Luo Sheng called the leading official aside and showed him a sign away from the crowd.

Being quite far away and surrounded by noise, Xiao Yunying couldn't hear what Luo Sheng said to the officials. She only saw the officials nodding in agreement before leaving with their men.

The official didn't dare delay and returned to the prefectural office to inform the county magistrate, who then dispatched all available personnel to search every street.

He was puzzled, wondering about the girl's background, how she not only gained the Chen family's favor but was also able to marry the youngest general of the Luo family.

Luo Sheng glanced at the two people hidden in the crowd in the distance without making a sound, and gave them a wink.

The two clasped their hands in a gesture of respect, then turned and left the crowd.

Xiao Yunying limped over: "Are those your people? Can they find Xin'er?"

Luo Ying was surprised by her keen observation: "They just happened to come to deliver a letter to me today. One is good at hiding and the other is good at tracking. Don't worry, I will find Xin'er as soon as possible."

He looked at Xiao Yunying's injuries; she had fallen so hard that a piece of skin had been scraped off her chin, and the wound was bloody and gruesome: "I'll take you to see a doctor first."

Xiao Yunying knew that there was no use in being anxious now, and that she couldn't help in her injured state, so she agreed.

After taking a couple of steps, I felt my right ankle getting more and more painful, and I couldn't help but gasp.

I didn't feel much pain when my nerves were on edge, but now that the initial shock has passed, I feel a piercing pain in my ankle.

Seeing that Xiao Yunying's face was contorted with pain, Luo Sheng picked her up and carried her horizontally, saying, "I'm sorry."

Xiao Yunying exclaimed in surprise, realizing that Luo Sheng had picked her up. Without any pretense, she thanked him directly: "Thank you."

Luo Yong remained silent, told the children to follow him carefully, and carried Xiao Yunying to the nearest clinic.

Her body was covered in external injuries from the fall. Except for her ankle, which was quite badly injured, the rest were just skin and flesh wounds, without any damage to her bones or muscles.

What followed was a long wait.

During this time, Cheng Yue saw off the man who helped her flag down the car, and then inquired about the clinic. Seeing that Xiao Yunying's wounds had been treated, she hurriedly went back to close the shop and asked all the employees to go out and search for her.

The three Luo brothers, being sensible, did not cause any trouble. Even though they were anxious, they suppressed their worries and quietly stayed by Xiao Yunying's side, silently accompanying her as she waited for news.

Xiao Yunying assured her, "I won't hold you back."

When the Luo brothers saw that their parents were going, they all wanted to go with them. Luo Sheng had no choice but to have a carriage brought over.

Following Luo Sheng's men through a maze of twists and turns, they arrived at an alley. When the carriage stopped, Xiao Yunying lifted the curtain and asked, "Have we arrived?"

There were many officials and constables guarding the area ahead, and it seemed that they had only found their residence and had not yet subdued them.

An official came over and said, "Young Master Luo, those two inside are criminals wanted by the Lincheng government. They are brothers who committed all sorts of evil deeds, such as robbery and plunder in the past. We don't know why they are in Donglin City."

Xiao Yunying gripped the carriage curtain tightly: "They had a clear target, they were targeting Xin'er whom I was holding, they must be acting under someone's orders."

Luo Sheng dismounted and said to Xiao Yunying, "I'll go in first, you wait here."

"Luo Sheng!" Xiao Yunying called out to him, "You must ensure Xin'er's safety."

Luo Sheng solemnly made a promise: "Trust me."

Then he led his men into the alley.

Luo Sheng did not keep Xiao Yunying waiting for long. In less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, they heard officials come to invite them in.

Xiao Yunying hurriedly got off the carriage, which made Luo Yang frown: "Mother, slow down, be careful not to get hurt."

"It's alright, just stay behind me, but don't get too close."

She followed the official who was leading the way into a courtyard and immediately saw Xin'er being held by Luo Sheng.

"Xin'er!"

When Luo Xin saw her mother coming over, her emotions, which she had been holding back, suddenly burst into tears.

She also mumbled a complaint, her words slightly slurred: "Mother, Xin'er is so scared! That wicked woman pinched Xin'er's arm and said she'd have someone sell Xin'er far away to serve men. And... Xin'er can't remember, but anyway, she's so mean..."

Xiao Yunying wanted to pick up Luo Xin, but unfortunately, she aggravated her injuries and had to give up the idea, letting Luo Sheng continue to hold her.

Hearing Luo Xin's sobbing, she tenderly wiped away her tears, rolled up her sleeve, and saw that the little girl's delicate arms were covered with red, swollen bruises.
