailing at top speed at sea for almost half an hour.

There were no scenes like those in horror or disaster movies.

"Is everything... alright now?"

Someone asked in a low voice.

The group looked at each other and began to whisper among themselves.

"Are we safe now?"

"What was that just now? Was it an octopus tentacle?"

"I don't know, the splash was too big, I couldn't see anything..."

At that moment, Mark returned from the captain's cabin.

"Mark, what did the captain say? Are we safe?"

"Yeah, Mark, are we safe?"

Mark gestured for everyone to be quiet, and then told them, word by word.

“My dad has already called for help via satellite phone, and we are sailing toward the coast. We will be fine.”

Mark's words calmed everyone down a bit and made them feel that they might be safe.

"Mark, does the captain know what that was just now?"

Mark shook his head.

"It was too fast and too terrifying; we didn't see it clearly."

"Wait! Wasn't Prince William's recording left on the whole time?"

The boy known as Prince William simply happens to share the same name as a prince in the British royal family, hence the nickname "Prince".

He also remembered that he had just been filming two whales with a dV camera.

Where is my DV camera?

William searched the cabin but couldn't find his camera.

"It looks like it fell onto the deck when it escaped here. I saw it."

A girl told William dV the possible location; she was the one who had just screamed.

Mark and William then carefully made their way onto the deck, retrieved the camera, and quickly ran back to the cabin.

Although things seemed calm on the outside, nobody wanted to court disaster.

The dV power supply and recording were never turned off.

A dozen or so people surrounded William, watching him replay the footage.

First, there was a long segment of party revelry, then photos with tuna, all of which were fast-forwarded.

Soon after, when the Greenland whale was spotted, the camera recorded gasps of amazement and praise from the crowd.

But then, the sound of the sea exploding came, and everyone's voices turned to terror.

A woman screamed "Ahhhhhh!" followed by Mark's words, "Shut up, don't scream."

Except for the girl who looked a little embarrassed, everyone else stared intently at the screen.

"Rewind and slow down the playback speed."

William followed Mark's instructions, rewinding the video by one minute and then slowing it down by five times.

In slow motion.

The sea surface exploded, and many tentacles shot out from the sea like sharp swords, then entangled the two enormous whales.

Finally, it was slowly dragged into the water.

"It looks like... octopus tentacles? But it doesn't quite look like them."

What are those sharp-looking things around the suction cup?

"I absolutely do not believe these are the tentacles of an octopus or squid!!"

"At this size, the tentacles alone are tens of meters long. No octopus or squid can have this size."

The American girl Mark liked said what everyone was thinking.

"This is the Kraken, and its legend is true!"

Two hours later, the Norwegian coast guard found the fishing boat.

That evening, a Twitter account with the username "Fake Prince William" posted a new status.

The content consists of a short video and a sentence; the video is very brief, only a few minutes long.

The gist of the story is that the group of college students saw two whales and were excitedly amazed. Then came the whole dramatic turn of events, culminating in the camera suddenly collapsing to the ground and filming the deck for a few seconds.

The message was: "Having witnessed the Kraken at the risk of one's life, this world is far more mysterious than we imagine. We should reflect on why Newton and Einstein questioned the existence of God in their later years."

Many "professionals" pointed out that the video was fake, but many more were excited.

Many people are bringing up older videos about vampires and discussing them alongside this latest video.

However, the tweet was erased from all traces in less than half an hour after it was posted, including being retweeted by countless people in a very short time.

However, some people had already downloaded the video immediately.

This tweet became the famous Kraken sighting, or the Norse sea monster sighting.

In some relatively secretive government agencies around the world, the incident is commonly referred to as a sighting in Norwegian waters.

Compared to the renewed surge of sectarian cult activity online, science is more inclined to believe that this is a previously undiscovered new species.

But it has also prompted many people to reflect.

Do humans truly understand the Earth? Are we truly clear about our history?
