Fang Zhi met a handsome young man with an outstanding appearance and a gentle, noble demeanor at her most desperate moment.
He was like a beam of light from heaven, reaching out to her and ge...
Only then did he close the door, leaning against it in a daze, his mind a jumble of thoughts like a knotted ball of yarn.
If it weren't for the lingering, vivid sensation on my lips, I would have realized that everything that had just happened was a dream.
Was her brother drunk and mistook her for someone else? But she had never heard of her brother having a girlfriend.
Fang Zhi slowly squatted down, wrapping his arms around his knees.
Will her brother remember when he sobers up tomorrow? How is she going to face him? The more she thinks about it, the more frustrated she becomes. Her only consolation is that tomorrow is Sunday, and she has to go back to school in the afternoon.
Maybe I should avoid my brother tomorrow, and then I might forget about him when I see him again.
The next day, the sun broke through the sea of clouds, revealing a clear sky for thousands of miles.
Fang Zhi woke up before dawn and lay there with his eyes open until daybreak.
She barely slept that night, and her eye sockets and eyeballs were throbbing with pain.
Listening carefully to the sounds of doors closing and footsteps in the corridor, and calculating Qi Shen's usual departure time, she deliberately delayed getting up for almost an hour, just in case.
Breakfast was already served in the restaurant on the first floor, with the Western dishes presented in an exquisite and meticulous manner.
As Wang Ma took off her apron and walked outside, she bumped into a pretty young girl coming towards her. "Zhizhi, you're up? I was just about to call you downstairs for dinner."
Fang Zhi paused, "Isn't it past lunchtime?"
The Qi family usually has breakfast at 7:00 AM on weekdays and 8:30 AM on weekends; it's already 9:30 AM now.
"Young Master Shen instructed that the meal be prepared later tonight."
Fang Zhi opened his mouth, but the words got stuck in his throat and he couldn't say them.
"Don't worry." Wang Ma thought Fang Zhi was worried that Qi Shen had left without eating breakfast. "Young Master was delayed by a work call and has just started eating."
The girl was caught in a dilemma, unsure whether to advance or retreat.
"What are you still standing there for?" Wang Ma urged kindly, "Go eat quickly."
Fang Zhi tightened his grip and reluctantly walked into the restaurant.
As she approached, Qi Shen looked up, his smile as warm as ever, and said, "Good morning, Zhizhi."
"Brother...brother..." Fang Zhi pulled out a chair, and memories of last night came flooding back to her.
She was so overwhelmed that she could barely breathe. She sat beside him with her head down, not daring to look at him. "Good morning."
"Did you study very late last night?" Qi Shen asked with concern, a fleeting glint of emotion in his eyes.
Fang Zhi replied softly, "No, it's not too late."
"Yes, studying is a good thing, but you need to balance work and rest and take care of your health." He reached out to tidy up the hair that was falling in front of her face. "You look like you haven't had enough rest."
Fang Zhi froze when the man's hand approached, not daring to move. "Brother, I'm rested."
Looking at the girl who was almost curled up like a quail, Qi Shen's smile deepened, and he withdrew his hand. "Okay, let's eat."
Fang Zhi always loved Wang Ma's cooking, but today it tasted bland. Judging from her brother's expression, he had forgotten about last night, but she had a vague feeling that something was wrong.
There seemed to be a fog waiting for her ahead, and no one knew what would emerge from behind it once it dissipated.
Sunlight streamed into the dignified and elegantly decorated restaurant, where tiny particles floated in the bright light.
The silver cutlery and the porcelain plate made a crisp sound when they clattered together.
After finishing his breakfast, Qi Shen gestured for Wang Ma to remove it from the table. He then picked up a tissue from the table to wipe his hands and casually asked, "When are you going to school this afternoon?"
"Cough..." He asked abruptly, only to realize he had choked on the food in his mouth. "Cough... Go to school before six o'clock."
"Zhizhi, be careful."
A long, slender, fair hand with clearly defined veins pushed the glass in front of her. His voice was gentle and indulgent, without any hint of blame, more like the kind guidance of an elder.
"Take a sip of water and calm down. You're not a child anymore. Be more careful in the future."
Only then did she realize that her ears were slowly turning red. She picked up her water glass and took small sips, her movements quiet and reserved.
Beneath his gold-rimmed glasses, his dark, unyielding eyes were fixed on the quiet girl. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he said gently, "I'll take you back to school this afternoon."
"No..." Fang Zhi suddenly looked up and met the man's gaze.
The water in the glass rippled with her movement. Realizing she had reacted too strongly, she took a deep breath before feigning calmness and saying:
"No need, brother. You're already very busy with work. Uncle Zhang can take me."
"I finished all the work over the phone." Qi Shen smiled politely, his voice as gentle as a spring breeze. "Brother, you don't have anything to do this afternoon."
Qi Shen gazed at her with gentle, calm eyes, a faint smile playing on his mature, handsome face.
"Does Zhizhi not want her brother to take her?"
The gaze, so intense it felt almost tangible, made Fang Zhi lower her eyelashes. She forced herself to whimper, "How could that be?"
"Hmm." Qi Shen nodded, a deeper meaning hidden in his eyes. "Then I'll deliver it."
An invisible net, woven and constructed over a long period of time, gradually gathered from four meters and eight directions, entangling and wrapping around the defenseless Fang Zhi.
The owner of the net is waiting for the right moment to capture her.
Once the matter was settled, I realized I had no appetite anymore.
She ate a few mouthfuls hastily, told Qi Shen that she needed to go back to her room to study, and then quickly slipped away.
......
The setting sun shone like gold, the evening clouds merged into a perfect circle, and the scenery outside the car window flashed by, quickly receding into the distance.
Soft piano music played from inside the black Bentley.
I realized I hadn't slept well the night before. Soon after getting in the car, I listened to music and my eyelids started to feel heavy, so I fell asleep.
Qi Shen gripped the steering wheel, glancing at the passenger seat out of the corner of his eye.
The girl's fluffy head tilted to one side; she must have been exhausted last night to be sleeping so soundly now.
He chuckled softly and slowed down.
