Chicken feet delivery, what's not to like?
"Hey, how come there's a book here?" There was a yellowed book at the bottom of the wooden box, which looked very old.
I took it out and opened it. It was filled with dense writing, in a script similar to that of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. I couldn't understand it at all. I flipped to the next page and was immediately shocked. On the last page, there was a picture of a bluebird drawn in ink, the kind I had seen in the Shu tomb. It had a snake's head and a bird's body, and it was extremely eerie.
"What's the story behind this book? Why has Grandpa never mentioned it to me before?" He wondered to himself, deciding to have Xiang Fei take a look at it sometime, since he should be able to understand the text.
Inside the wooden box was a notebook left by our ancestor, which I had read a long time ago. It contained records of the Taoist rituals our ancestor performed and the auspicious burial sites he found throughout his life.
What puzzled me was that one of the pages had been torn out. My grandfather had told me that my great-grandfather had torn it out himself, saying that the contents involved some taboo matters and that it was better for future generations to know as little as possible.
My grandfather told me that our great-grandfather was born in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. At that time, it was a chaotic era. The Qing Dynasty had fallen, various forces rose up, warlords fought each other, and people suffered. Then the War of Resistance against Japan broke out, and people were displaced and millions of corpses were left on the ground.
When chaos erupted, celestial phenomena became disordered, the Big Dipper shifted, and not only humans but also all sorts of demons and monsters emerged to stir up trouble. As a result, the Taoists at that time engaged in a life-or-death struggle with all sorts of demons and monsters, fighting with both magic and physical strength.
According to my grandfather, our great-grandfather once captured a thousand-year-old vengeful ghost, slew a corpse demon, and suppressed a yellow rat that had become a spirit. He also went to Sichuan to help people fight against evil people and went to the battlefield to summon thousands of lonely ghosts.
At that time, our ancestor was very famous and held a very high position in Taoism. However, he died not long after liberation. My grandfather said that when he died, he just sat there and passed away without any warning. It seemed ordinary but was a bit strange. At that time, the whole country was breaking down feudal superstitions, so our Liu family did not dare to make a fuss and simply handled our ancestor's funeral.
"It's a pity that this page is no longer available. Our ancestor has been dead for so many years, it's impossible for him to know what's inside anymore." I tidied up the things and took them out to sunbathe.
A photo fell out of there. I picked it up and looked at it. I immediately realized something, so I ran into the house and took out the photo that the Monkey King had given me. I compared them.
The two photos were actually taken in the same place, but the one in the wooden box is better preserved, and the people inside can be seen clearly. To my surprise, my great-grandfather was also in it, and the person standing next to him was none other than the grandfather of the chairman of Tianyu Group.
I guessed it. Since the two photos were taken in the same place and are both black and white, they must have been taken at the same time, or even at the same time.
Although I can only make out most of this picture that the Monkey King gave me, it was brought out of the Shu Tomb. What does this mean? It means that someone must have gone inside back then.
"It seems this matter involves our ancestors' generation," I thought to myself. This truly is an unsolved mystery that has lasted for thousands of years!
I've made up my mind to go see Xiang Fei tomorrow and have a proper talk with him. I have a feeling this matter is far more complicated than we think. I'll also talk to him about the carpenter and hear his opinion.
In the afternoon, I was called by the villagers to go fishing in the river. The river was almost completely drained, but there were still puddles of all sizes inside. I just wore my underwear and went in. I could see that the puddles were teeming with fish, some of them weighing over ten kilograms. Of course, these were only a small fraction of the total. Our river is a natural river that has never dried up and is deep and has never been polluted.
People were fishing everywhere. Uncle Ren and I found a spot and started fishing. In about half an hour, we had a big bucket full of fish, all of which were common in the south.
This place was originally in the middle of the river, and I guess it has never been exposed to the sun. Now, when I step on it, I feel a chill. Suddenly, I feel something hard under my feet. I quickly reach out and pull it out. It is a piece of iron. I wash it in the puddle and it turns out to be a piece of copper. It looks like it broke off from some kind of copperware.
Just then, someone nearby shouted, "Come quick, everyone! There's treasure here!" I saw that someone had actually picked up a copper bowl, and the scene immediately erupted like a pot boiling over. People from all around rushed over, and the sounds rose and fell.
Soon, people realized that there must have been a large tomb here, but it was destroyed by a flood, and the burial objects inside were washed away here.
The news spread quickly, alarming the government, which then sent people to protect the scene.
One Hundred and Seven Bronze Seals
Those who found the item were naturally overjoyed, while those who didn't had no choice but to accept their bad luck.
Uncle Ren and the others were all smiles, having found something. Uncle Ren, in particular, found a silver hairpin, which, although only half of it, was still worth a lot of money.
I didn't say anything because I had also found two things. One was the copper piece I found first, and the other was something that excited me. It was a bronze seal with some ancient characters that I could vaguely see on it.
If I'm not mistaken, this bronze seal script was probably a tool used in ancient times to record things, and it was only used to record some particularly important matters.
Moreover, bronze seals were also a tool for divination. In ancient times, people would observe the celestial phenomena at night and record unbelievable events using bronze seals. In other words, the bronze seal I am holding now is very likely to record a very special event that happened in ancient times.
