Divorced, The Military Officer Ex-Husband Begs to Remarry

Ye Xiaohua, a programmer from a big tech company, fainted at her workstation due to consecutive days of overtime.

When she woke up, she had transmigrated into the body of an 80s village girl ...

Chapter 8 Commander He takes He Yan to Xiao Hua's hometown

He Yan had submitted his divorce papers three years ago, and the higher authorities began the review process. Out of respect for He Yan's father, He Yan's superior called Commander He to inform him that the higher-ups had approved He Yan's divorce papers.

Commander He is a workaholic and cares nothing about family matters, so he is completely unaware of Xiao Hua and He Yan's relationship. In recent years, he has been away from home and has not returned.

Upon learning that He Yan wanted to divorce Xiao Hua, she was shocked and immediately called He Yan, giving him a thorough dressing-down. She accused him of being ungrateful and said that Xiao Hua's father had saved her life.

He was scolded again by He Yan's mother, Su Qin. Su Qin lied to Commander He, saying that Xiao Hua had miscarried long ago in order to cheat He Yan out of his salary and allowances, and kept it a secret from He Yan.

They also said that Xiaohua already has a lover back in her hometown, and they've even had children together, but they haven't registered the marriage. The reason she's dragging her feet on divorcing He Yan is that she wants to extort 30,000 yuan from him. He Yan doesn't agree, so she's thinking of automatically divorcing him after three years of separation.

Su Qin described Xiao Hua and her family as utterly wicked and despicable.

Commander He was so angry that he hung up the phone and ordered He Yan to go with him to Xiao Hua's hometown to find out the truth. He was too lazy to believe the nonsense his family was spouting. He knew that He Yan's mother looked down on country folk the most, and her words were not to be trusted.

He Ya was somewhat wary of her father. Commander He was the kind of person who commanded respect without being angry, and his mere presence was enough to make people tremble with fear.

"Mom, what if Dad finds out that the truth is different from what we told him? He'll definitely not let us off the hook."

Su Qin was also very worried. She knew that her husband had a straightforward and explosive temper. When he got angry, even a dog would get slapped twice if it walked past him.

"You've seen that child before. She doesn't look like He Yan at all when he was a child. She's so fat that her eyes can't even open. He Yan's eyes are so big. Everyone says that daughters resemble their fathers. Look at that child, how does she resemble He Yan? She's clearly not He Yan's child. And I don't believe that you can get her pregnant on the first try."

Besides, He Yan was drugged. It's questionable whether a drugged man can even react. That child is definitely not He Yan's. Even if the Ye family is shameless and in the wrong, does your father really intend to force his son to wear this green hat and acknowledge a bastard as his granddaughter?

Su Qin was quite certain that the child was He Yan's. He Yan was incredibly handsome at birth; no one in the military compound, whether boy or girl, was more handsome than him. Ye Xiaohua's child was chubby and had small eyes; there was absolutely no resemblance to He Yan.

Hearing Su Qin say this, He Ya felt much more at ease.

"Mom, you're right. No matter how upright Dad is, he wouldn't force his son to wear a green hat. At most, he'd be angry that we kept it from him and didn't tell him three years ago."

Commander He dragged He Yan onto the train to Ye Xiaohua's hometown.

Commander He's brows were tightly furrowed, and He Yan, seeing his father's murderous expression, wanted to say something but swallowed it back.

He had 30,000 yuan in his bag. Three years ago, he didn't want to give it to her, but three years later, he wanted to. It's just 30,000 yuan. If she loves money, then he'll give it to her.

He doesn't need the 30,000 yuan. After giving it to them, they will have no further connection. Consider it as the 30,000 yuan for the unborn child!

That night they did everything they should and shouldn't have done, and the child is very likely their own.

When they arrived at Xiaohua's house, Xiaohua and her third brother had gone to the county town to register for the college entrance examination, leaving the child at home with Mao Dani.

When the military jeep arrived at her house, many villagers gathered around to watch the spectacle. They had seen cars before, but they rarely saw military jeeps. The last time they had seen one was many years ago when Commander He took young He Yan to see Ye Dazhuang for treatment.

Hearing a noise at the door, Mao Dani quickly came out and saw that the people getting out of the car were Commander He and He Yan, whom she hadn't seen for many years. She happily exclaimed, "Oh my, isn't this my high-ranking official in-laws and son-in-law? What brings you both here?"

Commander He and He Yan found Mao Dani's attitude towards them strange; it sounded as if He Yan and Xiao Hua hadn't gotten a divorce and were still happily together.

The mother-in-law was overjoyed to see her in-laws and son-in-law; she didn't look like the two families were about to get a divorce at all.

"Kang An, come out quickly and see who's here."

Kang'an was playing with her cousin throwing stones inside when she heard her grandmother calling her, so she quickly came out.

Sweetie asked, "Grandma, why did you call me?"

Mao Dani scooped Kang An up and gave her a big kiss: "My dear granddaughter, your grandpa and your dad have come to see you."

Kang An looked at the two strangers in front of her, then looked at Mao Dani with a puzzled expression: "Grandma, what does 'biological grandfather' and 'biological father' mean?"

In her mind, there were no people like grandfather and father. When she went back to her hometown, Xiaohua told Kang'an, "If your maternal grandparents ask about your father, just tell them that your father works outside and rarely comes back. I don't remember what your father looks like."

Compared to Kang An's confusion, Commander He and He Yan were greatly shocked. Commander He's eyes were like knives as he glared at his son.

That look seemed to be a soul-searching interrogation directed at her son: "Explain yourself properly! Didn't you say the baby was lost? Didn't you say she had another child with someone else? This child looks exactly like you when you were a kid! How dare you say it's not yours?"

He Yan was also innocent; he had only heard it from his mother, and he had never doubted what she said.

But the reality was that what his mother said was completely different from what he saw. From the moment he saw the child, he no longer doubted whether the child was his own. His appearance and demeanor were simply a miniature version of himself.

Mao Dani pretended that the child hadn't understood what she was saying and didn't take it seriously. She shoved the child into He Yan's arms and said, "Alright, your real dad is back. Hurry up and warm up to your real dad."

Then, grinning broadly and enthusiastically, he said to Commander He, "Please come in, my dear in-law!"

Then, shouting at his grandson Shuanzi who was standing at the door, he said, "Shuanzi, hurry up and go to the field and call your grandpa, your uncle, and your dad back. Tell them we have important guests."

When Kang An was suddenly shoved into the arms of a strange man by her grandmother, she burst into tears, crying, "Grandma, I'm scared! I'm scared!"

He Yan's arms were stiff as he held the child. Commander He saw this and went to take the child: "Come, come, Grandpa will hold you. We don't want Daddy to hold us."

Seeing Commander He's serious expression, Kang An cried even harder.

Helpless, Mao Dani had no choice but to take the child into her arms and tap her little head: "How can you be so ungrateful? This is your own child."

Turning to He Yan, he said, "Look at you, you don't come home often, even your own daughter doesn't want you anymore. No matter how busy you are with work, you should make time to go back and see your wife and children."
