Chapter 46 "Little brother, you're not going to kiss me, are you...?"

Li Qinghe wasn't often angry and was used to Yu Xin's temperament. After hearing his words, he pursed his lips. Just then, the waiter came to serve the dishes, thus changing the subject.

During the meal, Li Qinghe gentlemanly took care of Shen Mengqing, frequently serving her food and turning the table for her.

Since Zhu Shaoming had nothing better to do, he followed suit and served Yu Xin some food. As the bright green vegetables fell into his bowl from mid-air, Yu Xin coldly tapped Zhu Shaoming's chopsticks and glared at him.

After the meal, Zhu Shaoming, in a good mood, offered to treat everyone and paid the bill at the front desk.

Li Qinghe had other things to do in the afternoon, so he drove to another place. Zhu Shaoming needed to go back to Yusheng's parking lot to get his car, so he and Shen Mengqing rode back in Yu Xin's car.

He walked ahead and opened the passenger door for Shen Mengqing.

Shen Mengqing waved his hand: "You can sit in the front."

“No need, I prefer to sit in the back, it’s more spacious.” Zhu Shaoming patted the door. “The back seat is for leaders, I rarely get the chance to sit in Young Master Yu’s back seat, I have to seize this opportunity to enjoy it. Besides, it’s not suitable for you to sit here.”

These words left Shen Mengqing speechless, and she had no choice but to sit down.

After starting the car, Zhu Shaoming leaned forward and casually turned on a radio station playing music to warm up the chilly atmosphere.

He spotted a small, withered yellow flower in front of the windshield. Although the pale yellow color was still there, the flower had lost its moisture and drooped, looking quite out of place in the car.

Yu Xin found it quite strange. These flowers weren't decorations, and he wasn't someone who enjoyed admiring flowers in his spare time, so what was the point of putting them here?

Zhu Shaoming, standing between the two, said, "Why are you keeping these flowers? They've withered long ago. Just throw them away."

After saying that, he looked at Shen Mengqing, but he couldn't reach it. Yu Xin was driving, so Shen Mengqing could pick it up and throw it out the window.

Shen Mengqing didn't react and remained silent, so he turned to look at Yu Xin again.

Yu Xinhan said in a cold voice, "If I brake suddenly in a moment, don't blame me if you fly into the glass."

"whispering sound."

Zhu Shaoming went back to his seat. It seemed that Yu Xin had really held a grudge against him for teasing Li Qinghe and Shen Mengqing today. Even a casual remark could get him a few words of criticism.

He was the lowest-ranking person on the bus, not even as good as Shen Mengqing, let alone a flower.

His eyes darted back and forth between the two people in front of him, and suddenly he felt that the scarf in Shen Mengqing's hand looked familiar. He seemed to have seen it in Yu Xin's office that morning.

He sneered inwardly, waiting to see how long Yu Xin could keep up his stubbornness.

...

After returning to the office, Yu Xin summoned Chen Mo and informed Shen Mengqing of something.

He suddenly became very interested in the planning competition held in April and wanted to hold a public sharing session so that the winning colleagues could present their planning proposals.

Shen Mengqing knew he was aware that her plan had been stolen, and a suspicious glint flashed in her eyes. Yu Xin naturally understood her doubts as well. After announcing the matter, he asked Chen Mo to leave, leaving her to speak alone.

Yu Xin leaned against the French windows and said to Shen Mengqing, "Ask whatever you want."

"You're planning to take action against Liang Jun and Zhang Tu?" Shen Mengqing asked him bluntly.

Yu Xin neither denied nor confirmed: "This alone is not very useful."

Shen Mengqing nodded, agreeing with his statement.

She then asked, "Is there anything I can help you with?"

Yu Xin's slightly cool gaze fell on her. He was tall and slender with a cold demeanor. Behind him were office buildings with gold trim under the sunlight and a vast dome.

“No need. You know your own plan best,” Yu Xin said. “I have confidence in you.”

As he said, such a trivial matter would not have any impact on Liang Jun and Zhang Tu, so if he wanted to give Liang Jun and Zhang Tu a warning, there was no need to dwell on such a small matter.

Shen Mengqing knew that he brought this matter up in such a grand manner simply to give her justice.

The sunlight shifted, shining warmly on Yu Xin and melting a corner of Shen Mengqing's heart.

"Thank you," she said sincerely.

Yu Xin shrugged, straightened up, walked to his workstation, picked up a folder, and handed it to Shen Mengqing, saying:

"Thank me after things are done. In the meantime, you should organize this presentation carefully, as you are the chief planner."

Shen Mengqing took the folder, raised his head, and said, "Don't worry."

Organizing such a sharing session was not difficult for her; however, before she could prepare properly for a few days, a sudden severe cold greatly reduced her work efficiency.

Shen Mengqing took half a day off and lay at home wrapped tightly in her blanket, thinking that she must have been cursed by Yu Xin.

She propped her laptop up on a thick quilt, leaving only her head and hands sticking out, and leaned against the bed. Having just taken cold medicine, her eyelids were drooping, and the words on the screen seemed increasingly blurry. She pinched her cheek to try and wake herself up.

After finishing most of her work for the day, Shen Mengqing checked the time and found it was already six o'clock in the evening.

What used to take an hour took her three hours.

Shen Mengqing tossed the computer aside, intending to snuggle into bed and catch up on some sleep.

She was still sick, and even when she was asleep, her head was foggy. Although she wasn't dreaming, it felt like she had fallen into a bottomless swamp. The more she struggled, the deeper she sank, and she couldn't climb out no matter what.

When her phone rang for the sixth time, she woke up groggily, stared blankly at the white ceiling for a long time, and then realized that someone was calling her.

Shen Mengqing didn't even see the contact name on the phone before answering with a "Hello?"

Her voice became low and hoarse, the sound almost indistinct, and she barely realized that she was speaking.

Are you home?

It was Yu Xin calling; he sounded somewhat anxious.

Shen Mengqing's throat was dry. She swallowed and said, "Yes, what's wrong?"

Yu Xin: "Then why didn't you open the door after I knocked for so long?"

Shen Mengqing was taken aback and said, "Maybe I was sleeping too soundly. Are you still at my door?"

"Um."

Yu Xin raised his hand and knocked on the door again.

Shen Mengqing heard this, so she threw off the covers and got out of bed, putting on a fluffy pajamas and smoothing her messy hair.

She wasn't wearing underwear, but luckily it was winter and her coat was thick enough that you couldn't see anything.

When the door opened, Yu Xin was still wearing an elegant suit and coat, seemingly impervious to the cold. Judging from his appearance, he had probably just come from the company.

A gust of cold wind rushed in as the door opened, causing Shen Mengqing to shiver involuntarily. Yu Xin told her to go back to the living room and then stepped inside.

When he walked into the living room, Shen Mengqing noticed that he was carrying a bag, which must have been takeout.

Yu Xin, with her long, slender fingers, untied the tightly sealed bag and said to her, "You haven't eaten yet, have you?"

"without."

Shen Mengqing sat on the floor in front of the coffee table and sniffed.

Her nasal congestion made her voice sound nasal, almost like she was being coquettish, and a bit softer than usual.

Yu Xin took out the food from the bag one by one: millet porridge, shrimp dumplings, walnut buns... a total of six or seven kinds, which was very plentiful.

Shen Mengqing lifted the lid, picked up the hot porridge, and took a sip. It tasted slightly sweet, and a warm current spread from her throat to her whole body, which felt very comfortable.

She watched as Yu Xin sat down on the sofa and asked, "Have you eaten?"

"I'm not hungry." Yu Xin took off her coat and casually put it aside.

There were two pairs of chopsticks in the takeout bag. She opened the other pair and handed it to Yu Xin: "I can't finish it anyway, so you can have some too."

Yu Xin did not refuse and took the chopsticks to eat with her.

The room was quiet, and the two ate their meal in silence. This long-lost scene had a special kind of warmth to it.

Shen Mengqing chewed a couple of bites of the plump and chewy shrimp dumplings and asked Yu Xin, "So, you came here to bring me food?"

Yu Xin put down his chopsticks and said, "I'm here to offer my condolences to the sick employee."

"How come I didn't know the company had this employee care program?"

After filling his stomach, Shen Mengqing felt much more energetic and even had the strength to tease Yu Xin.

She laughed and said, "With so many people in our company, you go to visit and comfort anyone who is sick. Aren't you tired?"

Yu Xin leaned back on the sofa with his legs wide open. He lifted his eyelids and saw Shen Mengqing smiling foolishly. She must have a slight fever, as her face was as red as a fresh, juicy peach, and her bright eyes were fixed on him.

Yu Xin reached out and cupped her thin chin, turning it slightly to make her look away.

"He got the benefit but is still acting innocent."

He said softly.

Shen Mengqing snorted and continued eating. Yu Xin stared at her chubby cheeks, stuffed with food, from behind her and asked, "Where's the thermometer?"

"It's on the second shelf of the cabinet next to the TV."

After Shen Mengqing finished speaking, he touched his forehead and said, "I don't have a fever, do I?"

Yu Xin stood up, slowly bent down, and placed the back of her warm hand on Shen Mengqing's forehead.

Shen Mengqing was frozen in place, her heart pounding as if something had exploded. Before she could recover, Yu Xin's hand moved to her earlobe and gently pinched it.

Shen Mengqing trembled involuntarily.

She suddenly realized that this body was far too familiar with his touch, especially sensitive areas like her earlobes. Even if she built the strongest walls in her mind, she couldn't defend herself against him. He could easily break through her defenses and open her doors wide.

"It's hard to say." Yu Xin felt that both of her skins were getting hotter and hotter the more she touched them.

The electronic thermometer had run out of power because it hadn't been used for a long time, so Yu Xin got a mercury thermometer and handed it to Shen Mengqing.

Shen Mengqing unzipped her pajamas, pulled out an arm, hastily pulled open the collar of her inner nightgown, and stuffed the thermometer inside.

Yu Xin was sitting high up, and inadvertently, he looked down and saw that snow-white mass.

Seeing how unguarded she was, Yu Xin frowned, glared at her from behind, then leaned back on the sofa and adjusted her vision.

He suppressed his slightly agitated emotions, not stooping to taking advantage of someone's vulnerability.

With no one keeping track of the time, Shen Mengqing, clutching a thermometer, couldn't eat anymore, and the two of them just sat there, one tall and one short.

When he estimated that it was about time, Shen Mengqing took out the thermometer, looked down and turned it for a long time, but couldn't find the mark.

She turned and raised her head, resting the back of her head on the soft edge of the sofa, holding the thermometer up to the chandelier, trying to see the numbers displayed on the scale.

Yu Xin assumed she had gone mad from the fever and couldn't even see the thermometer clearly.

He leaned forward, moving his head above Shen Mengqing's face, their eyes meeting at the same level.

Shen Mengqing had been squinting with one eye, but now Yu Xin's head completely blocked the light from her eyes. She opened her closed eye, intending to scold him, but after falling into his deep eyes, she couldn't speak.

The posture was somewhat ambiguous. Shen Mengqing stared at him blankly, her cold making her brain malfunction.

Yu Xin's face even moved down a little, so close that she could see his eyelashes trembling slightly on his eyelids.

Her mouth spoke before her brain could process it: "Little brother, you're not going to kiss me, are you?"
