Brains Out Waiting for the Apocalypse, Stockpiling Food with a Space

Lin Yue has been having a recurring dream recently. One scene depicts the global apocalypse arriving on June 15th. The other scene shows her tied up and bound, suspended in a warehouse with over te...

Chapter 53 The daylily is getting cold.

Lin Yue knew what the old man was thinking without him having to explain.

She turned to Cang Yu and said, "Cang Yu, can you make room for four boxes for me?"

With four boxes, as long as no one insists on seeing them, it will be assumed that the old man only changed one painting, which is safer.

"Okay!" Cang Yu, the tool, responded and immediately got to work.

While opening the box, Lin Yue suddenly remembered that when the old man was chatting with her earlier, he mentioned that his family had many antiques.

Her eyes lit up; she had almost forgotten about it.

"Grandpa, you just said that you have a lot of antiques at home. Would you like to exchange them? I'd like to exchange them all with you."

If the antiques in the old lady's house are all genuine, then the space should be upgraded by a whole level this time. She thinks the small bungalow in the space is too ugly.

"Yes, we've changed it!" the old man exclaimed excitedly.

He was just worried about what to do after eating all that grain.

"Should we replace it all at once, or in batches?"

She prefers to replace them all at once to avoid any accidents that might happen to the antiques if they are kept for too long, as it is quite difficult to find antiques these days.

However, considering the elderly person's situation, it seems impractical to replace it all at once.

The old man thought for a moment and replied, "Replace it all at once."

Their house is next to the police station, so no one should dare to rob it. But if they keep moving out, they might get robbed on the street one of these days.

"Okay, then go back and take inventory, decide what you want to exchange and how much. Come over and tell me at this time tomorrow, I'll make preparations, and I'll come to your house to pick it up the day after tomorrow morning, and deliver it to you as well. However, you must guarantee that every single item is genuine; if any are fake, I definitely won't accept them."

She sent them over not because she was kind-hearted, but simply to prevent those antiques from flying away. And, she was determined to exchange genuine goods for their value, and she would never be taken advantage of.

"Thank you, thank you!" the old man said, bowing to Lin Yue.

He met some kind people and had food. Perhaps he and his wife would actually see their son and grandson come looking for them. He firmly believed that they were still alive, just not back yet.

Lin Yue stepped aside, ignoring the old man's polite gesture: "Please pack up the rice and go back!"

"Hey! Hey!"

The old man kept only half a pound of leftover rice in a cloth bag, and put the rest into the box that held the paintings, put it in a burlap sack, carried it on his back, and left.

“There’s nothing worth visiting at the market, let’s go to the government affairs hall,” Lin Yue said to Cang Yu.

Cang Yu: "Okay!"

"I'll drive!"

She hadn't driven since leaving W City, and felt like she was getting rusty.

"OK!"

Lin Yue glanced at Cang Yu and suddenly realized that he was talking a little less.

On the other side, the old man walked through the market with a smile on his face. Someone saw him and immediately asked, "Professor Qin, did you sell your painting? How much grain did you get in return?"

Professor Qin replied with a smile, "Yes, it's been exchanged. That girl was kind; she gave me half a pound of rice for the painting and the box!"

After saying that, he left without waiting for the other person to say anything more.

After the person walked away, the one who had asked the question spat, "I thought they'd exchanged quite a lot, but they're so happy about half a pound of moldy rice. Those two old geezers should just die already, hogging such a nice house; no one else could get a piece of it. If it weren't for being next to the police station..."

"Chen Lao Er, watch your mouth!" said a man who had a stall nearby. He lived next door to the two elderly people. They rarely went out and were very kind. Last time, when his family was out, the two elderly people even helped them take care of their children. If he had the means, he would definitely have helped the two elderly people.

Alas! Natural disasters are a double-edged sword!

...

After Lin Yue and Cang Yu finished learning about the situation at the government service hall, they went home.

While Lin Yue was sparring with Cang Lang, Cang Yu measured all the doors in the house, big and small, and noted down the dimensions. If they matched the doors he had previously stockpiled, he simply removed them and replaced them with the new ones; if they didn't match, he made new ones.

Even though it's the end of the world, as long as you have the materials and can afford the supplies, there will naturally be good craftsmen who can build the door.

Lin Yue wanted to plant crops, so the land definitely couldn't be hardened anymore. After finishing the work, Cang Yu started turning the soil over.

After Lin Yue finished her workout and took a shower, she saw Cang Yu digging in the ground behind her. Curious, she came down to his side. He had already marked out four plots of land, making them neat and straight, even better than she had done.

"Cang Yu, is there anything you can't do?"

The hand that holds the weapon looks rather nice holding a hoe.

"I can't cook," Cang Yu replied without looking up.

"Alright!" Lin Yue touched her nose.

Cang Yu's cooking is really just about getting the food cooked through; even if there's some improvement, it's just that it's cooked a little better and has a bit of flavor.

Nothing much happened that evening, so the two practiced for another three hours before going to sleep.

The next morning, after breakfast, the two arrived at the market just in time.

Li Mazi and the old man had been waiting for a while. When they saw them coming, they all came up together.

When the old man saw Li Mazi arrive, he immediately recognized Li Mazi's identity and recalled their long conversation the day before. He guessed that the two of them probably wanted to exchange something from him.

So he handed the list he had prepared to Lin Yue: "Young lady, this is the list I made. See if it's okay. My home is on the second floor of the building next to the police station, in the first apartment on the left. You can just go there tomorrow morning."

"Okay, you wait at home. I'll be there at nine o'clock tomorrow morning." Lin Yue glanced at the form and put it in her pocket.

By nine o'clock, everyone who was supposed to leave had already left, so there shouldn't be many people left in the building. Delivering something there wouldn't attract attention.

"Hey! I'll wait at home, I'm not going anywhere. You guys chat, I'm going home now. Goodbye!" His wife had cooked some soft rice and was waiting for him at home!

"Goodbye!" After watching the old man leave, Lin Yue turned to Li Mazi.
