Doctor Song, I'm Just Turning 18

Lin Yue never imagined she'd randomly marry a man she met less than a day before after graduating college.

Ever since she turned 18, her mother went all out introducing her to different m...

Chapter 171 Divorce

After leaving the airport, he came straight here. In order to recover faster and better, he handed his phone to Zhuang Yucheng for safekeeping. Therefore, every message Lin Yue received was sent by Zhuang Yucheng on behalf of Song Yunzheng.

Without even opening WeChat, just seeing that phone was enough for him to imagine how much Lin Yue had suffered over the past month; she must have cried a lot.

The more you try to ignore it, the more you focus on it; the more you focus on it, the more painful it becomes; the more painful it becomes, the more you care.

Song Yunzheng's face was ashen, with faint tear tracks glistening on his eyelids. He reached for his phone, but his hand trembled violently, as if he had Parkinson's disease. He was afraid to face Lin Yue's breakdown.

With weak fingers, I opened WeChat and looked at the 99+ unread messages. The stinging in my nose grew stronger and stronger, until it hurt.

I clicked on it again, and every message that came into view was a voice message. I clicked on the latest one.

That voice, filled with heavy sobs, pierced his eardrums like a sharp sword.

"Song Yunzheng, where have you gone? Why are you avoiding me? Did I do something wrong? Will you come back?"

"Song Yunzheng, I miss you so much..."

"Why is Shanghai so big? Where am I supposed to find you?"

"Song Yunzheng, you can't do this. You don't tell me anything and you hide from me."

"Song Yunzheng, do you still love me?"

"Song Yunzheng, do you... want a divorce?"

As he listened, his eyes grew redder and redder until large, hot tears fell onto the phone screen, blurring the words of longing.

Every word Lin Yue spoke in her voice message felt like a sharp steel knife, mercilessly piercing his heart, causing excruciating pain that made him feel like he was suffocating.

Why is he hurting her again? Why is he making her sad and upset again? What can he do to make things better?

Song Yunzheng slumped back into his chair, seemingly having lost all his strength. His eyes were vacant and lifeless. He clutched his head helplessly and let out a desperate whimper, like a wild beast on the verge of death.

He loves her, how could he not love her? He misses her if he doesn't see her for even a second, and he misses her so much that his bones ache.

My heart was churning like a stormy sea, as if a faint voice was pleading, "Let me get better soon, please, please..."

...

Lin Yue searched in Shanghai for a week without success. It was as if Song Yunzheng had disappeared from her world. She returned to the capital in a daze.

After returning, she did not go back to No. 1 Courtyard first, but took a taxi directly from the airport to Chengye Building.

When the receptionist saw Lin Yue appear in the lobby with her suitcase, she immediately smiled and stepped forward, "Boss lady, are you here to see Mr. Song? Let me help you with your luggage."

Lin Yue looked exhausted, but managed a weak smile. "No need, thank you."

The staff member respectfully returned to their post, watched Lin Yue enter the elevator, and then quickly dialed the boss's office internal line.

Lin Yue arrived at the president's office looking travel-worn. Just as she was about to knock, the door opened from the inside.

Yunxi stood at the door with a smile and quickly took the suitcase from her hands.

"Sister-in-law, come in quickly."

Before turning to close the door, she waved to Zheng Yu, "Go order me lunch and buy some of my favorite desserts now."

"Okay, boss."

He closed the office door, pulled Lin Yue to sit on the sofa, and thoughtfully filled her glass with warm water.

"Yunxi, can you find your brother? Why is he avoiding me? Has he talked to you?"

Lin Yue's eyes were filled with tears, and she desperately wanted to get an answer from her.

Yunxi's fingers, resting on her knees, tightened unconsciously. Her sister-in-law was truly pitiful; she had actually gone to Shanghai to find someone, and in just one week, she had lost a lot of weight.

Her hesitant attitude gave Lin Yue a glimmer of hope.

"He must have talked to you about something, right? Please tell me."

Lin Yue felt like she was standing on the edge of a cliff, unseen by anyone, and she desperately hoped that someone would lend her a hand.

"I beg you..." she said, her voice already trembling with sobs, and large tears streamed down her face.

Yunxi hurriedly pulled out several tissues from the coffee table to wipe her tears, her eyes full of heartache for the girl who was eight years younger than her.

"Sister-in-law, my brother did come to talk to me before he left. He wasn't going on a business trip; he was going for medical treatment..."

Lin Yue's dark pupils suddenly contracted, and she repeated in disbelief, "Go to get treatment?"

Panic and fear surged up at once, and in the next instant, facial expressions gradually spiraled out of control, tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, and she was no longer able to utter a single coherent sentence.

"Waaaaah... He... he's sick somewhere? Will... will he die?"

Why didn't he tell me? Why did he hide away?! I hate him for doing this! I hate him for doing this!

"He's going to die, so what if I die with him..."

Before Yunxi could finish speaking, she was already crying uncontrollably, saying things like "Is she going to die?" between sobs.

The crying was quite loud, and employees passing by outside the office couldn't help but glance over, curious about what was happening inside.

"Sister-in-law! Let me finish what I have to say. My brother has a mental illness, and he went to see a psychologist."

Lin Yue immediately stopped crying, staring at Yun Xi with her big, teary eyes, her face full of shock.

“Ever since you were kidnapped by Chen Kun and suffered a miscarriage, he has been plagued by nightmares and suffers from insomnia every night. He blames himself for every injury you suffer. From that time on, he has become extremely sensitive, suspicious, cautious, and vigilant about everything concerning you. He has always been on edge until this recent accidental fall into the sea, which snapped him and drove him into a dead end.”
