Chapter 49
Shelley only stopped her horrific electrocution after almost the entire substation had been blown up and was now fully restored.
When Shelley stood up, she shook the ball of molten iron off her head and looked around at her surroundings, slightly bewildered.
Where is this place?
It's quite obvious that when Shelley was beaten down to only half a body, he certainly wouldn't have any clothes left.
Everyone present consciously shifted their attention, except for Vladimir.
Vladimir seemed to want to say something. However, before he could utter a sound, Louis slammed a brick into Vladimir's face at almost supersonic speed—Cervantes, who had been staring at the brick in Stevenson's hand for a while, was completely bewildered, trying to distract himself.
Immediately afterward, Louis, moving at a speed comparable to Don Quixote, rushed forward and draped a blanket over Shelley. At the same time, he took out a can of oden and stuffed it into Shelley's hand. Finally, he took a comb out of his pocket and began to tidy Shelley's hair, which had become a mess due to the electricity.
The entire process was incredibly smooth, leaving even Romain Rolland completely bewildered.
Shelley herself was a little confused: "Um, thank you, Louis... but I don't even have secondary sexual characteristics yet, is it really necessary to care so much?"
Louis was currently struggling with Shelley's frizzy hair, not even looking up: "But Shelley, you want to be a girl."
Upon hearing this, Shelley paused slightly, then a smile unconsciously appeared on her lips.
When did the monster turn into a human?
Of course, it's when someone acknowledges that it is a human being.
At that moment, "it" will become "she," and the pure monster will become a human.
At least, she will have a human side.
Shelley chuckled softly, and Louis behind her chuckled as well.
The scene was so heartwarming that almost no one would have the heart to interrupt him.
Then Romain Rolland, oblivious to the atmosphere, jumped in: "I'm sorry, but I have to remind you that we should retreat quickly. Otherwise, such a commotion will be discovered soon."
Barry slapped himself in the face: "Roland, you're hopeless!"
In response to this accusation of low emotional intelligence initiated by Barry, Romain Rolland pointed at Exupéry, who was idly playing with cables: "Exupéry is the one who's hopeless, okay? I'm just a nerve ending necrosis at best!"
Barry immediately glared at Romain Rolland: "Is Antoine de Essupé's emotional intelligence beyond saving? He's already swum twice in the River Styx! You're comparing him to him?! Is he even comparable?!"
Romain Rolland was immediately speechless.
Shelley and Louis, who were enjoying a tender moment, stared blankly at the group, genuinely feeling incredibly stupid for trying to be affectionate in front of them.
In the end, it was Cervantes who came to the rescue—Don Quixote is more in line with the UN style, as he usually handles the daily tasks (like crashing or something). So Cervantes can be considered a rare normal person in the UN.
"Alright, alright, everyone, let's get back to base."
The noisy group then packed up their things and headed back, while Louis put away the comb, picked up Shelley, and started walking out.
Shelley, who had been picked up, looked at the ground, then at Louis.
“Louis, I can walk.”
"You only have one coat right now, so don't move around."
Louis walked past Vladimir without looking to either side.
"Be careful, there might be a pervert."
Vladimir, who had been lying dead, jumped up the moment Louis passed by. His hands flashed, and two submachine guns appeared in his hands: "Louis, you madman, what are you doing all of a sudden!"
Louis didn't even glance at Vladimir: "Shelley is awake now, and I won't stop you from saying what you were just about to say."
Shelley peeked out from Louis's shoulder and looked at Vladimir with a slightly suspicious gaze.
Vladimir took half a second to consider the force Shelley had used, and silently put away his submachine gun.
Hmm, I'd get beaten to death, so I'd better not.
Realizing he was in the wrong—legally speaking, Louis was definitely at fault. But everyone present already understood Vladimir's true nature—Vladimir gave up arguing with Louis and instead reached out to touch a small pendant on his clothes. A mirror appeared in Vladimir's hand, accompanied by a ray of light.
Vladimir began to examine his face in the mirror, muttering to himself, "I'm telling you, if this face of mine is disfigured, I'll never forgive you."
Cervantes, who was passing by, gave Vladimir a speechless look.
Why would someone as cowardly as you ever want to settle scores with someone?
—As is well known, Vladimir was able to evade the law in Russia for more than a decade because he was a coward who would run away at the first sign of trouble.
If Vladimir really wanted to run away, he could pull off a lot of maneuvers with his transport capabilities. Back in Russia, he was the kind of guy who always carried three armored vehicles in his pocket and would switch between them.
According to Vladimir himself, he actually carried an airplane with him at the time, but later found that he couldn't learn how to fly it, so he sold it.
Similarly, he also sold a tank, two motorcycles, a mining truck, a locomotive, and three carriages.
When Kristi heard Vladimir speak, he couldn't immediately understand why the guy was carrying a train, or where he got the mining truck from...
Shelley, who was being held by Louis, kept observing her surroundings before turning to Romain Rolland and asking, "So, where exactly is this place?"
She had asked this question once when she was first resurrected, but Louis interrupted her and she forgot about it.
Roman Roman then realized that Shelley had just asked a question: "Ah, this is a substation in Yokohama. We just picked it randomly. Its only characteristic is that it's far from the 'battlefield.'"
Shelley blinked, puzzled. "A substation? Isn't this time using the generator inside the Nautilus?"
Shelley's nervous system had already failed when she inhaled extremely high concentrations of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. So she had no recollection of what happened afterward.
Romain Rolland looked a little embarrassed. In fact, Barry and Cervantes, who were also reasonable people, looked a little embarrassed at this moment. Louis was a bit out of control at the moment. As for Vladimir... well, let's not talk about him.
“Because your ‘rampage’ this time was rather sudden, we weren’t prepared. So, there were some issues with maintaining composure afterwards.” Romain Rolland organized his thoughts, trying to make his words sound as coherent as possible. “Because you’ve become active, Christie can’t directly contact you, and we don’t have any effective means, therefore… we’ve called in Dante.”
"In short, things got quite chaotic at the scene. Later, Verne determined that if the Nautilus were used to supply power, even blowing up the generator ten times wouldn't be enough. So we came out and found this substation."
Shelley's expression had already gone blank halfway through the conversation, and when Dante appeared, her expression became even more rigid than if she had a nervous breakdown. "Tell me, how much did I have left?"
This question was clearly not easy to answer, and Romain Rolland broke out in a cold sweat.
"Um... in short, there are still seven or eight ribs in total?"
Listening to Romain Rolland's words, Shelley calmly nodded. He then calmly looked up at Louise and calmly uttered a curse.
