Chapter 472 Tang Nan Acts Without Authorization

472

Tang Nan moved through the forest like a nimble monkey, his firecrackers and barbed wire scattering the American troops behind him into chaos. Taking advantage of the confusion, he wiped the rain and blood from his face and chased after the small group escorting the old man.

The American soldiers cursed, some limping, some firing wildly, but they couldn't catch the agile figure.

Meanwhile, the two teams dispatched by Battalion Commander Yang, led by Sun Jinan and Zhang Dabing, quickly arrived. Sun Jinan's team circled around from the east, using the dense forest as cover, and quietly set up their homemade guns, aiming at the American troops. "Fire!" With a command, the homemade guns roared deafeningly, the muzzle flashes particularly blinding in the rain. The American soldiers were caught off guard by this sudden attack; several unlucky men fell to the ground, while the rest scrambled for cover.

Zhang Dabing's troops came from the west, carrying homemade bombs and smoke grenades, and charged towards the American troops while shouting.

"Throw!" Zhang Dabing roared, and bombs and smoke grenades rained down on the US troops' positions. "Boom! Boom!" Explosions rang out one after another, flames soared into the sky, and thick smoke billowed.

The US troops were bombed into pieces; some soldiers were blown away by the blast wave, while many more were enveloped in smoke, coughing and fleeing in panic.

Enraged by this, the US officer shouted, "Open fire! Throw bombs! Wipe out all these damned bastards!"

The American soldiers steadied themselves and opened fire with their machine guns. A hail of bullets pounded the tree trunks, sending splinters flying, forcing Sun Jinan and Zhang Dabing's team to lie on the ground for cover.

However, the young and strong men from the border region that Tang Yue led recently have gained experience in combat. After just a moment of dodging, they can immediately throw a lot of smoke grenades and bombs at the American troops.

The smoke grenades were multicolored, and their explosions instantly obscured the US military's line of sight and firepower. Furthermore, Sun Jinan and Zhang Dabing had brought a considerable number of men with them.

A swarm of tiny black dots rained down on them, and the American soldiers were all terrified.

"Oh my god, isn't that the goddess's army? Good heavens, we're surrounded by the goddess's army." An American soldier looked at the colorful smoke grenades and instantly remembered the story they had heard.

At the time, I didn't think much of it and even laughed at the American troops stationed near the goddess's entourage. If they were there, they would never have let the goddess's entourage be defeated like that.

But when they actually encountered them, they realized how terrifying the Goddess team was. They didn't play by the rules at all. When you fired, they threw smoke grenades; when you threw bombs, they fired.

When you aim again, you can no longer see anyone. At this rate, when will they ever be able to touch anyone?

Upon hearing the American soldier's words, the American soldiers were thrown into disarray. They hadn't been afraid initially; they believed in science. However, the goddess's recent victories had been truly remarkable. Now, they were genuinely afraid.

In this battle, the young and strong of the Vietnamese were facing more than 2,000 American troops. They had fought many such battles before and were not anxious at all. They proceeded methodically, and it was not long before the American troops began to show signs of weakness.

Meanwhile, Tang Yue left the temporary camp somewhat anxiously. Her consciousness was constantly projected outwards, drifting in the direction Tang Nan had left.

Tang Nan's footsteps fell heavily on the muddy mountain path, rain dripping from his hair, but unable to extinguish the raging fire in his eyes.

The images of the old man being wantonly humiliated by the US soldiers at Base 9 were like sharp blades, repeatedly piercing his heart. Watching the hurried figures of the escort team ahead, the fire burning within him grew even more intense: "Even if I'm alone, I will never let the old man suffer any longer!"

The rain poured down, large raindrops pounding on the muddy mountain path, splashing up layers of mud. Tang Nan clung to the damp mountain wall, hiding behind a dense thicket of bushes. Rain dripped continuously from his chin, but it could not extinguish the fire of revenge burning in his eyes.

He squinted, peering intently through the rain at the escorting team ahead. Six American soldiers fanned out around the old man, their weapons gleaming coldly in the rain, their steps hurried yet their vigilance constant.

The American troops below were in disarray, with gunfire and explosions erupting all around them. They hadn't gone far, so they could hear it all. However, their mission was different; this squad had no intention of going back to provide support.

Tang Nan knew the American army's firepower was fierce, and a direct assault by him alone would be futile. However, he didn't want to give up this opportunity; they might regroup somewhere else. Now, he had no choice but to outsmart them.

Rainwater washed over the MM14 rifle in Tang Nan's hands. He gently wiped the barrel to ensure it remained dry. After observing for a while, he noticed that a US soldier at the end of the column seemed somewhat lax, his steps were slow, and he kept glancing around.

Tang Nan had an idea and decided to start with this soldier.

Taking advantage of the instant a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, Tang Nan pulled the trigger, "Bang!"

The gunshots, mixed with the sound of rain and the fierce fighting below, went largely unnoticed. The American soldier froze, then slowly collapsed into the mud. The other soldiers, however, remained oblivious, continuing to escort the old man forward.

Tang Nan quickly changed his ammunition and continued searching for his next target. This time, he focused on the soldiers on the left side of the column. He moved cautiously, trying to make as little noise as possible, while using the terrain and the sound of the rain as cover, slowly approaching.

When the distance was close enough, he fired again decisively, and another US soldier fell to the ground.
