Chicken feet delivery, what's not to like?
The Monkey King remained silent, only observing her.
Ye He thought he was still angry, so she had no choice but to brazenly continue with a smile: "The weather is so nice, the peach blossoms in the suburbs have been blooming for a long time, let me invite you to go for a spring outing!"
The Monkey King looked at the smiling face before him. A moment ago, the eyes were round and bright, but now they were curved into slits, making the face appear to have no eyes at all. This smile amused the Monkey King, and he immediately felt enlightened.
Let's go then!
The peach blossoms in the suburbs have indeed bloomed, a pink cloud stretching from one end to the other.
Many people were enjoying the spring outing, traveling in twos and threes, filled with laughter and joy.
Looking at the girls strolling together in the distance, the Monkey King said to Ye He: Why didn't you ask your friends to come with you for a spring outing? Instead, you dragged me out here.
Ye He squinted at the peach blossoms in the distance and said nonchalantly, "I don't have any friends. I've spent my whole life in the wine cellar, where would I find any friends?"
The Monkey King was stunned. He turned to look at the young woman beside him. She, however, seemed completely unconcerned, tilting her face up and letting the sunlight and wind wash over her.
"Won't you be lonely without friends?" Even as the Monkey King uttered this question, he still felt a pang of sadness in his heart.
Ye He opened her eyes, looked at him, and smiled: "I've never had any friends growing up, and I've never experienced what it feels like to have friends. Of course, I'm not lonely. But what's with that expression of yours? It looks like you've been stabbed in the back."
The Monkey King awkwardly turned his head away and stopped replying.
Then Ye He said in her ear: "For twenty years, I've never felt lonely. Because he's in my dreams. With him, how could I be lonely?"
The Monkey King gazed at her profile but couldn't find a word to say.
five
The Monkey King has been staying in the mortal realm for nearly a month.
The mighty Wine Immortal listened to the ramblings of a mortal woman for a whole month.
Ye He chattered in his ear all day long, and sometimes, when she was in the mood, she would have a few drinks with him. Perhaps it was the carefree and leisurely demeanor of the Monkey King that made the Ye family patriarch lower his guard a lot, and the marriage that was originally imminent was postponed for a while at Ye He's request.
Ye He said: "If we keep pushing this around, this matter will just fade away. Don't worry, I guarantee you can leave just as easily as you came here."
Leave the same way you came.
The Monkey King smiled bitterly to himself. Looking at the radiant face before him, his mind was in turmoil. But she seemed oblivious, still filling her wine cup, tilting her head back to drink it all, gazing out the window at the orioles singing in the willows, and saying, "You see, I'm still very happy with you here. At least I can tell you many things on my mind."
The withered tree in the courtyard looked particularly ugly and old in the beautiful spring light. Ye He withdrew her gaze and looked at the person opposite her, and asked again: Where exactly did you come from?
"Where did you come from?" The Great Sage Equaling Heaven, who came from the heavens, sighed inwardly, fearing that such an answer would frighten this mortal.
"Um... I come from a very far place." He raised an eyebrow, downed a glass of wine, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "What if you can't wait for that person? Will you grow old alone?"
Upon hearing his words, Ye He's smile froze on her face. She paused for a moment before saying, "I never thought about what would happen if I couldn't wait for him."
Seemingly unable to bear it any longer, the Monkey King stood up, his face cold, and said to her: "You only believe he will come back to you, that you will wait for him. But what if there is no such person in this world, and it's all just your wishful thinking? Ye He, how will you face yourself then!"
Ye He seemed to have never seen the person in front of her so cold and stern. Whether carefree and unrestrained, or roguish and sharp-tongued, this person should never be this cold and stern.
The Monkey King gazed silently at the person before him, and suddenly a string of tears rolled down her round eyes. These tears made him tremble, and he forgot to breathe. However, as the tears disintegrated in the spring sunlight, he heard her say: No, he will not leave me alone.
The Monkey King had no idea how he escaped from the Ye family mansion, nor how he managed to return to the Heavenly Realm.
He summoned Feiyun and flew straight up to the Seventh Heaven. It was still that same green pine tree, and under the pine tree, Yuanmijun was still sleeping soundly on the stone table.
Yuanmi-kun is still asleep; a day in heaven is a year on earth.
A cool breeze blew across the Seventh Heaven, free from the hustle and bustle of the mortal world and the scorching heat of everyday life. The Great Sage Equaling Heaven sat on a stone bench, panting. He covered his chest with his hand, feeling as if his heart was about to leap out of his chest.
Just a moment later, the Monkey King summoned Flying Cloud and went in another direction.
They went to the residence of the Star Lord of Fate.
Asking the God of Destiny to check the fate of a mortal is a trivial matter. However, to the God of Destiny's surprise, Ye He's fate was not recorded in the Book of Fate.
"Fellow immortal, did you perhaps submit the wrong birth chart?" The Star Lord of Destiny, looking at the bewildered Wine Immortal, said confidently, "If the birth chart were correct, she would surely be listed in the Book of Destiny." But after flipping through the Book of Destiny again, he shrugged at the Wine Immortal, "Look, she's not there."
The Monkey King remained stunned. Without knowing her destiny, he wouldn't know if she ever met that person. That girl was incredibly stubborn, destined for loneliness; otherwise, she wouldn't have remained unmarried even in her twenties.
After bidding farewell to the Star Lord of Fate and summoning Feiyun, the Wine Immortal returned to the mortal realm.
Above the clouds, the Monkey King suddenly felt lost. He didn't know what he could do even if he went to the mortal realm. He could tell Ye He that she wasn't on the Book of Fate, and that she was destined to be lonely for life. Therefore, she would never wait for that person.
That's too cruel.
Or tell her not to wait any longer, to find someone to marry quickly. That way, at least she'll have someone to rely on in this life.
But he couldn't bear to. He couldn't bear to persuade her like that.
Even the usually calm and collected Wine Immortal has moments of utter turmoil. If Lord Yuanmi of the Seventh Heaven knew this, he would surely laugh his head off.
