A heartwarming daily life farming novel, occasionally also a passionate epic.
Spears spread across the wilderness like a thriving forest. Glorious knights march in formation, and countless bl...
"Vestena, this is not something you can decide. Do not arbitrarily interfere with Her Majesty the Queen's judgment."
Several conservative forest elf representatives looked at the elven sage who was standing in front of them with gloomy faces.
"I will return the same words to you. I hope you will not question the judgment of Her Majesty the Queen." Westena responded directly.
"You..." Some opponents were so angry that they looked agitated.
"Indeed, this sudden decision surprised you and made it difficult for you to accept. However, this cannot be a reason for you to obstruct it."
"If you refuse or oppose because you don't understand or feel uncomfortable, you're no different than a child. But standing in the Holy Tree Hall right now isn't the place for you to cry and complain about your weakness and dissatisfaction."
"If you want to stop me, or Her Majesty the Queen's decision, please provide solid reasons and evidence, instead of just using words like 'not good', 'worry', 'it seems unnecessary', and 'it has never happened before' to fool people." Westena held the staff horizontally in front of her, challenging these stubborn and conservative forest elves.
"Haha..., good, very good, is this the majesty of His Majesty the Sage?" An opponent said sarcastically.
"Isn't it obvious that there are concrete reasons and basis? Do we have to face the worst possible outcome before we oppose you?" Several more opponents spoke up next. They were not here to debate with the elf sage, or rather, debate could not resolve the long-held ideas in their hearts.
"Don't you have any ideas or expectations for the future? Staying in the forest forever, living this kind of life day after day." Seeing Westena being besieged by the other party's words, Asara, as a friend, stood up. Although he was not one of the fifteen seats of the Emerald Court, as the leader of the Pelican Crown, he still had considerable influence.
"Is there anything wrong with this? Do I have to change to prove my greatness and excellence?" Sabrina finally couldn't help but retort to Asara. She had been angry with Westena for a long time.
"But in today's era, standing still means falling behind and being gradually left behind. When that time comes, I'm afraid our room for choice will be very limited." A faction leader who supports Westena also responded, refuting the growing isolationism in the forest.
In the following time, the two parties had various arguments and rebuttals in the Holy Tree Hall, but they were unable to convince each other. Neither side easily changed their minds, or it would be strange to change the concepts established over the past few decades in a short period of time.
Seeing that the conflict between the two sides was intensifying and even getting more and more angry, the neutral party who had been sitting quietly on the side for a long time finally stood up. In fact, they did not care much about such proposals or changes, but if the conflict between the two sides continued, the Emerald Forest might fall into chaos and fighting, which was something they did not want to see.
"Can everyone pause for a moment and listen to other opinions or suggestions?" Marantha and two other respected elves came between the two sides, and the quarreling sounds in the hall slowly subsided.
After a while of arguing, both sides were a little anxious and tired, and didn't want to continue, so they just waited to see what this person had to say.
"I know that everyone is thinking about the future of the forest and the elves, but if we continue arguing now, I'm afraid we won't get a satisfactory result for everyone." The elven lady soothed everyone's emotions in a calm and steady voice.
"I also agree with Lady Marantha's idea." As she spoke, the two twin princesses came out together. They were Aetya and Aetsi. They were wearing slim-fitting gradient long skirts today, from white to blue, and the ends of the skirts were as transparent as tulle.
Among the five elf princesses today, this twin is particularly dazzling and powerful, and as candidates for the Elf Queen, they still have great influence in the hearts of many forest elves.
"There will always be differences and disagreements, and such differences cannot be ignored, but we don't want to see the forest split apart. I think this will hurt both sides." Aitesi spoke first.
"So, we propose to resolve the dispute in another way." Athea blinked, glanced at everyone in the hall, and then expressed her thoughts.
"In the distant past, the human empire would resolve irreconcilable disputes through duels. This method is somewhat cruel and barbaric, and unsuitable for us elves, but there are also aspects that we can learn from. So, I'm wondering if the two sides could choose some events to compete in or set up tests, and based on the final outcome, agree on the future direction of the forest."
"Competition and test..." Some elves fell into thought and analysis.
Although both sides suspected that this was an ally prepared by the other side in advance, there seemed to be no better choice at the moment. Are they really going to go to war? No, it has not come to that point. Although they oppose each other, they do not have such a deep hatred. Moreover, both sides have many concerns, such as each other's blood ties, students' families, etc., and it is difficult for them to really turn their swords against each other.
There is little point in continuing the debate. Neither side will give in easily. Rather than getting caught up in all kinds of conspiracies and intrigues, it is better to decide the issue in this way.
Whether supporters or opponents, they actually don't like the overly scheming strategies of humans, which go against their usual simple and peaceful lifestyle. In fact, if the world were not undergoing tremendous changes, the Emerald Forest would have maintained such a peaceful and comfortable life.
Now, however, some experienced elves are gradually realizing that they can no longer sit idly by. The fall of the empire will cause the elves to lose their ties with human society, and then return to their past, or even worse, isolation. The world is changing rapidly, and not embracing change means falling behind and being left behind, a result that is heartbreaking and sad.
