In fact, in 2003, most people in Hotan did not know the value of Hotan jade. Before 2006, stories of people making a fortune by digging up beautiful jade were circulated every day along the Yulong Kashi River. The myth of getting rich overnight attracted thousands of people to dig, pour, and process jade on the riverbed all year round. Large excavators turned over the riverbed piece by piece, and all the sand and soil were sifted countless times, so that even a seed jade the size of a fingernail would not slip through the net.

In those two years, there were more people digging for jade than there were stones in the riverbed!

It was not until October 2007 that the government issued a ban on the mining of Hetian jade. All large-scale machinery was withdrawn from the riverbed, and the local government began to implement various bans. The Hetian government, together with ten functional departments, launched a "special action to ban random mining" and carried out a series of rectifications on the disorderly mining phenomenon, which limited this crazy mining behavior.

But at this time, the riverbed, which is dozens of kilometers long, has been dug several times, and even the ecological environment around the river has been severely damaged.

If I don't carry out planned excavation in advance, then in sixteen or seventeen years, this place will be destroyed by that group of crazy people. It is better to take action in advance.
