Chapter 192 The Search for the Divine Artifact and Numerous Perils

Conan and his friends, carrying the Shield of Light, set off hopefully towards the next location indicated on the map: a mysterious swamp where the Guardian Ring was said to be hidden. Stepping onto the edge of the swamp, a putrid stench assaulted their senses. Before them stretched an endless expanse of mud, dotted with a few withered trees whose branches twisted like the claws of demons.

"This swamp looks dangerous; we need to be extra careful." Conan's expression was serious as he tightened his gear.

Nightshade crouched down, observing the ground: "Judging from the state of this swamp, we could easily sink in if we're not careful. Everyone, stay close to me and follow where I've been." With that, he carefully took his first step, testing each step before signaling for everyone to follow.

The group lined up and slowly moved forward along the path left by the shadowy figure in the night. Suddenly, Lin Yu slipped, and half of his body sank into the mud. He struggled in terror, but the more he struggled, the deeper he sank.

"Don't move!" Conan shouted, quickly taking a rope from his backpack, tying one end to a nearby dead tree, and throwing the other end to Lin Yu. "Grab the rope!"

In a panic, Lin Yu grabbed the rope, and Conan, Ran Mouri, and Nightshade worked together to pull Lin Yu out of the mud.

"Phew, that was close, I almost didn't make it out." Lin Yu was still shaken, his face pale.

After some twists and turns, they continued deeper into the swamp. Suddenly, the calm surface of the swamp began to churn violently, and a huge tentacle shot out from the mud, reaching out to grab Ran.

"Watch out!" Conan shouted.

Ran Mouri reacted quickly, dodging the tentacle attack with a sidestep. Immediately afterwards, more tentacles stretched out from all directions, surrounding the group.

"What are these things?" Ai Haibara asked in surprise as she looked at the tentacles.

Conan observed the tentacles' movements and discovered that they seemed to be controlled by some kind of signal, extending from a relatively concentrated area. "Everyone, attack the base of the tentacles! That might be the key!" Conan shouted.

Nightshade flashed forward, swiftly approaching one of the tentacles. A short knife had appeared in his hand, and he stabbed it viciously at the base of the tentacle. The tentacle, in pain, recoiled sharply. Ran Mouri, not to be outdone, unleashed a flurry of kicks at the approaching tentacle using karate. Lin Yu, meanwhile, used his high-tech equipment to fire lasers, slicing through the tentacles. Conan and Ai Haibara searched for the tentacles' weak points, directing the attack.

With everyone's combined attack, the tentacles gradually became less ferocious. Suddenly, an exceptionally thick tentacle emerged from the mud and lashed out at Conan with incredible speed. Conan couldn't dodge in time and was struck by the tentacle, falling to the ground.

"Conan!" Seeing this, Ran Mouri was extremely anxious and rushed towards Conan without regard for the danger. At the same time, she kicked the tentacle hard, forcing it back.

Conan quickly got up and joined the others in continuing the fight against the tentacles. After a fierce battle, they finally managed to repel the tentacles. The swamp gradually returned to calm, as if nothing had happened.

After a short rest, the group continued their search for the Guardian Ring in the swamp. After a careful search, Ai Haibara found a small, faintly glowing box inside a hollow of a dead tree. She carefully opened the box, and inside lay a ring inlaid with a blue gemstone—the Guardian Ring.

"Found it!" Ai Haibara shouted excitedly.

Conan and the others gathered around, their hearts filled with joy as they looked at the ring. They had successfully found the second artifact, bringing them one step closer to breaking the curse on the mysterious island.

Carrying the Guardian Ring, they headed towards their final destination—an ancient library. Hidden deep within a dense forest, the library was shrouded in an aura of mystery. Its doors were tightly shut, covered in ancient runes.

Conan stepped forward and carefully studied the runes, trying to find a way to open the door. After some thought, he discovered that the arrangement of the runes was related to an ancient script he had seen in the Sage's Chamber. Using his knowledge of this script, Conan touched the runes in a specific order, and the door slowly opened.

The library was dark and damp, with shelves filled with various old books that exuded a musty smell. Dust swirled in the light streaming through the windows, as if telling tales of the vicissitudes of time.

"The Book of Wisdom is in here. Everyone, spread out and look for it," Conan said.

The group began searching for the Book of Wisdom among the bookshelves. However, the library seemed endless, with its intricate and complex bookshelves. They wandered around for a long time but still couldn't find what they were looking for.

"How long will it take to find it?" Lin Yu asked anxiously.

Just then, Conan noticed that the books on the bookshelves seemed to follow a certain pattern. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the topics of the books on each row of shelves were related to a specific field of knowledge, and these fields all seemed to have some connection to breaking the curse.

“I think I know how to find it,” Conan said. “Since the Book of Wisdom is related to breaking curses, it should be in the section of books related to curses and magic.”

Following Conan's deduction, the group searched the possible areas. Finally, in a secluded corner, they discovered a book emitting a strange light, with the words "Book of Wisdom" inscribed on its cover.

Conan stepped forward and gently picked up the Book of Wisdom. The instant he picked it up, the library began to shake violently, and books on the shelves fell to the ground.

"Oh no! We might have triggered some kind of trap!" Conan shouted. "We need to get out of here right now!"

The group ran towards the library door, but the door slowly closed. Strange patterns appeared on the surrounding walls, and the monsters in the patterns seemed to come alive, lunging at them.
