Chapter 191 Strolling through the Antique Street

Jinran changed into her own clothes, bought a bunch of snacks, and went back to the hotel.

Professor Gu and Professor Wang have returned. Seeing Jinran bring out some delicious food, they were both happy and said they wanted to try it.

After trying a few, they all nodded and said they were delicious. Professor Gu then asked Jinran, "Where did Nini go today?"

Jinran explained it once, took out the spoils she had bought, and mentioned that she had ordered several sets of appliances, as well as a toilet, shower, and other things, which would make things more convenient when installed at home.

"Professor Wang, are you going to place an order? I have his phone number, you can contact him. He promises to deliver to your door."

Professor Wang nodded quickly and spoke. He also asked for a television, a washing machine, and a refrigerator.

Jinran made a note of it. After returning to her room, she called her boss and said, "Boss, my men ordered a lot of appliances from you today. I'd like to order another set. It's an order from Beijing."

The boss was initially surprised, but calmly agreed. He quickly said okay and didn't ask any further questions.

Lu Ming arranged another dinner that evening, and Jinran ate and ate the entire time. She was very happy.

the next day

The auction is being held tonight. During the day, the two professors took Jinran to visit the antique market.

Although there are many genuine items now, most of the antiques on the market are still from the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period.

The good stuff has long been taken; antiques are all the rage in the port city, it's become a trend.

Today is just for browsing. As Professor Gu was leaving, he instructed Jinran, "If you see something you like and it's not too expensive, then go for it. I think you're a lucky girl; you might actually find a bargain."

Jinran smiled and said okay.

When we arrived, it was packed with people, much more lively than Beijing.

The stalls stretched as far as the eye could see, each surrounded by a large crowd. People spoke different languages, and many blue-eyed, blond-haired foreigners weaved through the crowd.

Jinran was even thinking of making some easy money off her. What a pity.

Pushed along by the crowd, Jinran didn't have a chance to look at what was on each stall. The two old men were protected by bodyguards, so there was no need to worry.

Jinran, relying on her slippery skills, still managed to scan each stall one by one.

Then I spotted a vanity case that I really liked at first sight.

Jinran was unaware of the local customs and didn't rush to take a bite. She simply asked, "Boss, how much is this?"

The stall owner, seeing Jinran's outfit and hearing her accent, became somewhat reluctant to engage with her, quoting a price of five hundred before turning to serve other customers.

Jinran said, “............” She has received more contempt recently than before.

Seeing that the other guests were all trying it out, Jinran knew there were no other rules, so she joined in as well.

It feels really good, but the weight is still wrong. Could it be another one with a hidden compartment?

Jinran asked calmly, "Boss, how about selling this for a lower price?"

"Four hundred and fifty!"

Jinran immediately countered: "Fifty!"

The stall owner was displeased. "Little girl, are you trying to cause trouble? Is that how you haggle?"

Jinran said nonchalantly, "You're asking for an exorbitant price, but you're willing to haggle. Besides, it's not exactly an antique; it just suits my taste. Otherwise, I'd think twenty was too much."

The stall owner muttered that he wanted it to be longer, but Jinran insisted on fifty.

In the end, Jinran emerged victorious. Then, holding a thumb ring, Jinran smiled and said to the stall owner, "Here's a little something extra, wishing you good fortune!"

The stall owner, seeing that it was a worthless little item, waved his hand, telling Jinran to hurry up and leave so as not to delay his business.

Jinran knew when to stop and got up to visit the next stall.

She's gotten separated from the professors now, but we agreed that if we did, we'd all wait for each other at the dessert shop near the entrance.

Jinran browsed around and bought some cute little trinkets, none of which were expensive.

As more and more people gathered, Jinran became somewhat irritable in the crowded environment.

I was thinking of giving up, but a casual glance revealed something interesting. The stall owner was showing a painting to a foreigner. Perhaps it was just a lucky spot where Jinran was standing, but she could actually see something different about it.

Jinran squatted down in front of the stall with interest, watching the stall owner tout: "This is a painting by Qi Baishi, and there's also one by Tang Bohu, both are genuine works."

However, the foreigner lacked appreciation. He only felt that the colors of the shrimp and the painting of a lone wild goose against the sunset were not vibrant enough and he didn't like it.

Then he got up and left.

The stall owner sighed regretfully; he had missed the chance to rip off the vendor. What a pity.

Jinran looked at the paintings in the stall owner's hands and asked, "I quite like these two paintings. They would be perfect as gifts for my grandfather, but I know they are not authentic. Please give me a fair price."

The stall owner was speechless, choked with embarrassment. Good heavens, you've said all sorts of nasty things.
