Chapter 485 Killing Blake

485

Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai waited for another half hour at the agreed-upon spot. During that time, patrol teams kept passing by, making their stay extremely dangerous. Chang Yin glanced at his watch and finally sighed.

"Something must have happened to Lao Fei."

Tang Shengkai shared this feeling, but neither of them wanted to believe it was true. They hadn't yet fully grasped the base, and if something happened to Lao Fei, they would likely be immediately exposed.

Chang Yin narrowed his eyes slightly. "Go and deal with Blake and the rest of the squad immediately."

Tang Shengkai understood Chang Yin's meaning, "But once we arrived here, apart from the people from Blake's team, the others who came with us have been assigned to different places. How are we supposed to find them?"

Tang Shengkai had one more thing to say: these American soldiers really all looked alike. They weren't familiar with each other to begin with, and now that he was being asked to deal with them, to be honest, he probably didn't even remember what they all looked like.

This is the difference between someone who has done a classified mission and an ordinary soldier. Chang Yin would never forget the face of anyone he had met, even if he didn't know their name, regardless of their nationality.

Chang Yin did not refute Tang Shengkai's words, "Let's take care of the people in Black's team first. They are the ones who know us best and are the ones who can identify Lao Fei the most. Others may not be able to recognize Lao Fei just because they all look the same to people of East Asian descent."

Tang Shengkai...

It seems he's not the only one with this problem.

"Blake's team of seventeen men were scattered in different places, acting according to the situation. Every time they took down one, they would put a stone in the ventilation duct as a signal."

Tang Shengkai nodded, and the two immediately split up. The night was as dark as ink; Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai's first hunting operation at Base 5 was about to begin.

The beams of searchlights swept back and forth across the base like ghostly arms. Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai pressed themselves against the cold metal wall, their breathing barely audible.

Chang Yin pulled a small metal whistle from his pocket. He had found it on the body of a U.S. soldier and it could mimic the alarm sounds of various devices in the base.

He whispered to Tang Shengkai, "Their squad is scattered in different areas. We need to find a way to lure them out one by one. You go to the west, I'll go to the east. Don't forget, put a rock in the ventilation duct after you take them down."

Chang Yin was not worried about Tang Shengkai's abilities. With their current strength, they could handle even one against a hundred without using any weapons.

The problem is that we live in the age of firearms; no matter how powerful they are, they are still just mortals. Tang Shengkai nodded, and his figure quietly disappeared into the darkness.

He walked along the narrow alley, his ears constantly listening to the sounds around him. Turning a corner, he saw a figure dozing against the wall, the familiar Black Squad insignia on the uniform faintly visible in the dim light.

Tang Shengkai narrowed his eyes. What a coincidence, running into someone so soon. And this guy's luck is pretty bad, getting on duty on his very first day here. But that's fine, saves him the trouble of looking for someone.

Tang Shengkai slowly drew the short knife from his boot and approached under the shadows.

When Tang Shengkai was only three steps away from the enemy, he suddenly exerted his strength, plunging his short knife deep into the back of the man's neck. The man didn't even have time to utter a groan before his body collapsed to the ground. Tang Shengkai quickly dragged the body into the nearby storage room, picked up a stone from the ground, and stuffed it into the ventilation duct.

Meanwhile, Chang Yin also spotted the target in the eastern area. A soldier from Black's squad was inspecting the equipment, and Chang Yin observed him for a while, noticing that he would go to the tool cabinet next to him to get tools every few minutes.

Chang Yin's heart stirred, and he quietly went around to the back of the tool cabinet, clenching his fists and waiting for the right moment.

As the soldier approached the tool cabinet, Chang Yin darted out like lightning, his arm gripping the soldier's neck like an iron clamp, while his other hand tightly covered the soldier's mouth.

He twisted his waist sharply, and with a crisp "crack," the soldier's head slumped limply. Chang Yin quickly hid the body and placed a stone into the ventilation duct as well.

And so, the two moved through the base like ghosts, taking down members of Blake's team one by one. More and more rocks filled the ventilation ducts, but they still couldn't find any trace of Blake.

When Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai met up, both looked exhausted; they hadn't had a proper rest in a long time. Especially these past few days, they had been under constant stress. Tonight was even more so.

"That Blake is like a slippery eel, he's really hiding well," Tang Shengkai said in a low voice. Tang Shengkai had already searched the walkable area twice, but he still couldn't find Blake.

Chang Yin pondered for a moment and said, "He's the captain, and when we arrived, we saw that Blake was familiar with some of the people here. Maybe he went to find some familiar comrades."

Tang Shengkai leaned against the wall and closed his eyes to rest. "The defense here is so tight, and we still haven't been able to find him. It seems that his comrade-in-arms must be of a high rank."

Chang Yin shared the same thought; after all, there were some areas where ordinary soldiers like them couldn't enter without orders. "Keep searching. Blake is the most dangerous one."

"I really don't know where he can go," Tang Shengkai sighed softly.

Chang Yin's mind raced. Blake seemed to be targeting them. But why did he have such a strong prejudice against them? He didn't seem to care much about the other Asians.

A gear pattern vaguely popped into Chang Yin's mind; he wasn't sure where he'd seen it before. As for why he suddenly remembered it, he recalled finding a badge with the same gear engraved in a soldier's pocket while cleaning up his body.
