Chapter 96 Those who cause trouble will not escape.

Zhou Yanci turned to the side and saw Lu Rang enter; her expression instantly turned ugly.

What are you doing here?

Lu Rang walked straight in without pausing, as if he didn't see the displeasure written all over his face.

He walked past Zhou Yanci, came to Shang Wu, took the contents of the thermos out of the container, and placed it on the table.

"Dinner's ready."

Seeing this, Zhou Yanci gritted her teeth and looked at Shang Wu, demanding, "Why is he here? Didn't you fire him and say you'd never have anything to do with him again? Tell me, why is he here!"

His words carried a hint of displeasure and a demanding tone.

Before Shang Wu could speak, Lu Rang's lips curled into a very subtle, almost mocking smile.

He stared coldly at Zhou Yanci: "If I don't bring her food, who will? Is it Aying, who's still busy at the company? Or Xiao Dong, who's investigating the car accident for you? Or—"

Lu Rang's tone was meaningful: "Or is it you, a useless person sitting in a wheelchair?"

One sentence instantly froze the atmosphere in the entire ward.

Zhou Yanci gritted her teeth in anger, staring intently at Lu Rang. Her hands, which were resting on the armrests of the wheelchair, tightened suddenly, her knuckles turning a faint white from the force.

He looked at the food on the table and scoffed, "Shang Wu must have been blind to ask you to take care of her. You have no idea what she likes to eat. Only I know A-Wu's preferences. She doesn't eat green peppers."

Lu Rang took the bowl out of the thermos and placed it on the table in front of Shang Wu.

He said coldly, "You shouldn't just treat your brain. Go see an ophthalmologist. I brought winter melon and pork rib soup, but I didn't put any green peppers in it, not even one."

Lu Rang's voice was steady and cold, each word striking Zhou Yanci clearly.

Zhou Yanci was instantly embarrassed.

He was about to speak again when Shang Wu suddenly broke the tense atmosphere between them.

"alright."

She leaned against the pillows, her face pale, but her eyes were calm and unwavering as she looked at Zhou Yanci in the wheelchair.

"You should go back first. Don't run around if you have a concussion. Just rest well."

Her voice was soft, yet carried a faint hint of command.

Zhou Yanci's body jolted, provoked by her indifferent tone.

He turned to look at Shang Wu, his eyes filled with disbelief and astonishment.

"You actually want to kick me out and let him stay? You still have feelings for him?"

Shang Wu slowly frowned, her eyes growing increasingly indifferent.

She said coldly, "I'm doing this for your sake. What are you doing here instead of recuperating?"

Zhou Yanci was speechless, and in anger, she raised her hand and slammed the call button on the wheelchair.

The nurse quickly pushed the door open and came in with a professional smile on her face.

"Walk!"

Zhou Yan squeezed out a single word through gritted teeth, his tone heavy with hostility.

The nurse was startled by his words and quickly stepped forward to push the wheelchair.

The wheelchair turned around.

Just as Zhou Yanci was about to leave, she turned to look at Shang Wu, a meaningful glint in her eyes.

"Anyway, you're going to get the marriage certificate with me tomorrow."

Lu Rang glanced at the doorway without leaving a trace, his brows furrowing slightly, before silently handing the bowl and chopsticks to Shang Wu.

The fragrant aroma of the pork ribs rose and spread.

Shang Wu was indeed a little hungry. She picked up the spoon, then looked at Lu Rang with a hint of hesitation.

Lu Rang urged calmly, "Drink it while it's hot."

His voice was low and emotionless.

Shang Wu leaned against the hospital bed and asked cautiously, "Are you angry? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Lu Rang paused, looking at her: "Why do you ask that?"

Shang Wu didn't know why she asked that question.

Her eyelashes fluttered.

“Even with this marriage protection law, I’m still going to get the marriage certificate with Zhou Yanci tomorrow. He feels that everything is too coincidental, too many things just happen to be obstacles to us getting the certificate. Even if he still has a concussion and can’t be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, we’re still going to get the certificate.”

After Shang Wu finished speaking, she looked at Lu Rang's deep, pool-like eyes.

She said softly, "I also think that the enactment of this marriage law was very timely. Why did the marriage law come out just when I was facing the crisis of getting a marriage certificate with Zhou Yanci? Does it have anything to do with you?"

Lu Rang's gaze paused slightly, then he said calmly, "What if it has something to do with me?"

Shang Wu asked, "How did you do that?"

Lu Rang pursed his lips and remained silent.

A faint silence filled the space between the two.

Just then, a sudden cell phone ring broke the atmosphere between them.

Shang Wu also sensed that Lu Rang did not want to reveal his identity, nor did he want to lie or make up an excuse to gloss over the matter, so she remained silent.

She didn't ask any further questions, but simply reached for her vibrating phone on her right.

The screen was lit up, and the caller ID displayed two words—Aying.

Shang Wu pressed the answer button and held the phone to her ear.

"Speak." Her voice was very soft, without any inflection.

Aying's voice came from the other end of the phone: "President Shang, I've found out. The original sender of the photos that were leaked to Mr. Zhou was Chen Mian. She sent them to Mr. Zhou's private lawyer via email, and that lawyer then forwarded them to Mr. Zhou."

Shang Wu slowly narrowed her eyes, a layer of invisible frost forming in her gaze.

Her face was expressionless, but a sharp, cold smile appeared on her face.

"What's the lawyer's name? Lu Wuwei?"

“Yes, Lu Wuwei.” Aying’s tone was slightly surprised, as if she hadn’t expected that she would guess it was this person.

"knew."

Shang Wu spoke into the microphone, uttering those three words in a soft voice, yet with an unmistakable chill in it.
