Ancient cultivator Tang Jin was caught in a battle between cultivators and exotic beasts over a spiritual treasure and was accidentally transmigrated to another world.
He found himself to be ...
45
The man had just stepped inside when a dark figure flashed past. Wang Qingli had timed it perfectly; he had been poised to sprint and ram the door. Sensing the door was about to close, Wang Qingli lunged forward, and then...
"Ouch~"
Ah~
"Holy crap!"
All three fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
Tang Yue and Xu Zhenfei were both speechless, especially Tang Yue, who was utterly exasperated. This Yao Fengxian was truly more trouble than she was worth. She would have been better off not helping at all; now, she was only making things worse.
It turned out that Yao Fengxian wanted to come and help; she wanted to take over Wang Qingli's work, thinking that since she was a bit older than him, she should be stronger. But she was too impatient; before the man even entered the house and before the door was closed, she rushed out.
Wang Qingli, however, had experience with this. He relied entirely on his estimated time to bump into the man, which resulted in someone being bumped out before the other person even entered. Wang Qingli followed closely behind, and the good result was that he managed to knock the man down. The bad news was that the man outside and the people next door now knew what was happening.
"Heizi!"
The man in black guarding the door understood immediately. The gunshot had likely come from the kids grabbing the gun. "Damn it, I've been in this business for so many years, and I've never been humiliated like this by merchandise."
As he spoke, the gun was already pointed at Wang Qingli. The most important one was in the arms of the second woman. These were all temporary additions that had been grabbed. Since they were disobedient, there was no need for them to live.
Before the words were even finished, a gunshot rang out.
"Get out of the way!"
All that was said happened in an instant. Tang Yue saw that the man had already fired at Yao Fengxian and Wang Qingli, who were still in shock from being thrown forward.
Tang Yue disregarded everything else and swiftly rushed towards the two men. At the same time, two gunshots rang out from two directions. The three gunshots occurred almost simultaneously.
Tang Yue quickly pulled the two apart. The spot where Wang Qingli had just fallen was now riddled with bullet holes, creating a small crater and sending dust flying.
At the same time, a heavy groan came from the man at the door. It turned out that Chang Yin and Wang Ming had fired their guns at the same time. One shot hit the man's wrist holding the gun, and the other shot the man's leg.
The gun in the man's hand fell to the ground with a thud, and he knelt on one knee.
The man inside the house fired his pistol directly at Chang Yin's position. Gunfire immediately erupted around the courtyard. The man inside, protected by the wall, fired a shot and then retreated behind it, making him unreachable by Chang Yin and the others.
The man inside had limited visibility and dared not come out. After a burst of gunfire, the two sides were locked in a stalemate.
He often hid behind the eaves of his neighbor's house and shouted into the yard, "You are surrounded. Surrender. Confess and you will be treated leniently; resist and you will be punished severely."
The man inside was drenched in sweat. He thought he might not make it out of this courtyard today. But if there was even the slightest chance, they would still give it a shot. Given the bad things they had done, even if they surrendered, they would probably still be shot.
Upon hearing Chang Yin speak, the man assessed the location and immediately fired in that direction.
The bullet struck the roof tiles next to Chang Yin, shattering two roof tiles and sending fragments flying towards him.
Chang Yin raised his arm to block the bullet. Taking advantage of this moment, the man below fired again. Tang Yue, who had been paying close attention to the battle, saw the bullet about to hit Chang Yin's arm and quickly called out to warn him.
"Get out of the way!"
Chang Yin rolled away to avoid the bullets, glancing down at Tang Yue.
Chang Yin gripped his gun without looking at the courtyard. "Surrender. We'll run out of bullets sooner or later."
Just as he finished speaking, the man inside realized that he was almost out of bullets. He was furious at Tang Yue's reminder and fired directly at her.
"Damn brat."
Tang Yue pulled Wang Qingli and Yao Fengxian, dodging left and right, managing to avoid three bullets. Yao Fengxian had already fainted from fright when she dodged the second bullet. Wang Qingli was not much better off than Yao Fengxian; his face was deathly pale.
The man fired three bullets but missed Tang Yue. He was about to fire again in a fit of rage when the woman reminded him, "Don't shoot anymore, you only have one bullet left."
"What?"
Erpei was somewhat incredulous. He pulled back the magazine to check, and sure enough, there was only one bullet inside. Erpei loaded the magazine and leaned weakly against the wall. "We're finished this time."
The woman's face was somber as she stared out the window, which was covered with paper. "No, there is another way."
"What?"
Erpei was somewhat incredulous. What time was it? They were out of bullets. Weren't they just waiting to be arrested?
"We still have one bullet left, we still have a chance to get out."
Erpei stared intently at Woman B, who was holding a child who looked to be a little over two years old. The child's eyes were closed, as if the child had been sleeping.
“I’ll hold the child, and you point the gun at the child’s head. This child is important; otherwise, they wouldn’t keep chasing us. We’ll use this child as leverage to force them to let us leave.”
Otherwise, this child shouldn't live.
Erpei's eyes lit up. "Great idea!" "Okay, let's do it that way."
After saying that, Erpei pointed the gun at the child's head, then grabbed the woman's arm and kicked the door open, saying, "Haha, come on, shoot me!"
"If anyone dares to fire, I'll shoot that little bastard first. Hahaha."
Chang Yin saw the door open, but there was no one else inside. He wasn't sure if anyone was still inside, but now that the child was being held hostage, he had no choice but to show himself.
Chang Yin stood up from the rooftop. Not far away, someone was pointing a gun at the room they had come from.
