Extra: The Nameless Assassin

"Rock, Rock, wake up."

The early morning calls woke me up, and I got out of bed reluctantly.

"What's wrong?"

I looked at the chubby boy in front of me. He was the son of my father's guard, and his name was Weiner. Weiner was a very common name in the West, just like the stones on the roadside. Poor families didn't dare to give their children too strange names, so they often gave their children this name.

As the name suggests, Weiner is very ordinary. Apart from being a little greedy and timid, he has basically no special features.

"Brother Rock, Lu Lin is being beaten by Toto. If you don't go... he will be beaten to death by Toto." It can be seen that he really wants to ask me for help, but he can't find a good excuse.

But there doesn't really need to be any reason for this.

"Where is it? Take me there." I got up and put on my shoes, then picked up the two daggers under the bed and hung them around my waist, then walked out of the room quickly.

Lu Lin is Weina's friend. They often go to Baron Boris's kitchen to eat secretly. As a result, Weina usually eats more and Lu Lin gets beaten more, but Lu Lin still treats Weina as a good friend.

Because Werner's father is my father's subordinate, he also recognizes me as his elder brother and often comes to please me. I occasionally help him, and he will praise me with words that are so annoying that they make me feel anxious. Then he will use my name to quarrel with other peers in the town.

I guess Toto has been provoked again this time. His father is an important blacksmith in the Baron's family, so he is not afraid of me, the captain of the guards' child.

When we arrived at the mud and gravel street in the town, there was already a crowd of people there. I squeezed in and saw Toto stepping on Lu Lin on the ground, and Lu Lin was holding something, which was wrapped in cloth and there was oil inside.

I guess he went to Baron Boris's kitchen to steal again. I shook my head, but I couldn't just watch Toto continue to bully Lu Lin.

"Let him go." I shouted with a frown.

"Haha, I knew you'd come back. Weiner always says you're protecting him. If you don't come this time, it would be embarrassing."

The blacksmith's son was not the kind of person who only used brute force. He could see through Weiner's little thoughts behind me at a glance.

"Yes, I'm protecting him, so what? Just move your feet away." I saw Lu Lin lying on the ground with shoe prints all over his face and dirty dirt in his mouth. It didn't take much to tell that he had hidden injuries on his body.

"You can move them out of the way, but you have to go apologize to Butler Deli and tell him you were the one who asked them to steal things from the kitchen."

"That won't work." I refused directly.

What a joke. If I go like this, with Butler Yidley's strictness, not only will I be scolded by my father, but it will also affect our family's image in Baron Boris's mind.

In our town, most of the better jobs and businesses are related to Baron Boris. After all, this is his family fiefdom.

"Then fight me, but no weapons allowed," he said provocatively.

"All right."

Soon, surrounded by a crowd of people, the two of us came to an open space on the edge of the town and started fighting. The reason I use this word is that I feel this is still too far from the standard of a duel, after all, both sides are minors.

The fight lasted for a few minutes and ended. Toto was kicked to the ground by me and could not get up again. Although he tried to hit me with the hidden iron ring on his finger, I easily avoided it and tripped him several times.

After the fight, I took Lu Lin and Weiner away and came to a quiet place with few people, and then asked about the process.

The result was not surprising. It was Weiner who encouraged Lu Lin to go to the kitchen to get something because he smelled kitchen smoke and thought that the Baron's family would make delicious food like roast chicken today.

"Weina is so smart." Lu Lin rubbed his swollen face and opened the package in his hand with a smile. There was indeed half a roast chicken inside, but because of what happened just now, it had been kneaded to pieces.

Weiner drooled as he looked at the roast chicken, and then told Lu Lin that he was extremely hungry.

Lu Lin directly handed the roast chicken that he had saved with great difficulty to Weiner, and the latter started to eat it.

After that, I talked to the two of them for a few more words and asked Weiner to go back first.

"Is Lu Lin okay?" I saw that he had been beaten quite a lot before.

"It's okay, I can take it." He smiled foolishly.

"Heh." I asked him to sit down and then undressed him.

Looking at the bruised body, I was silent for a long time, and then asked some questions. Although Lu Lin didn't want to answer, under my repeated and strong requests, he still told some of his feelings.

"If you continue like this, you'll probably make your sister sad." Lu Lin's parents passed away a long time ago, and his sister worked as a maid in the Baron's mansion to make a living while taking care of her younger brother.

"Please don't tell my sister, she works very hard and I don't want to cause her any trouble."

"If you don't want to cause her trouble, why do you help Werner steal things from the kitchen?" I shook my head.

"I am Weiner's good friend. I should do something for my friend. Besides, Weiner often goes hungry."

"No, I think he eats a lot more than you and is fatter than you."

"Besides, even if you consider Weiner as a friend, has he ever considered you? Has he ever given you anything good?" I questioned and pointed out the truth.

"But, but..." His voice trailed off and he couldn't speak.

“He’s the only friend I have.”

Suddenly, I seemed to realize something, Lu Lin's status in the town and the environment he was in.

Not all commoner children have a father like me who can speak a few words in front of the baron. Besides, I am familiar with the baron's children and we have a good relationship with each other, so no adult will make things difficult for me.

Lu Lin was not very smart and was often fooled by others. When he was bullied, he had to turn to his sister for help. However, his sister was not a beauty. She was just a low-class person doing odd jobs in the Baron's mansion. She could not help her brother and could only hug him and cry.
