Divorced, The Military Officer Ex-Husband Begs to Remarry

Ye Xiaohua, a programmer from a big tech company, fainted at her workstation due to consecutive days of overtime.

When she woke up, she had transmigrated into the body of an 80s village girl ...

Chapter 22 Who are you talking to on the phone that makes you laugh so happily?

He Yan glanced at the money in her hand. Judging by its appearance, it was quite a lot. Two thousand yuan was still a huge sum of money in this era. Admittedly, He Yan had a high military rank and a high position. His annual salary plus allowances and subsidies amounted to a little over ten thousand yuan, but less than twenty thousand yuan. He Yan had watched Xiao Hua bring the two thousand yuan home from outside.

It's clear that she went out at noon to do translation work for someone, and that's how she was paid. What kind of translation work is worth 2,000 yuan?

That man definitely has ulterior motives!

He Yan clenched his fists. He wanted to question her, "Have you ever thought about why that man would give you so much money?" But then he thought about his position and how he could question her. He and Ye Xiaohua were just a couple in name only.

"Mom and Dad played with me for a long time and they're tired, so why don't you treat them to a meal?"

Kang An is currently in a relatively new state of mind with He Yan, and wishes she could have He Yan with her all the time.

Looking at her daughter's expectant eyes, Xiaohua felt a pang of guilt.

"Alright, let's take him with us then!"

Xiao Hua spoke up, and Kang An happily hugged He Yan's leg: "Toy Daddy, my mom agreed, you can come with us to have Western food!"

The newly opened Western restaurant wasn't far from their home, and the three of them walked there.

Kang An was in the middle, holding his mother's hand with one hand and his father's hand with the other, jumping and swinging his hands back and forth.

Xiao Hua had never seen Kang An so happy. She thought that Kang An's decision to acknowledge He Yan was the right one, at least it would make her daughter happy.

The most important thing in life is to be happy; nothing else matters.

Looking at the three of them like this, He Yan felt a warm current welling up in his heart, as if they were a very happy family of three. It would be nice if the three of them could stay together like this forever.

As Xiaohua passed a public phone booth, she thought about calling Zhou Musheng to thank him, since he had introduced her to many jobs during this period.

"You and Dad wait here for me, Mom is going to make a phone call."

As she spoke, Xiao Hua let go of Kang An's hand and then instructed He Yan, "Keep an eye on the child. I'll go make a call and be right there."

He Yan asked instinctively, "Who did you call?"

Xiaohua gave him a look that said, "None of your business."

He Yan deliberately led the child forward in small steps, wanting to get closer to the public phone booth so he could find out who Xiao Hua was talking to. Having served in the army for many years, he was always sharp-eared and could hear even the slightest sound.

Then I heard Xiaohua speak softly into the phone: "Hello, is this Mr. Zhou? This is Xiaohua."

After hearing something said over there, Xiaohua smiled and said, "Mr. Zhou, you really flatter me. I am not worthy of your praise."

After Xiaohua finished speaking, she listened carefully to the person on the phone, a faint smile always on her face.

Finally, she said, "Mr. Zhou, it's settled then. I'll treat you to dinner next Monday night. Please be on time for the appointment. Thank you for taking care of me during this time."

After hanging up the phone, He Yan pulled Kang An's hand and took a few steps back, pretending that he hadn't heard anything.

When Xiaohua came out of the phone booth, He Yan asked with a hint of jealousy, "Who were you talking to? You were laughing so happily!"

Xiaohua rolled her eyes at him: "Mind your own business!"

"Ye Xiaohua, I've noticed that you're all smiles and laughter when you're with other men, but you always have a sour face towards me, like I owe you money."

"If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it!"

After Ye Xiaohua finished speaking, she squatted down, picked up Kang An, ignored him, and walked straight ahead.

He Yan quickly followed them to the restaurant.

The three of them sat down. Xiaohua ordered some things for herself and the child, without asking He Yan what he wanted to eat. He Yan glanced at the menu and ordered a steak and a glass of orange juice.

"Ye Xiaohua, would you like to have a formal and respectable job? If so, I can arrange one for you."

He Yan didn't want Ye Xiaohua to keep showing her face in public and taking on jobs. It wasn't that he was prejudiced against her current work, but rather that he didn't want Ye Xiaohua to have any further contact with those men.

While feeding Kang An, Xiao Hua asked He Yan sarcastically, "What, am I out stealing? Or robbing? Or selling myself? How is my job no longer respectable?"

Seeing that Xiaohua was clearly angry with her furrowed brows, He Yan quickly explained, "That's not what I meant. I was thinking that having a stable job would be better than what you're doing now. With a stable job, you can spend more time with your child. Kang'an will be starting kindergarten soon, and you'll have to pick her up and drop her off and accompany her to all sorts of craft classes. Our military can arrange jobs for family members. If you're willing, I'll talk to the higher-ups and arrange a relaxed and simple clerical job for you. Wouldn't that be better than what you're doing now?"

He Yan wanted to arrange a simple clerical job for Xiao Hua in the army so that she could bring her child and accompany him to the military base. That would be the best solution.

“What’s wrong with me being like this? I can earn 2,000 yuan for a translation job. The clerical job you arranged for me only pays me three or five hundred yuan a month at most. What am I supposed to do with that little money? Buy flowers to wear?”

"If you think the money is too little, I can give you all my salary and allowances, and you can use them as you see fit."

He Yan felt that he earned quite a bit each month, enough to make Xiao Hua and her daughter live a life of luxury.

"I don't care!" Little Flower coldly replied with three words.

"You think it's realistic that you can get 2,000 yuan for a translation job? This man definitely has ulterior motives towards you. I don't believe you can't sense it."
