Chapter 63 Fruit Meeting A fruit meeting, you…

Chapter Sixty-Three

"Wow, looks like I'll be eating fruit for the next month?"

Jason crossed his arms, raised an eyebrow at the mountain of fruit in front of him, walked over and picked one up casually. It looked a bit like an egg, but was light blue. He curiously tapped it with his finger, and it felt exactly like an egg. He looked at Enid, waiting for her to explain.

"Blue eggs?"

"Ah... um, this is called the Blue Flower of the High Mountains. After lightly roasting it over a fire, you can peel off the outer skin. The inside smells like bread, but when you bite into it, it's soft and slightly grainy, with a slightly sweet roasted chestnut flavor. If you roast it, it will taste like milk, but without any milky smell!"

Hearing Enid's enthusiastic introduction, Jason became slightly interested and picked out several oddly shaped items. Enid noticed Jason's interest and excitedly introduced each item. Afu remained silent for a moment, quietly preparing a tray, ready to prepare the fruit according to Enid's instructions.

Dick put his arm around Enid, letting her sit next to him. Enid instinctively sat on his lap. Dick paused for a moment, his muscles tensing up, then he tried to relax. He noticed Jason's gaze but pretended not to see it.

Jason picked out several things that everyone found strange: a light pink one that looked like deer antlers, a white one that resembled a heart, a purple one that looked like a fluffy ball, and a small green spiky ball. When Jason saw the small green spiky ball, he subconsciously glanced at Damian.

Damian glared at Jason, then picked up a red egg and placed it on the table, while Stephanie unabashedly picked up the small purple pom-pom.

“This looks a lot like mine.” She winked, referring, of course, to her own uniform.

"This is called Pure Shining Moon. When you peel it open, you'll find golden flesh inside. The texture is a bit like an apple, but the taste is a stubborn sweetness and a refreshing feeling."

When Stephanie saw Enid give her a super cute wink while she was talking about this, everyone seemed to know that she was being referred to. No one objected; they all expressed similar agreement. Stephanie couldn't help but laugh, and then she looked at the little green spiky ball.

“This… this is called the Sharp Green Demon, um… most books say it’s inedible,” Enid paused, then, seeing that no one seemed to be fooled, gave Dick a pitiful look. Dick immediately chimed in, “So it’s inedible? I bet that’s impossible, right? Could the great Druid Lord explain this to us?”

“Of course not,” Enid ignored Jason’s sneer. “If you soak this fruit in warm water, the thorns will fall off, and then you can eat it directly. It has a texture a bit like jelly, and the taste is sweet, like watermelon.”

Damian rarely refrained from commenting on the fruit, only having Enid describe the red one. The red one is called the Mountain Red Flower, but its usage is completely different. You gently tap the outer shell, and the inside becomes liquid-like, expanding slightly to a creamy consistency—sweet and soft.

"So can this replace cream?" Afu asked thoughtfully.

"Yes! Many places use this instead of cream, and it's healthier than cream and won't make you fat."

The description of the fruit in the otherworldly baking section is incredibly detailed, portraying it as something extraordinary. Enid was astonished upon seeing it and declared she absolutely had to plant it and try it out; otherwise, why would anyone write such a eulogy for it? Enid's affirmation piqued Astolfo's interest, and he seemed ready to experiment and see what he could use it for.

Before trying, however, Afu picked up a large, round, black fruit that was almost too big for him to hold in both hands.

"Miss Fia, perhaps you could first decipher this poor old man's secret: what is this?"

“Ah, this is called… um, Silent Love. Because this fruit is mostly used as a projectile weapon, since it’s very hard, but actually it’s something like…” Enid fell silent, unsure how to describe the word, but Tim spoke up from the side, “a non-Newtonian fluid, right?”

“Yes! This is it! It can be opened with a gentle touch, and the fruit inside is like cotton candy!” Enid was happy to know what it was, but then she suddenly thought of something, “I wonder if Father can have a taste.”

Afu smiled as he looked at the fruit. Clearly, he wasn't the only one thinking the same thing, but no one said it aloud. "Of course, Miss Fia. The master is still busy and will probably be back later. He will definitely like the fruit you prepared, Miss."

Stephanie glanced at the fruits again, but Barbara came over carrying several: a gray, transparent, crystal-like fruit, and a red, fuzzy one. She was more interested in the gray one, so she handed one to Enid, who accepted it with a smile.

“This is called the Unremarkable Rainbow because it’s as clear and transparent as crystal. It changes into all sorts of colors in the sunlight. You can wash it and eat it. It’s crisp and sweet, but when it’s on the tree, it looks gray and inconspicuous.” Enid handed it to Cassan.

Cassan reached out and took the fruit Enid offered. Holding it up to the sunlight streaming through the window, the gray, crystal-like fruit, kissed by the sunlight, shimmered with iridescent light.

"Very impressive."

"There's another one called Absolute Anchor Point, which comes in many colors. But the most amazing one is from a very, very big tree. So if you have a tree at home, you'll never forget the way home. It has a very calming aroma and is not very sweet, but it's very filling and can be eaten as a staple food."

Jason glanced at all the fruits there but couldn't find one that looked quite similar. He gestured for Enid to point it out, and Enid nodded, pointing to a fruit that was about half the size of her, with a light brown skin.

"Looks like I can start thinking about what to have for dinner tonight."

"Great! The sweetness is even milder after cooking, and it tastes even better!"

Dick rested his head on Enid's shoulder, his arms around her waist. Enid naturally leaned into Dick's embrace and touched the back of his hand.

"So, this was our druids' staple food before?"

“Um… actually, no. There are other kinds, many staple foods, like this antler-like one, which tastes a lot like a potato.” Enid paused. “But actually, I prefer this one, the Blue Fantasy floating in mid-air.”

The small blue berries were transported here by Enid using magic. They floated lightly in mid-air, tasting somewhat like soft air sprinkled with sugar. However, growing these berries was a difficult process, as the trees that bore them were favored by many parasitic plants. Nevertheless, these trees still grew very tall, just slowly, which is why their berries were so small.

"Hmm... what is that?"

Barbara brought over a red, fuzzy fruit, an oval fruit about the size of a palm. Its fuzzy appearance is similar to the fur of a small animal. It is called "Stubborn Warmth," a fruit that grows very resiliently. It has a soft, sweet, and sandy texture, and eating it makes you feel warm. It grows in the coldest places.

"It looks like there's a white heart there too."

Tim smiled, but when he picked up the white heart, it turned red—okay, that's getting a bit too realistic—so he put it back, and it was still red.

"This is called 'real.' White is the original color, but it turns red when it comes into contact with body temperature. However, the fruit is white and has a somewhat firm texture. But it tastes delicious when cooked with the outer skin; it has a very gentle sweetness. The tree that produces this fruit is usually used for building walls, but the heartwood is very soft and cottony, which can keep you warm."

What Enid didn't say was that the blue fantasy floating in mid-air was actually very easy to perish, because it too could burn out, just as reality could have its fragile moments.

"A very interesting fruit."

Afu praised her and said he would take care of it later. Everyone could try it later. Enid raised her hand to indicate that she could help. After she stood up, Dick, who was next to her, also said that he would go together.

"Speaking of which, would you like to try some? Hmm, my special fruit salad?" After Afu declined Enid's help, Enid suddenly thought of something and became quite interested, while the others fell silent.

Are you sure we won't get diarrhea?

"I guarantee it! Will Dick testify correctly?"

She deliberately gave Dick a cute and pitiful look, and Dick raised his hands in surrender. He couldn't withstand this kind of attack and shrugged helplessly.

“Alright, I’ll vouch for you.” He paused for a moment. “Well, Fia’s cooking is edible, at least her boiled dishes are quite good. And her salads should be good too, since they don’t require fire, right?”

Enid listened and showed an expression of agreement. Dick knew, of course, that Enid wouldn't be angry about the teasing. In fact, she was quite proud of it. She didn't really care about her cooking skills; she just thought it was fun to joke around with everyone.

“Okay, you said it,” Jason said, feigning agreement.

“I trust Fia’s salad-making skills!” Stephanie agreed sincerely, believing that the salad was fine.

With everyone's approval, Enid had now completely secured her immunity from punishment. She grabbed Dick's hand and ran to the kitchen to prepare tonight's salad dinner. The others exchanged glances, and Tim casually remarked...

"Looks like we don't have to worry anymore. After all, it's just a salad, and Dick will be fine."

"I agree."

Barbara agreed with this statement. Although Dick sometimes ate cereal or tookout, his cooking skills were still quite good. Moreover, there was Alfred in the kitchen, who could easily keep Enid in check.

Everyone was relieved then, well, I guess?
