Chapter 351 Queen Evelyn

"Okay, I'll send you here. I've already informed the maid about your visit. Her Majesty the Queen's reception room is further ahead." Okah stopped and stood aside holding a sword.

"clear."

Earl Shane nodded, then looked at the four knights standing in front of the gate. These knights were all wearing armor with unicorn emblems, but there were also rose symbols on their shoulders and left chests, making him unsure which side they were on.

Forget it, let's go see Her Majesty the Queen first. He had met the former Princess Everly many times in the past. She was a capable princess.

The knights pushed open the thick door. In the small reception room, a queen in a black and red dress sat on a dark throne with two maids on her side. There were also two rows of knights standing upright in the reception room and several recorders.

Earl Shane walked across the empty hall with his head lowered. He stopped not far from the queen and knelt on one knee to salute.

"It's Earl Shane, right?"

"Yes, Your Majesty." He stood up and slowly raised his head before he could see the queen's face clearly.

It has to be said that Princess Evelyn, or Queen Evelyn's appearance has not changed much from the past. She still looks young, in her twenties. The youth of extraordinary people is always exceptionally long, and they don't age easily.

With her golden hair coiled behind her head, paired with a crown outlined with gold threads and embellished with gems, and topaz-like pupils, the queen in a black and red dress possesses a natural majesty and temperament.

The Queen did not show much emotional fluctuation at the arrival of Earl Shane. It seemed that she had seen enough such loyal ministers and was very skilled in dealing with and comforting them.

After a while of conversation, Shane received his future mission and arrangements, and was also recognized and protected by the Queen. He then slowly withdrew and left the quiet and solemn reception room.

Afterwards, Evelyn and her two maids left and returned to their usual residence.

"Just stand guard outside the door, no need to come in."

"Yes, Your Majesty." The two trusted maids bowed their heads and replied.

"Ding." With the sound of a door closing gently, the room fell silent.

The big bed in the bedroom was covered with crimson sheets with golden patterns on them. There were gauze hanging from the four corners of the bed to block mosquitoes and breezes. The other decorations in the room were also very exquisite, revealing the royal style and etiquette.

But Evelyn was not very interested in these.

After closing the door, she breathed a sigh of relief, then sat down in front of the dressing table and looked at herself in the mirror.

A light makeup was applied on her already beautiful face to better reveal her contours and appearance. The difference between a queen and an emperor was that the emperor had to do his utmost to maintain his dignity, while the queen was more concerned with maintaining her beauty.

"How is that Earl Shane?" Suddenly, another voice sounded in the room.

Although her heart skipped a beat, Evelin quickly reacted and slowed down. She looked at the man sitting on the windowsill.

"You're always so sudden."

"Sorry, I'm used to hiding my body." Rock, dressed in black, replied.

"There is nothing unusual about Earl Shane. He can be said to be a loyal subject of the royal family. As long as I sit on the queen's throne, he will be loyal to me." Evelyn adjusted her dress and then turned around.

"It's really convenient, the title of royal family." Rock shook his head slightly and looked at the vast scenery outside the window.

"If you just sit there and do nothing, countless people will come to you with money, families, soldiers, and wealth." He said in a slightly sarcastic tone.

After hearing this, Evelin frowned slightly: "What do you mean by sitting there and not moving? Do you think you can achieve the same level as me by just grabbing a princess or prince?"

"It seems so." Rock recalled his past with Edren. He had seemed to accomplish many things with ease. Even back in school, he was only the president managing a few dozen people. Later, he rose through the ranks to become the Regent, and surprisingly, he had no difficulty adapting.

"What are you thinking about?" Looking at Rock's expression, Evelyn felt that her restraint as a princess could no longer be suppressed.

"Are you comparing me to Edlen again?"

"Yeah, that's true." Someone who seemed to be a straight man answered.

"It's not enough that the Edren brothers rebelled and deprived my brother of his throne. But if they hadn't severely weakened the empire and failed to suppress its internal problems, allowing my nephew to reclaim the throne, the empire wouldn't be in its current dire state."

Thinking of the once glorious and powerful imperial royal family, Princess and Queen Evelyn felt distressed and regretful.

"According to our father's arrangement, one of the brothers would marry a daughter of the Landsworthy family, and the other would marry a legitimate daughter of the Salus family. This would have ensured a smooth transition. Furthermore, with Prince Ansel's abilities, a peaceful reform might have been possible. How could the situation be like it is now, with the entire place in disarray and no sign of a solution?"

Evelyn was also angry when she thought that she and her sister had escaped the dispute for the throne and were found again and pushed into this dangerous vortex of power.

Although she has a strong personality and is keen on power, her sister Teslin is innocent and kind-hearted. If she were forced to ascend the throne, she would face countless worries and fears.

"Yes, if there were no problems within the imperial royal family." Rock responded, lamenting the accumulated power of the imperial royal family for thousands of years. Even he had to rely on the name of the royal family if he wanted to do something.

There was silence between the two for a while.

"What are you pursuing, Rock? I didn't hear your name in school until recently. We enrolled only a few years apart, so you should have seen me in school." Evelyn looked at the assassin.
