Nuclear fire has burned civilization to ashes, leaving only bones and blood in the wasteland.
I, Lu Zhaoming, an unlucky soul who transmigrated into the apocalypse, found the 'Doomsday Ju...
"Brother, calm down!" Lu Zhaoming's voice echoed in the abandoned factory, carrying a convincing magnetic quality. "I really didn't mean to hurt your brother, I just wanted to help him get rid of this burden!"
He spoke with such sincerity that if he didn't know the truth himself, he would almost believe it.
"Relief? Do you think we're fools?" Xiao Dao was clearly not so easily fooled. He gripped the dagger tighter in his hand, the tip of the blade gleaming coldly in the firelight.
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps approached, and Su Li and Bai Yu arrived.
Su Li's alluring eyes quickly scanned the scene, and she immediately understood the situation.
"Oh, what's going on here?" she said, pulling a bunch of bottles and jars from her bulging medical bag with the speed and agility of an old Chinese medicine doctor. "But judging by this, someone might die."
Bai Yu didn't waste any words. He grabbed a steel pipe and stared warily at the men in black, ready to fight at any moment.
"Don't be impulsive, calm down." Lu Zhaoming comforted Xiaodao while taking out the decoder he got from the Ghost Doctor from his pocket. "This thing is the treasure that can save your brother."
He held up the decoder and waved it in front of Xiao Dao's eyes: "See this? This is specifically designed to break mind control. Only this can bring your brother back to normal."
Xiao Dao looked at the strangely shaped decoder and hesitated.
He glanced at Lu Zhaoming, then at Wang Lei, who was clutching his head in anguish, his eyes filled with struggle.
"You...you're telling the truth?" Xiao Dao's voice trembled slightly, clearly still not quite believing Lu Zhaoming.
"Believe it or not." Lu Zhaoming shrugged, looking indifferent. "Anyway, with your brother in this state, if this drags on any longer, he'll probably really become a cripple."
He paused, then added, "At that point, not only will you be unable to save him, you'll also be in serious trouble."
These words were like the last straw that broke the camel's back, and Xiao Dao's psychological defenses completely collapsed.
He slowly lowered the dagger in his hand, his eyes filled with helplessness and despair.
"Okay, I believe you." Xiao Dao's voice was so low it sounded like it came from hell. "Please...please save my brother."
Seeing this, Lu Zhaoming's lips curled up slightly. He knew he had made the right bet.
Next, Lu Zhaoming carefully placed the decoder on Wang Lei's head and activated the device.
A faint crackling sound came from the air, and Wang Lei's body began to tremble slightly.
A few minutes later, Wang Lei stopped trembling and slowly raised his head.
His eyes were filled with confusion and bewilderment, as if he had forgotten everything that had happened before.
"Where...where am I?" Wang Lei's voice was a little hoarse, as if he hadn't spoken in a long time.
"Brother!" Xiao Dao rushed over excitedly and hugged Wang Lei tightly when he saw that Wang Lei had returned to normal.
"Xiao Dao? What are you doing here?" Wang Lei looked at his younger brother with a puzzled expression.
"Brother, you...you're finally alright!" Xiao Dao cried tears of joy, tears streaming down his face.
Looking at the scene of deep brotherly affection before him, Lu Zhaoming felt a pang of emotion.
"Alright, enough with the sentimentality." He clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention. "Now is not the time for reminiscing; we still have problems to solve."
Wang Lei only noticed his surroundings after hearing Lu Zhaoming's voice.
He saw the men in black approaching step by step, and a look of terror appeared on his face.
"Who...who are they?" Wang Lei's voice trembled slightly, clearly terrified.
“They’re from the Scorpion organization,” Lu Zhaoming explained simply. “They want to take you back and keep you working for them.”
"Scorpion?" Upon hearing this name, Wang Lei's face turned deathly pale. "Why...why would they do this?"
“Because you know some of their secrets,” Lu Zhaoming shrugged. “And they’ve also threatened you with your brother’s life.”
"What?" Upon hearing this, Wang Lei turned sharply to look at Xiao Dao, his eyes filled with shock and anger. "They...they actually dared to threaten you?"
"Brother, don't worry about me!" Xiao Dao quickly said, "As long as you're alright!"
"No, I can't let you risk your lives for me!" Wang Lei shook his head firmly. "Even if I die, I want to die with you!"
"Alright, stop arguing." Lu Zhaoming waved his hand, stopping their quarrel. "The most important thing now is to find a way to get out of here."
He looked around, carefully observing the terrain.
“The terrain here is complex, suitable for guerrilla warfare,” Lu Zhaoming said slowly. “Let’s split up and try to delay as much as possible while we wait for rescue.”
"Rescue? What rescue?" Su Li raised an eyebrow, her face full of disbelief.
“Of course it is…” Lu Zhaoming deliberately kept everyone in suspense, then smiled and said, “It is a secret of heaven that cannot be revealed.”
He turned to look at Bai Yu: "Bai Yu, you're quite skilled. You're in charge of drawing their fire and creating opportunities for them."
"No problem." Bai Yu agreed without hesitation, grabbed the steel pipe, and rushed out.
"Su Li, you're in charge of taking care of Wang Lei and Xiao Dao, and do your best to ensure their safety," Lu Zhaoming continued. "I'll cover the rear and provide support as needed."
"Understood." Su Li nodded, supporting Wang Lei and Xiao Dao, preparing to flank them from the side.
"Remember, never get caught up in a fight. Your priority is survival," Lu Zhaoming instructed. "As long as you're alive, you can always fight again."
