Song Yan never thought she would experience a day of transmigrating into a book. Well, if she transmigrated, she transmigrated! The 1970s weren't that scary.
However, she didn't expec...
"The dumpling filling isn't ready yet? What are you doing making dumplings? Come out and play cat's cradle with me!" Yueyue kept holding onto her and wouldn't let go.
Having spent so much time with Yueyue, Di Minxia knew why Yueyue clung to her so tightly.
Without saying a word, Di Minxia picked up the celery bowl.
The celery was taken away, so Liu Hua couldn't do it even if he wanted to.
Wang Wenli actually wanted to carry the basin, but she was too slow.
Wang Wenli smiled at Di Minxia. Yueyue was upset that Liu Hua hadn't washed his hands.
Yueyue then pulled Liu Hua to play cat's cradle.
When it was time to start making dumplings, Yueyue still clung to Liu Hua, not letting her move.
So much so that Liu Hua even boasted during dinner that she was very popular with the children. She was feeling embarrassed for not doing any work, but at the same time, she was showing off.
Yueyue circled around her, unwilling to leave.
When we started making dumplings, everyone helped out. Yueyue did pull Liu Hua aside and didn't let her make dumplings.
After Aunt Cheng left, Song Yan wanted to ask Yueyue if she liked playing with Liu Hua.
Before Song Yan could even ask, Yueyue asked her mother, "Can we not let that Liu Hua come next time?"
Song Yan: "What's wrong? She seemed to be having a good time with you."
"It wasn't her keeping me company, it was me trying to amuse her!"
"Hmph! I won't let her come next time!" Yueyue said, her face full of displeasure.
Di Minxia laughed heartily and picked Yueyue up. "Does Yueyue think she's dirty?"
"The food we eat should be kept very hygienic!"
She didn't even wash her hands!
She even picked her nose!
I don't want her to make dumplings. I want to coax her into playing cat's cradle, and keep playing cat's cradle!
"She's not my brother!" Yueyue pouted.
Song Yan sat with Aunt Cheng for a while, then went to read a book. I really didn't know.
Just as it was almost time for dinner, Youfu arrived. Song Yan thought he had come back for dinner.
As a result, he called Song Yan into the room and handed him a letter.
The address was Daxiling Village in their commune. The envelope had already been opened. Song Yan took it out to look at it.
Song Yan: "This little girl is determined to stick with you!"
Cheng Youfu: "Sister, it's good that you asked me to find someone to keep an eye on her. If she had mailed this letter, things would have been really hard to explain."
She wants her brother to make this public, to let everyone know she's here to marry me. How dare she talk such nonsense?
I had to practically beg the post office staff to open the mailbox before they finally gave me the letter.
"Have you expressed your meaning? Did your mother explain it to her clearly?" Song Yan asked.
Hearing Song Yan ask him this, he became even angrier. "I just went back and told my mother that I absolutely disagree with this. Shouldn't you send someone back immediately?"
She was still crying in front of me, saying that she had come to Kyoto and was going back so soon, and no one would believe her if she said she hadn't found work.
Because anyone looking for work has to stay a couple more days!
She said she wanted to stay in Kyoto for a couple more days and asked if I could show her around the city so she could take a picture before going back.
I asked her, "Who are you to me? Should I take you for a walk?"
Does she think I'm stupid? If I took her for a walk, would I be able to explain myself clearly?
This little girl has quite a few tricks up her sleeve. If Youfu takes her for a walk, she'll ask to take a picture together. Youfu is completely stuck with her.
Song Yan and Youfu didn't close the door when they were talking. Youfu saw Shen Ruomei standing at the door, but he didn't stop.
Shen Ruomei stood openly at the door, listening. "I've discovered these women are really something!"
Song Yan: "What do you mean by 'these women'?"
Shen Ruomei: "It was Xia Junchao's female educated youth friend who went to the countryside. Today, she actually went directly to the school."
Xia Junchao asked a male classmate to accompany him, but the female educated youth was quite dissatisfied and said she wanted to talk to Xia Juntao alone.
Xia Juntao was smart enough to refuse no matter what.
Cheng Youfu, remember this: never, under any circumstances, talk to a woman alone.
Otherwise you're finished!
Cheng Youfu wholeheartedly agreed. "You're right!"
I've been keeping an eye on Liu Hua these past few days; she's definitely waiting for news from home. In a couple of days, I'll sneak her onto a train when she's not looking. What do you think?
"That's one way! Be careful, don't let her get close to you!" Song Yan and Shen Ruomei gave the same reminder.
After Cheng Youfu left, Song Yan asked Shen Ruomei what exactly happened to Xia Juntao.
Shen Ruomei: "It's not a big deal! Xia Juntao is very shrewd; he's very wary of that female educated youth."
I said that on purpose to let Cheng Youfu hear it, to warn him to be careful.
I'm not just praising Xia Juntao, he definitely can't be blamed.
I heard him say that the female educated youth approached him wanting to do business with him. He refused outright.
You wouldn't believe it, but on the way back, he made me sit with him for several stops before I got off to transfer.
He was terrified of running into that female educated youth. He begged me to stand up for him if we ever did.
He said he would thank me properly if I helped him. Shen Ruomei said this excitedly.
Song Yan: What an idiot!
She should really have Yueyue teach her.
In the morning, Yueyue had Liu Hua completely charmed.
Shen Ruomei, as the aunt, was completely flattered and coaxed.
Song Yan has actually stocked up on quite a few clothes, but in a city as big as Kyoto, selling this small amount of clothing wouldn't make much of a splash.
