Fang Zhi met a handsome young man with an outstanding appearance and a gentle, noble demeanor at her most desperate moment.
He was like a beam of light from heaven, reaching out to her and ge...
About a week had passed, during which Jiang Yu tried to contact Fang Zhi during his normal working hours.
However, Fang Zhi was wary of Qi Shen's claim that the chat history could be recovered that night, so she didn't answer his calls and instead kept in touch with Liu Siyi.
From Liu Siyi's cryptic description, she learned that Jiang Yuzhe had gone out but nothing had happened.
Just when the two girls, who had just graduated from high school, thought the matter was over, Qi Shen attacked Jiang Yuzhe's parents with lightning speed.
President's Office, SQ Venture Capital Group
Fu Shaosi held a copy of today's morning newspaper, his eyes half-closed. "Today, a bank manager in our city was investigated, and his wife, a senior executive at a company, was also embroiled in a company-wide internal transfer controversy at the same time..."
He read aloud, but the man behind the desk didn't react at all, remaining focused on his work.
Feeling bored, Fu Shaosi tossed the newspaper aside and looked at Qi Shen with a half-smile, saying leisurely, "You've made quite a commotion this time, haven't you?"
According to him, the commotion was more than just "somewhat big".
Haicheng is the leading and most important financial center in China, and Jiang Yuzhe's father holds the position of bank president, so its importance is self-evident.
While President Jiang may not have made a single mistake during his tenure, his merits at least outweighed his faults, and he did not deserve such punishment.
His sudden investigation completely panicked the truly useless good-for-nothings in Haicheng, and everyone felt insecure.
"Big?" Qi Shen raised his eyes and chuckled lightly, his handsome face calm and collected. "Isn't it a good opportunity to weed out these parasites in Haicheng?"
"You've got to be kidding me." Fu Shaosi glanced at him, pursing his lips. After all these years, who doesn't know who the other is?
Fu Shaosi said without any politeness:
"Let's not talk about some officials, but President Jiang made some mistakes in his early years in order to secure his position. However, as long as the higher-ups are willing to step in and put in a good word, these things can be resolved in no time."
“He hasn’t been wasting his years of hard work. He tried to pull strings and ask around, but he couldn’t get things done. It’s not like you’ve been the one holding him back. Aren’t you afraid your old man and your father will come after you for what’s wrong?”
He had barely finished speaking when Qi Shen's phone rang.
Speak of the devil, and he appears; I glanced at the incoming call information—
grandfather.
Qi Shen paused, his hand reaching for his phone.
He glanced subtly at Fu Shaosi on the sofa, his mind indifferent as he thought:
Fu Shaosi really is a jinx—
Good things don't work, but bad things do.
The latter, meeting his slightly disdainful gaze, guessed who the call was from.
He laughed gleefully, then stretched lazily, raised his chin, and urged:
"Why are you looking at me? Hurry up and answer the phone."
Old Master Qi has come a long way through thick and thin; in his era, truth came from the barrel of a gun.
Having lived to such an advanced age, the old man was practically an immortal. Standing before him, a mere glance was enough to see through even the deepest thoughts.
Qi Shen was no exception in front of the old man.
Compared to his father, he respected, and even feared, his grandfather more in the large Qi family.
As the old man aged, he mostly withdrew from worldly affairs, like a sleeping lion. When Qi Shen insisted on filling out his college application, the old man never said anything.
But a beast is still a beast, and even when it's dozing off, it can't hide the fact that it's a beast.
Qi Shen looked away and answered the phone.
"Xiao Shen, have you been very busy lately?" came the old man's deep, hoarse voice from the phone, accompanied by a slight static.
The voice seemed to pierce through a century, filled with wisdom accumulated over the months and a sharp edge that had been concealed.
"No rush," Qi Shen said humbly. "Grandpa, please feel free to ask if you need anything."
After he finished speaking, the voice on the other end said in a calm and concise tone, "Come back this Friday."
"Yes." Qi Shen agreed without the slightest hesitation.
Aside from discussing important matters, the men of the Qi family rarely maintained close relationships. After giving his instructions, Old Master Qi hung up the phone.
"Hey~" Fu Shaosi teased him with a smile as he saw the man put down his phone, "Seeing how obedient you are like a grandson, it must be the old man's call, right?"
Qi Shen: "......"
Ignoring the man's teasing, he connected to the intercom and gently instructed the person on the other end, "Get two security guards to come up and throw all the irresponsible people out of my office."
Where did these random people come from?
Fu Shaosi looked around and saw that it was just the two of them in the office, so was he describing him?
"Hey!" Realizing what was happening, Fu Shaosi laughed in exasperation. "Qi Gou, you've gone too far!"
He acted impulsively for the sake of a woman, and was summoned by Old Master Qi. He couldn't afford to be criticized!
Qi Shen ignored his shouting. With the man staring at him, he said calmly, "From now on, put up a sign at the company entrance saying 'No Fu Shaosi or dogs allowed.'"
"..." Fu Shaosi stood up abruptly, his teeth grinding together, and finally he uttered three words, "You're awesome!"
He glared at Qi Shen and angrily retorted, "I have legs of my own, I can walk, I don't need your people to escort me!"
Qi Shen slightly bent his knuckles, slowly pushed up his glasses, his handsome face showing a faint smile, giving off a rather refined yet roguish air.
"That's perfect, take care."
No sooner had Fu Shaosi left than his cell phone on his desk rang again. Qi Shen answered, calling out, "Uncle Yu."
"Hey, Xiao Shen, your grandfather knows you asked me to investigate things in Haicheng. Do you still want to continue?"
"Continue." Qi Shen's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, his eyes as deep as ever. "He didn't say to pause, so let's continue."
