Chapter Three: Advanced Ghouls
Li Tianyi ran at full speed, occasionally pulling the trigger of the Zhuge Crossbow, and the swift arrows pierced the heads of several demons.
He shouted breathlessly, "Hurry up, let's go!"
The monster approached, its face bearing a hideous scar, its eyes vacant, its body covered in blood, its fingernails half a meter long, and it roared angrily.
"Ding! Advanced ghoul detected. Host, please be careful!"
Following the prompt, Li Tianyi looked up and saw an iron box emitting a blue light hanging above the head of the advanced ghoul.
The high-level ghouls roared as they charged forward, and ordinary ghouls scattered in their wake.
It rushed to Li Tianyi's side in the blink of an eye.
The nimble claws descended swiftly.
Li Tianyi leaned back repeatedly, his sharp claws scraping across his clothes, causing a dull ache.
"Brother, be careful!" Xiaoman was so anxious she was about to cry.
roar!
The lurking cannibals charged toward Xiaoman in unison.
Upon seeing his sister in danger, Li Tianyi disregarded whether the advanced ghouls would harm him, swung his sword with all his might, and pulled out his crossbow, firing wildly.
Swish, swish, swish!
Several low-level ghouls collapsed instantly.
Xiaoman's crisis was temporarily averted, but Li Tianyi's crisis was escalating. The sharp claws of the advanced ghoul had already slashed through his back, and blood was gushing out.
Stimulated by the smell of blood, the advanced cannibals became even more ferocious, their claws and gaping maws striking down simultaneously.
Li Tianyi slid forward with his head down, getting between its legs and behind it, and slashed its neck with a knife. The flesh turned outward, but the bone was not damaged.
"This can't kill you?" Li Tianyi was calmer than ever before, carefully recalling the details of slaying the demon, his gaze fixed on the back of the head.
He gripped the knife with both hands, leaped into the air with all his might, using every ounce of strength he had.
*Clang! Swish!*
The advanced cannibal blocked with his right arm, his fingernails were severed, and the watermelon knife shattered along with them.
Without a suitable weapon, Li Tianyi dared not confront it head-on. He retreated to his sister's side and pulled her towards the school gate.
The roars of low-level and high-level ghouls echoed continuously from behind.
The monsters were relentlessly pursuing him. Li Tianyi made an important decision, took out another Zhuge Crossbow from his storage space, and said, "Take this and run as fast as you can!"
Xiaoman knew exactly what he was up to, and cried out, "We'll live together, we'll die together!"
"Let's get going!"
Li Tianyi pushed her forward with all his might, while he himself retreated.
The advanced cannibals pounced with all their might.
Just as its nimble claws were about to pierce its chest, Li Tianyi's lips curled into a sinister smile, and a dagger precisely pierced its forehead.
It knelt down softly.
Li Tianyi quickly touched the iron treasure chest, and a crisp electronic sound rang out: "Ding! Iron treasure chest successfully opened, you have obtained a Tang Hengdao!"
"The first time you open an Iron Treasure Chest, you will be rewarded with a radio."
This knife is nearly 1.1 meters long, but weighs less than 3 kilograms, making it extremely easy to hold.
Li Tianyi swung it a few times with satisfaction, and his eyes fell on the words "Po Jun" on the blade. "What a fine Tang Heng Dao!"
"Brother, watch out!" Xiaoman shot and killed two approaching ghouls as she ran.
Li Tianyi glanced at the corpse beside him with lingering fear, and quickly reunited with his sister.
The two siblings took turns covering each other and finally rushed to the school gate, where limbs and bodies were scattered everywhere, blood flowed like a river, and mutilated internal organs emitted a nauseating stench.
In the very center, a group of cannibals pounced on the fallen student, biting him frantically.
Li Tianyi gave him a look: Quietly go around.
Xiaoman, however, thought they could still be saved, and decisively pulled the trigger, firing several crossbow bolts.
The sound of something cutting through the air startled most of the cannibals, who charged forward with strange cries.
At the same time, a girl with a pale face, holding a brick, rushed out from the corner by the door, crying, "Help, help me, help me!"
Xiaoman thought the voice sounded familiar, so she turned around and asked, "Senior Wang Xueer, what are you doing here?"
Wang Xue'er was too terrified, her mind was a complete mess, and she couldn't remember who the person was at all. But her survival instinct made her follow the two of them.
Li Tianyi, however, did not want to take her with him and deliberately kept his distance from her.
Xiaoman pulled the trigger on the Zhuge crossbow and stood back-to-back with him. "Brother, she's a very nice person. Can we take her with us?"
Li Tianyi was struggling internally. It was hard to say whether he and his sister could even make it back to the mountains. If they brought along an outsider who couldn't even kill a chicken, their chances of winning would be even lower.
"Brother, please!" Xiaoman tugged at his collar, staring intently at him.
In Li Tianyi's memory, his younger sister rarely asked him for favors. Since she had asked, this person must be very important to her, so he quickly pulled Wang Xueer to his side.
The force was a bit too much; her mouth just grazed Li Tianyi's face.
The man's scent filled her nostrils, and Wang Xue'er instantly snapped out of her fright, her cheeks flushing red. "You?"
Li Tianyi had no time to appreciate the beauty's shy demeanor. He handed her a dagger and shouted sharply, "Take this if you don't want to die, and we'll fight our way out!"
Wang Xueer took the dagger and nodded emphatically.
Li Tianyi brought up the rear, while Wang Xueer and Xiaoman walked ahead...
A certain location in Dafeng Town.
All three of them were so exhausted that they were out of breath and leaned against the wall for a short rest.
As Li Tianyi was looking around to see if any demons were chasing after him, he caught a glimpse of a strange beam of light, deep reddish-yellow with a hint of red. Turning his head, he saw a dazzling crimson-gold treasure chest floating above Wang Xue'er's head.
"Damn it!" Li Tianyi was so excited that he blurted out the national treasure.
Xiaoman and Wang Xueer looked at him as if he were a monster.
"Hehe, it's nothing, it's nothing!" If it were only his younger sister here, Li Tianyi would have told her without hesitation. He didn't know Wang Xue'er and didn't dare to take the risk, so he just laughed it off.
Waaah...
"Damn monsters are chasing us again, let's get out of here!"
The three of them dragged their exhausted bodies and ran wildly toward the back mountain.
She didn't know how much time had passed when Wang Xue'er suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed.
Li Tianyi rushed to help, his elbow bumping into the floating crimson gold treasure chest.
"Ding! This type of treasure chest requires a key to open!"
"Damn it!" Li Tianyi cursed inwardly. "This damn system, where am I supposed to find the key again?"
"Ding! Push it down to get the key!"
"Damn it!" Li Tianyi cursed repeatedly, but the system remained silent.
With a sullen face, he carried Wang Xue'er for a while, saying, "She looks thin, but she's heavier than a pig when I carry her!"
"Hehe!" Xiaoman laughed loudly, "If Sister Xue'er knew you talked about her like that, she would definitely fight you to the death!"
Li Tianyi was exasperated and quickened his pace.
Ten minutes passed in the blink of an eye.
The three of them finally arrived at the entrance to Dafeng Mountain. Li Tianyi was completely exhausted and quickly put Wang Xueer down, leaning against the boundary marker to rest.
But my right middle finger touched something.
Li Tianyi suddenly sprang to his feet, and an electronic voice suddenly sounded: "Ding! Iron Treasure Chest opened, obtained the fragment of Xinyou Sword Technique!"
A passage of obscure and difficult-to-understand text entered my mind, and a sharp pain shot through my temples.
"Brother, are you alright?" Xiaoman asked worriedly.
"It's alright! It's very unsafe here, we need to get back to the mountains quickly!" Li Tianyi forced himself to stay alert and pulled Wang Xue'er up.
She slowly woke up, "Where am I?"
"No time to explain, let's go up the mountain!" Xiaoman helped her up.
The three of them helped each other and finally made it back into the house.
"You guys go to sleep first, I'll go get some food!" Xiaoman, a girl not yet sixteen, didn't think there was anything wrong with what she said.
Li Tianyi and Wang Xueer, however, understood it to mean something else entirely, and quickly separated, each heading towards their own bedroom...
