Ancient cultivator Tang Jin was caught in a battle between cultivators and exotic beasts over a spiritual treasure and was accidentally transmigrated to another world.
He found himself to be ...
Old Li drove his oxcart along the main road into the city. Tang Yue had never seen a city like this before. Some of the buildings were very tall, appearing to be several stories high. They looked quite ordinary from the outside.
There weren't many people on the street, and those who were there seemed to be walking in a hurry. Tang Yue wanted to ask her mother what everyone did here.
Unexpectedly, Lin Cuicui seemed even more uneasy than she was. Turning to look at the three Tang brothers, they seemed to be visiting the city for the first time, finding everything incredibly fascinating. Tang Yue sighed helplessly; it seemed she would have to explore on her own to see what she wanted.
"Uncle Li, do you know where the hospital is?"
Old Li cracked his whip, "Hey, I'm the one who drives over here whenever anything happens in our village, don't worry. There's only one big hospital in the county, over there! That tall white building over there is it."
Lin Cuicui looked in the direction Old Man Li pointed with his whip, and a white house came into view.
When they arrived at the hospital, amidst the bustling crowd, Lin Cuicui and her children looked completely lost, unable to find their way around.
Old Li parked the car. "Go in from there and ask someone in a white coat what to do."
This was Old Li's first time at the hospital, and he didn't know where to go. But he had been to the city many times before, so he figured asking at the main gate would be the right thing to do.
Lin Cuicui walked stiffly towards the gate, while the three Tang brothers hesitated to move their feet by the car.
Tang Yue slid off the donkey cart. "Brothers, I'm going to go with Mom to take a look."
Tang Bei reached out to grab Tang Yue, but Tang Yue smiled, took two quick steps, and grabbed Lin Cuicui's hand.
"Yueyue? You, wait in the car, Mom will be back soon."
Tang Yue looked up at Lin Cuicui and said, "Mom, I'll go with you."
Lin Cuicui held Tang Yue's hand, seemingly feeling more confident.
The two entered the hospital through the main gate. People were coming and going, and Lin Cuicui was momentarily unsure where to go. Just then, a male doctor wearing glasses and a white coat walked towards the entrance, writing something in a notebook.
"Hello big brother, do you know where seriously ill patients should go for treatment?"
Li Mingxuan paused in writing, looked down, and saw a thin, pale girl in a faded cotton-padded jacket looking up at him.
Li Mingxuan crouched down, clipping the pen to the notebook. "Little girl, are you talking to me?"
Tang Yue nodded. "Do you know where it is?"
Tang Yue had a hunch that the man in front of her looked very kind and she inexplicably felt that he would help her.
"Where is the patient you mentioned? I need to check if the illness is serious before I can make a decision."
Tang Yue smiled and said, "Thank you, big brother. Please come with me. My dad is outside."
Li Mingxuan stood up and noticed the awkward woman holding Tang Yue's hand. He nodded to Lin Cuicui, and Tang Yue shook her hand.
"Mother?"
Lin Cuicui snapped out of her daze and immediately pulled Tang Yue outside. When they reached the donkey cart, Old Man Li, seeing the imposing doctor, hesitated to speak.
Li Mingxuan hadn't paid much attention at first, assuming the young girl's description of the patient was simply due to lack of strength to walk. However, upon closer inspection and seeing the man's visibly dark and unconscious face, Li Mingxuan quickly went to check on him.
As he examined Li Mingxuan, his expression became serious. "How did it get so serious? When did he fall unconscious? Why was he only brought here now?"
Lin Cuicui was so frightened by Li Mingxuan's dark face that she couldn't say a word. Tang Bei and the other two had never seen such a scene before. Tang Yue couldn't see what was happening in the car even when she was standing on tiptoe.
"Big brother, my family is broke. We finally managed to scrape together the money. Big brother, can you treat my dad's illness?"
Li Mingxuan didn't have time to communicate with Tang Yue. He quickly ran into the hospital, and soon two doctors, both wearing white coats, carried over a stretcher.
"Let's lend a hand and lift the patient onto the stretcher."
Lin Cuicui and Old Li quickly helped, and then followed Li Mingxuan into the hospital.
As they walked, Li Mingxuan solemnly instructed, "The patient needs immediate surgery; he needs to be taken into the operating room now."
Lin Cuicui was completely at a loss, and could only nod and agree to whatever Li Mingxuan said.
Tang Yue hadn't forgotten that going to the hospital would cost money, "Big brother, is surgery expensive?"
Li Mingxuan didn't want to pay attention, but seeing Tang Yue's serious look, he lowered his head and answered.
"It depends on what kind of surgery it is, but life is the most important thing, isn't it?"
Life is the most important thing? Not in Tang Yue's era. Countless cultivators spent their lives cultivating. It seemed like dying was a normal thing at any time. But who would willingly die if they could live?
She doesn't care about other people's lives, but these are her family members, and she will definitely protect them.
"Yes, big brother, you're right. So, big brother, please, you must save my father. I'll pay any price."
Lin Cuicui and Tang Bei remained silent in the back, but their eyes grew increasingly resolute.
Yes, as long as a person is alive, they will have everything.
The medical room was unusually quiet under the cover of night, with only the ticking of instruments and Tang Shengkai's heavy breathing alternating between the two. The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant mixed with the stench of blood, irritating everyone's sense of smell.
Tang Shengkai lay on the operating table, pale-faced, his forehead covered in cold sweat. His wound had become infected, causing him to develop a fever again.
Li Mingxuan's gaze was firm and focused. He carefully examined Tang Shengkai's wound, his brow furrowed. The bullet had penetrated deep into the thigh bone, part of it lodged inside. The location was extremely sensitive, close to the major artery; the slightest mistake could cause massive bleeding.
The most important thing is that it's unclear how long he's been injured; the bullet seems to have fused with the bone. Although Tang Shengkai's thigh has been gouged out, it's still impossible to operate on that spot.
