After speaking, he pointed to the fire on the ground and said, "Make sure to put it out when you're done. Don't take any chances. You should know that if the forest catches fire, you won't even have this place to hide."

Xiao Mohe was preoccupied with many thoughts. He realized he had misunderstood these people. Actually, he was quite happy to have met them and to know they weren't bad people, but they only stayed for one night before leaving.

Everyone was ready and set off immediately. Before leaving, Xu Hongchang stood a few meters away and asked again, "Young man, do you want to come with us down the mountain?"

"Then you should be careful, there are many wild beasts in these deep mountains."

After speaking, Xu Hongchang gave the order, and everyone picked up their backpacks and left.

Watching the soldiers leave, Xiao Mohe remained motionless for a long time. After a long while, the bushes behind him were parted, and Xiao Moyu and Xiao Moyan emerged from the bushes, each carrying a skinned rabbit.

Xiao Moyu quickly went to the fire and blew on it, then added a few more pieces of dry firewood. Thick smoke slowly rose from the fire, and Xiao Moyan hurried over to help. Soon the two of them got the fire going.

"Brother, the fire's lit, let's roast the rabbit."

Xiao Mohe withdrew his gaze. "Yes, Yan Yan, step back a little. The fire is dangerous. Your brother will take care of it."

The three siblings quietly roasted rabbits in front of the fire. The two rabbits weren't very big, and they were cooked in less than half an hour. Clearly, their cooking skills weren't very good; the rabbits were burnt black.

"Big brother, look, is it cooked?" Xiao Moyu asked uncertainly. Xiao Mohe had never done this before, and without a knife, he couldn't cut it open to check. He could only take the rabbit out of the fire, enduring the heat, and use a small stick to tear off a strip from the top, handing it to Xiao Moyan.

"Little sister, have a taste and see if it's cooked."

Xiao Moyan stared at the meat for a long time. "Big brother, you eat first. I don't know if it's cooked or not."

Xiao Mohe stuffed the rabbit meat directly into Xiao Moyan's mouth.

Xiao Moyan's big eyes narrowed immediately, but her chewing motions were not slow at all. She quickly swallowed that small piece of meat.

"Mmm, big brother, it's delicious, so delicious."

Xiao Mohe suddenly felt a pang of sadness. How delicious could this be? It was just meat, which should be the best thing to eat, right?

"Let's eat then."

As they were talking, they started cutting the meat off the plate.

While breaking off pieces of meat, Xiao Mohe asked his younger brother and sister-in-law, "Xiaoyu, Yan Yan, do you want to stay here?"

The two were both looking down, waiting for their older brother to divide the meat, when he suddenly asked them this question, and they didn't react for a moment. After they both received the meat, Xiao Moyu took a big bite first, and only asked the question after swallowing the meat with a satisfied look on her face.

"Brother, what do you mean? Aren't we already in the mountains?"

Xiao Mohe quietly swallowed the meat in his mouth. "But they said it's not safe in the mountains."

Without even thinking, Xiao Moyu replied, "That's not necessarily true. We've been here for so many days and haven't encountered anything, right? It should be safe here."

"What if a wild beast comes one day?"

Xiao Moyu felt that the meat in his mouth no longer tasted good. He watched as his younger sister kept her head down eating the meat, showing no intention of paying attention to her older brother.

"Brother, let's eat first, we'll talk later." Even if he dies, he wants to die with a full stomach.

Xiao Mohe, like everyone else, couldn't resist the temptation of the meat and started eating heartily. The three children hadn't had a proper meal in a long time, and their stomachs were empty of oil and fat. There was even a little bit of the two rabbits left over, and all three were very satisfied.

Xiao Moyu and Xiao Moyan lay down directly on the rocky beach. Looking up at the dappled sky, Xiao Moyu said, "Big brother, if we could eat this much every day in the mountains, I would be willing to stay here every day."

Xiao Mohe looked at his younger brother lying on the ground with a satisfied expression, and felt a pang of sadness in his heart.

Xiao Moyan also stared at the sky, "If only Grandma could come along."

Suddenly, the two brothers' noses started to sting again.

Tang Yue sat on a large tree not far away, thinking that they should at least let the rabbit they had finally caught be eaten before leaving. Otherwise, it would be such a waste.
