Half an hour later, at the library.

Li Tianyi kicked open the door, his eyes searching for his sister.

Not far away, Xiaoman was curled up in a corner sobbing, her cheeks swollen from being hit and bloodstains on the corner of her mouth.

"You beast!" Li Tianyi rushed towards his sister.

A young man with a punk hairstyle, his eyes gleaming with malice, stood in front of Li Tianyi and shouted, pointing a long stick at him, "Did Scarface tell you to move? Guys, he's itching for a beating, loosen his bones!"

Several street thugs approached, banging on their long sticks and grinning sinisterly.

Their escape route was completely blocked.

Li Tianyi clenched his fists, glaring fiercely at Scarface. "If you want to fight, fight me! Let my sister go!"

Xiaoman was terrified and gestured with her eyes: Brother, run!

Scarface let out a strange laugh, pressing his long stick against Li Tianyi's shoulder. "I'm afraid of getting my hands dirty if I hit you, you coward! Kneel down and sing 'Conquer'!"

"Don't even think about it!" A fierce killing intent flashed in Li Tian's eyes as he glared at his opponent, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of his sister's terrified expression and slowly loosened his fist.

"What? You want to fight?" Scarface glared at him, his face full of disdain, and slapped Li Tianyi's face hard. "Coward, you wouldn't dare lay a finger on me even if I gave you ten lives!"

Li Tianyi kept telling himself that he couldn't act impulsively for his sister's sake.

Scarface was secretly pleased with himself. He patted Li Tianyi on the shoulder with a sly grin. "It's fine if you don't have to kneel and sing 'Conquer'. How about this! Send your sister to Scarface for a few days, and we'll be family. Maybe after I'm done, I won't bother you anymore! Haha..."

"Tsk tsk tsk, I heard this little vixen is still a virgin!"

"Boss, make sure everyone gets their share!"

Li Tianyi's face was ashen, his anger rising to the top of his head, and his eyes filled with murderous intent.

Scarface was about to strike a second time when a sharp pain shot through his chest. He looked down slowly, his face filled with disbelief, to find a gleaming watermelon knife stuck in his chest.

"You, you? Pfft..."

Scarface fell straight down.

The sudden turn of events left the street thugs completely bewildered.

Don't be fooled by their usual arrogance. They only dare to intimidate others, at most gang up on honest people. They wouldn't dare to kill anyone, not even if you gave them a million lives.

This was Li Tianyi's first time killing someone, and he was quite frightened. He quickly stepped in front of Xiaoman, pulled out a dagger, pointed it at the crowd, and shouted, "Get out of here if you don't want to die!"

The street thugs immediately scattered and fled.

In the blink of an eye, the library became quiet.

Li Tianyi pulled his sister up, hugged her tightly, gently patted her back, and softly comforted her, "It's alright, it's alright! Don't be afraid, I'm here, I'm here!"

Xiaoman cried her heart out.

A few minutes later, Xiaoman stopped crying, slowly pushed Li Tianyi away, and her eyes flashed with terror. "Brother, we've killed someone! Let's run!"

In the past, Li Tianyi would have actually taken her and escaped, but now that the apocalypse has arrived, there's no need to consider such things at all.

Li Tianyi briefly explained the current situation and said with a wry smile, "Level zero monsters have appeared, everyone is on edge, who cares whether you've killed anyone or not!"

A wooden box was hanging outside the door.

The chest was opened, and a bottle of healing medicine was obtained.

He quickly caught up with Xiaoman, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw several level-zero monsters devouring a struggling street urchin on the playground.

In the far distance, several terrified street urchins were fleeing.

"What the hell is this? No, don't come any closer, don't come any closer!"

"Mom, help! Help!"

"I don't want to die! I don't want to die!"

Several screams rang out, and the street thugs all became the monster's food.

Xiaoman was so frightened that her face turned pale and she trembled all over. She didn't even realize that the watermelon knife had fallen to the ground.

"Ding! Friendly reminder: Human corpses infected by monster blood will mutate within ten minutes!"

"Scarface has been dead for eight minutes!"

Li Tianyi panicked, quickly picked up the watermelon knife, and dragged his sister downstairs.

Just as I reached the corner of the stairs, two sharp claws attacked. I quickly ducked, cleaved the claws vertically with my watermelon knife, and they snapped off instantly.

Before the demon could react, Li Tianyi struck directly at the demon's forehead, and a green bead appeared.

Xiaoman was terrified by the monster's ferocious appearance and quickly covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming.

"Little sister, you need to adapt as soon as possible!" Li Tianyi cautiously surveyed his surroundings. "If I'm not mistaken, there aren't many survivors left in the entire No. 1 Middle School of the town. Before the monsters gather in large numbers, let's escape back to the mountains and figure out a way to survive!"

"Okay!" Xiaoman took deep breaths to calm her frightened heart.

The two proceeded cautiously until they finally arrived at the guardhouse downstairs.

Lights flashed overhead, bulbs flickered, and bloodstains covered the walls and floor, with a strong, fishy stench mixed with a foul odor.

Xiaoman clung tightly to Li Tianyi's clothes, her head bowed, unable to look at him.

The door to the guardhouse suddenly opened, revealing several haphazardly gnawed corpses of security guards lying inside.

When you look at the surveillance cameras, most of the screens have lost signal. Only a few still show images, either of monsters chasing people or monsters eating corpses.

Li Tianyi's expression grew even more serious, and he whispered, "Let's go quickly!"

Upon arriving at the playground, two monsters were seen wandering in the distance.

Xiaoman nodded.

Using the vegetation as cover, we cautiously approached the area near the very center of the playground.

There was no vegetation in front, and the view was open and unobstructed.

Li Tianyi estimated the distance to be about two hundred meters and asked in a low voice, "Little sister, what's your speed at two hundred meters?"

“Close to forty seconds!” Xiaoman replied.

"Alright!" Li Tianyi pointed to the big tree in the distance, "When I tell you to run, just keep running, and no matter what you hear, don't look back!"
