All our lives, we chase after each other, both longing to become each other's light. In the endless abyss, I fantasize about our next life. You are the one I never dared to hope for, yet now yo...
Rebirth
Mu Zi'an casually twirled the sword in his hand, his eyes devoid of any emotion. He looked at the cultivators and said, "You lot dare to challenge me? Don't you think you're overestimating yourselves? Or are you tired of living and have come here specifically to die?" As he finished speaking, his sword flew towards them. The crowd was startled and hastily dodged, looking disheveled. Some of them secretly hated him as they dodged. Mu Zi'an stood on the high building, thinking that if he had really made a move, would they still be alive and standing there facing him? How foolish and laughable!
One of the fearless individuals stepped forward and said, "You monster! You've killed so many people, don't you feel even a trace of remorse?" Hearing the angry voice, Mu Zi'an retrieved his flying sword. "Because they all deserved to die. Since they provoked me, they should pay the price!" Mu Zi'an replied casually, stroking his sword. The one who had spoken earlier was immediately enraged and retorted, "You monster! You've killed so many people, and you still show no remorse!"
Hearing this, Mu Zi'an laughed and replied, "Regret? Why should I regret it? My only regret is why I didn't eliminate them completely to prevent future trouble! You've said that to me; if I didn't take action against you, wouldn't I be betraying your advice?" Mu Zi'an used the gentlest words to do the most cruel thing. The person standing to the side watched the person beside them die silently before their eyes, and felt a chill run down their spine. The voice of that devil, Mu Zi'an, echoed in their ears again.
"Who will be next?" Mu Zi'an shrugged inwardly, surveying the terrified crowd. "With this much guts, they dare to challenge me?" The group below felt uneasy under Mu Zi'an's gaze, fearing they would be the next to be killed. Everyone was filled with dread. Mu Zi'an sat atop the high building, watching their terrified eyes, finding it utterly amusing. If only he had a pot of wine, it would be even more enjoyable. He was watching a show, but he felt it wasn't exciting enough, so he added fuel to the fire. He told them, "Of all of you, I will only spare one. It all depends on your performance. If even one of you survives, I will let him go. I mean what I say!"
As soon as he finished speaking, some people found it unbelievable, but they didn't care anymore. As long as they could get out alive, Mu Zi'an looked at the people below who had gone mad in their struggle to survive and laughed with great pleasure. He wanted to see them make a fool of themselves and even hurt others for their own benefit. He wanted to see them wearing a mask of hypocrisy and doing the things that made people feel disgusted.
Duan Ziyang looked at the madmen, those who cared about nothing but survival. He suddenly glanced at Mu Zi'an in the high position. Mu Zi'an smiled at him, seemingly mocking his ignorance and naivety. Duan Ziyang glared at him, but Mu Zi'an didn't bother with him, continuing to watch the people kill each other. Now they were all stained with the blood of their comrades. Could they still be considered truly righteous sects? They all swore to be sworn enemies of demons, never to commit evil deeds, yet now they were no different from demons.
Duan Ziyang couldn't bear to watch his fellow disciples kill each other, so he shouted, "Have you forgotten why you came here? Look at you now, some are injured, some are dead. Have you forgotten who you are? Since you're being led by the nose by a demon, you're unworthy of being a righteous sect!"
Some people, upon hearing his words, came to their senses. Realizing their actions were stained with the blood of their comrades and fellow disciples, they hated themselves for obeying that fiend. Thinking of this, they glared resentfully at the person seated on the high throne. Mu Zi'an was somewhat displeased, as someone had interrupted his good show. "I truly underestimated you. There's no need to hate me so much. After all, I was just speaking casually. You actually attacked your fellow disciples? It seems your various immortal sects are nothing more than hypocrites who spread their names throughout the world!" Mu Zi'an said, flying down from the high building. He stood before Duan Ziyang and said, "You seem to have interrupted my show. This is the most exciting show I've been planning. Guess how I'll deal with you? Sigh, why don't you come up with an idea yourself? I can grant your wish!"
Duan Ziyang looked at the demon in front of him, who was pretending to be innocent and wearing a smile, which seemed somewhat incongruous. He turned his head and snorted coldly: "Kill me or torture me, it's up to you. I have no complaints!" He didn't even turn his head to look at Mu Zian after he finished speaking.
"Alright, since you've said so, of course I'll grant your request!" Mu Zi'an spoke as if he wasn't the heartless one. After thinking for a moment, Mu Zi'an took action.
"Stop!" Mu Zian ignored him and didn't even bother to see who the person was. Seeing that Mu Zian had no intention of stopping, Su Jinxi rushed over and, in her haste, slapped Mu Zian. Mu Zian didn't notice and was knocked back a few steps by the blow. He looked up and stared in astonishment at the man who had slapped him.
"What, even you want to come and condemn me?" Su Jinxi looked at him. "I don't want you to make the same mistake again! There's still a chance if you let go now!" Mu Zian didn't reply. He was completely disappointed in Su Jinxi. He wasn't the person I was looking for. Besides, he didn't know what they had done to me. He wanted me to turn back, to do good, but I had no way back. I just wanted them to get the retribution they deserved!
He is now a respected and righteous sect, while I am a demon whom everyone wants to kill. He seems to be no different from the righteous sects now. We are ultimately irreconcilable enemies!
"Demon, if you don't surrender now, we might spare your life." Seeing Su Jinxi arrive, the Qingfeng Sect leader felt more assertive, as if someone was backing him up. The others did the same.
"Ha, a rabble, you dare speak to me? Weren't you fighting fiercely just now? How come you're backing up now that someone's here? Things are different now!" Mu Zian looked mockingly at the people who were attacking him, including Su Jinxi. Su Jinxi just stared at Mu Zian. If he hadn't killed anyone, they might still be close friends, but there are no "ifs."
The leader of the Qingfeng Sect said to someone nearby, "You don't know, Su Jinxi and that demon used to be very close. Now they're fighting each other. It's truly a pity." After saying that, he put on a pained expression. Someone next to him added, "Su Jinxi is really righteous and considerate. She's truly great!"
Su Jinxi heard this but didn't react at all. She flew directly up to the tall building and looked at Mu Zi'an up close. "This face is truly stunning," she thought. "What a pity, I won't be able to see it again." She then drew her sword and tried to stab Mu Zi'an in the heart. Mu Zi'an looked at her in disbelief and blocked with his sword. They exchanged blows, and people below came to help. Mu Zi'an was caught off guard and was stabbed squarely by Su Jinxi.
Mu Zian pressed his injured area and smiled at the people below. Su Jinxi pulled Mu Zian into her arms. The people below frowned. Could Su Jinxi be trying to side with the big devil? Some people even said they had a good relationship. It was hard to say. Mu Zian said, "You don't still want to save me, do you? You don't want me to turn over a new leaf, do you? Unfortunately, I can't do it!"
Su Jinxi: "I just want you to live!" Mu Zian really wanted to say to him, "Naive, stupid!" He didn't want to fall into those people's hands. He picked up the sword beside him and stabbed himself without hesitation. It was too late when Su Jinxi tried to stop him.
When those people saw that the great demon Mu Zi'an had died in Su Jinxi's arms, they thought that Su Jinxi had put righteousness before family and praised her. Su Jinxi left alone, holding Mu Zi'an's body in a daze.
Mu Zi'an groggily awoke. Looking at his surroundings, everything seemed strangely familiar. What was going on? Wasn't he supposed to be dead? Why was he still alive? Wait, wasn't this the Mu Manor? But the Mu Manor had already… A maidservant, seeing him awake, excitedly ran out. Mu Zi'an couldn't stop her. He surveyed his surroundings, and had good reason to suspect that he had been reborn. He had returned to his youth. He couldn't believe it; how could a demon stained with the blood of others be reborn? It was truly a strange thing…
