A TV drama from the 90s was once the origin of Yu Yin's nightmares, and its ending theme song deeply influenced her.
Yu Yin's childhood was filled with the sounds of her parents argui...
The holiday is over, and Yu Yin is back at work today.
In the morning, after breakfast, feeding the two little ones, changing their diapers, and grabbing some spare diapers, everything was ready, and we set off.
I must say, this handmade, pushable baby stroller is of good quality. Although the wheels are made of wood and not as good as rubber ones, they're still pretty good.
"Is it alright? Shall I take you there?"
"Go to work now, it's so close, no need to take me."
Yu Yin's home and the county government office are just across the street from each other; they're very close.
When I opened the office door, Sister Wang hadn't arrived yet. Well, in all this time, when had she ever arrived before the original owner? She always got everything ready before Sister Wang came.
When Yu Yin searched for memories of this Sister Wang, they weren't very pleasant.
Well, she wasn't a bad person, just a bit of a bully who preyed on the weak. When the original owner first arrived, she was a helpful senior who offered guidance, and the owner felt she had done a huge favor.
From then on, office cleaning automatically fell to Yu Yin; she didn't lift a finger and even loved to nitpick. The original owner, who didn't like to talk, quietly did a lot of things outside of her job.
Thinking of all this, Yu Yin silently prayed for Sister Wang, feeling sorry for herself. She realized she lacked the qualities to be a good person, and that self-reliance was a virtue, as the great man had said.
Yu Yin found a basin, filled it with water, and used the rag she had brought to wipe her desk several times. For more than a month, Sister Wang hadn't helped her clean it at all; there was a thick layer of dust on it.
Their office wasn't very big, with two desks placed side by side. Yu Yin and Sister Wang sat facing each other, with Yu Yin's desk on the inside. There was just enough space behind it to put a baby stroller.
After cleaning up, the children were wheeled in. The two little ones opened their eyes and looked at Ya Ning. Their little hands, which were exposed, had grown a bit plumper and were no longer skin and bones. Their skin, which had shed its outer layer, had also become smooth.
I just finished cleaning up, took a sip of water, and caught my breath.
They didn't have water bottles in their offices, so they had to go to the main office to get water. In the past, this was the original owner's job. Now, Yu Yin brought her own water bottle, which was filled with spiritual spring water.
The water bottle was sent back by the delivery guy; it was new and a very popular military-style water bottle.
"Hey, Xiaoyu's here! I've missed you so much!"
That's right, she thought she'd come to help you with your work. In the past, Sister Wang would often find excuses to dump her own work on the original owner. From now on, hmph!
"I missed Sister Wang too. I couldn't wait to come as soon as I felt a little better. Oh dear, I'm still not feeling well. I was just tidying up my desk and I'm already sweating so much. I'm still so weak!"
Yu Yin wiped away non-existent sweat with her hand and sat limply in her seat.
Looking at the layer of unwiped dust on her desk, Sister Wang's smile gradually faded. She put down her bag and went to wash the rag.
"Baby, isn't Mommy amazing? Ah, can you understand me?"
"Ah, ah..."
The two little ones responded unconsciously, as if they could understand.
Sister Wang returned shortly after, wiping her table with tremendous effort; Yu Yin felt she was using every ounce of strength she had.
"Sister Wang, you're still in great shape. It would take me a year or two to recover. The doctor warned me not to overwork myself, or I'd develop health problems that could affect my lifespan. I'll have to rely on you from now on."
Hmph, let's see if you still have the nerve to ask me for help in the future. I'll have to give you a good talking to then.
Sister Wang slowed down her wiping of the table and lowered her voice, not responding to Yu Yin's words.
"Xiaoyu's here. How are you feeling? Where's the child? Is he in daycare?"
"Team leader, thank you for your concern. I'm fine with my job, but it will take another year or two to fully recover. I'll need your continued support in the future. I haven't sent my child to daycare yet; I brought him to the office, thinking I'd let you know when you arrived. I didn't expect you to come first. The doctor said the baby was premature and quite weak, so we need to be careful. I haven't sent him to daycare yet, not wanting to cause trouble for others. I'll take care of him myself for now, and send him there once he's fully recovered. I'll have to ask Sister Wang to bear with me during this time; the baby cries occasionally."
After Yu Yin finished speaking, Zhao Jianguo and Sister Wang were both very surprised. Was this still the same Yu Yin who didn't like to talk and just kept to herself?
These words are reasonable and well-founded. They said everything that should be said and didn't mention anything that shouldn't be said. They even indirectly protested that they wouldn't do anything outside their profession in the future.
Zhao Jianguo knew that Sister Wang used to always ask Xiao Yu to help her with chores, but she never complained, so he didn't interfere. From now on, it would be difficult for Sister Wang to slack off; indeed, it was time to cure her laziness.
As for Sister Wang, she couldn't possibly have any objections. What could she say? The work—before, others helped with the tasks, making things easier for her. Now, those people had quit, and with perfectly valid reasons. What could she say? She was in the wrong. The children—that was even worse. She'd brought her own little one over for a while, and Xiao Yu had even helped take care of her. Sigh!
Zhao Jianguo and Sister Wang both said it was no problem and told her to let them know if she needed anything.
On the first day after giving birth, Yu Yin got everything done and made sure everything was clear. From now on, everyone will have a new understanding of her.
Nothing much happened that morning, so Yu Yin sorted out her work during her leave to get a general idea of what she had done.
She then took the baby home to breastfeed, change a diaper, and wash the diaper while she was at it. Luckily, it was close to home, which made things much more convenient. Yu Yin simply couldn't bring herself to breastfeed the baby outside; she couldn't stand it.
"Xiaoyu, it's lunch break, go home."
"Okay, Sister Wang, I'm off now. See you this afternoon."
