Old Li squinted and looked closely. They were walking with a slight limp. After walking a distance further, he realized that they were carrying something.

Old Li hurried forward, "Comrades, what are you doing?"

Wang Ming and the others breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Old Li coming towards them. "Fellow villager, it's alright. Just wait there."

Old Li stopped in his tracks, and only when Wang Ming and the others got closer could he see clearly that the two of them were carrying a large wild boar.

Today, the weeding in the village was finished, and preparations were made to start harvesting corn in a few days. Wang Ming didn't mention the specifics of the situation on the mountain, only saying that they had run into Tang Yue and needed her help with some things, so he asked her to stay at the military base for a few days.

Lin Cuicui sensed something was wrong and wanted to ask more questions. Old Li knew more than she did. "Alright. Comrade, Yueyue is still young, and we're worried about leaving her alone in the army. Please send her back as soon as possible."

Wang Ming laughed, "Don't worry, I'll make sure to bring it back to you safely."

Lin Cuicui looked at her father and then reluctantly felt relieved.

Village Chief Li returned from the town's health center exhausted. As soon as he entered his house, someone came to find him, saying that there were soldiers at the Tang family's house and asking him to go there.

Village Chief Li quickly cheered himself up and walked over.

Chang Yin and the others took turns carrying Tang Yue through the woods, rejoining the main force as dusk approached. Their training mission was to stay in the mountains for three days, but he had urgent business to attend to and had to return to his unit immediately.

Chang Yin booked a room for Tang Yue at the military's guesthouse and sent her in with her basket.

Tang Yue just met her father, but Chang Yin doesn't seem to want the two of them to meet.

Braised pork belly? She felt like she'd heard that name somewhere before; it must be delicious, right?

Chang Yin agreed and left.

Just as they stepped out of the military dependents' area, they ran into Tang Shengkai, who was anxiously waiting.

Upon seeing Chang Yin approach, Tang Shengkai quickly stepped forward and saluted, then hurriedly asked, "Battalion Commander, why is my daughter here with the army? What is she doing all alone on the mountain?"
