Chapter 149 Before the Storm Arrives, Let's Be Happy (2)

The torrential rain didn't stop until the early hours of the morning.

Shang Wu nestled in Lu Rang's arms, buried her head and slept for a while, feeling unbearably thirsty.

She gently pushed Lu Rang's hand away, wanting to go down to get a drink of water, but Lu Rang grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.

"Where to?" Lu Rang asked without opening his eyes, his voice clearly sleepy, his arms wrapped around Shang Wu's waist to prevent her from leaving.

Shang Wu smiled and nudged him, saying, "I'm going to get some water, I'm dying of thirst."

Lu Rang thought of her sobs and pleas for mercy, and smiled slightly: "Wait."

He got up to pour water for Shang Wu.

Shang Wu sat barefoot on the edge of the bed and waited, swinging her toes idly and looking out the window.

Before dawn, there were many banana trees around Wanhu Lake, each adorned with jasmine-shaped streetlights, bathing the entire lake in a soft, warm glow.

Suddenly, Shang Wu caught a glimpse of several people walking around.

Unlike the black-clad bodyguards patrolling Wanhu Lake, they were all wearing white coats.

It looked like a whole medical team, each person carrying a medicine kit, walking hurriedly, as if they were passing by on their way to Lu Zheng's residence.

It's so late, how can I call the doctor over?

Shang Wu grabbed her coat and put it on.

She went up to the second-floor terrace and waited until the group was close enough to hear each other clearly before asking.

"Is Lu Zheng feeling unwell?"

Several people looked up at her at the same time.

Everyone was wearing masks, so their expressions were not clearly visible, but if you looked closely at the upper half of their faces, you could tell that they all had very serious expressions.

The doctor at the front paused, then said in a low voice, "Mr. Lu is not feeling unwell."

Shang Wu wanted to ask more questions, but the group of people quickened their pace and left without prior arrangement.

She frowned and watched them enter Lu Zheng's villa, feeling a little strange.

"You're not wearing your shoes properly again."

Lu Rang brought in water.

Upon hearing this, Shang Wu turned around and sat down on the edge of the bed. Her feet were just dangling in the air when Lu Rang grabbed them and warmed them.

"Water," Lu Rang reminded him.

Shang Wu drank the water from the table, then playfully poked his abs with her toes.

Lu Rang raised an eyebrow: "Want to come again?"

"No, no, I'm tired." Shang Wu straightened her back as if begging for mercy, but then slumped back down feeling even more sore.

Lu Rang looked up at her: "Does it hurt? How was the experience?"

Shang Wu choked, her face turning red from his question, and she sighed with a mixture of embarrassment, annoyance, and helplessness.

Why are you being so blunt? How am I supposed to answer that?

Lu Rang chuckled, "Then give me a score, out of ten."

"Nine points," Shang Wu said.

Lu Rang was not convinced and looked directly at her, slightly aggrieved: "Where was that point deducted?"

Shang Wu blinked: "No, I just wanted to deduct it."

Lu Rang chuckled softly, then got up and kissed Shang Wu's lips.

The two kissed quietly for a while before Shang Wu remembered what had just happened and turned her head to find an opportunity to speak.

"By the way, when you went to get water just now, I saw a lot of doctors going to your father's place. Why don't you call Qianjue and ask if something happened to him?"

Lu Rang frowned, but didn't care: "He's always accompanied by a medical team, and he's in very good health. We don't need to worry about him."

"Just in case, we're having our engagement party tonight. Your father is supposed to officiate, right? What if he's not feeling well?" Shang Wu insisted that he make the call.

Lu Rang couldn't refuse, so he had no choice but to call Qian Jue.

After asking, Qianjue remained silent for a moment before saying, "Don't worry, the master is fine; it's just a routine check-up."

Shang Wu listened, nodded hesitantly, and gestured for Lu Rang to hang up the phone.

Do routine checks need to be done in the early morning?

She didn't ask any more questions, and seeing that it was still dark, she pulled Lu Rang to sleep again.

Until daybreak.

Shang Wu smelled the aroma coming from downstairs.

She squinted lazily, not wanting to move, but the door was open, and the smell kept getting into her nose.

Shang Wu's stomach couldn't help but rumble.

Suddenly, a large hand covered her stomach from under the covers.

Shang Wu took a deep breath of the aroma of the food.

Lu Rang casually pressed the phone button on the bedside table.

The landline telephone line is connected downstairs.

The maid came upstairs, stood at the door with her eyes downcast, and asked softly, "Young master, breakfast is ready."

"Bring it up."

Lu Rang gave an order.

After the maid came downstairs, he hugged Shang Wu tightly and rubbed her stomach.

Shang Wu was taken aback, but felt a warm feeling in her heart.

When she first met Lu Rang, she thought he was a money-grubbing, difficult, and trouble-averse lawyer. She never imagined they would end up together, nor did she expect Lu Rang to be so good to her when they were dating, to the point that he practically fawned over her.

Shang Wu took Lu Rang's hand and shook it, signaling him to open his eyes.

Lu Rang looked up and saw her serious expression: "What's wrong?"

"I'm really happy and honored to be with you," Shang Wu said earnestly.

Lu Rang was pleased and laughed.

He usually wore an indifferent expression, but he smiled more often in front of Shang Wu than in front of anyone else.

That's why Shang Wu loved seeing him smile and would chase after him to kiss the corner of Lu Rang's lips.

The two cuddled together for a while, then finished breakfast and went to wash up.

Shang Wu was taking a bath when Lu Rang pulled her into his arms from behind.

As steam rose, she pushed Lu Rang's arm and hurriedly turned off the shower.

"Your arm can't get wet, get out of here now."

Lu Rang ignored her and buried his face in her neck.

Shang Wu couldn't stand the tickling and chuckled, "Don't leave any marks on me, I still have to wear my engagement dress."

She should have kept quiet, because the moment she did, Lu Rang bit her, not too hard, not too soft.

Shang Wu felt a bit of pain, gasped, and pushed Lu Rang away.
