Chapter 192 Father Lu's Thunderous Methods

After saying everything that needed to be said, Mr. Lu was quiet in the ward. Apart from Lu Shukang's indignant sigh, no one else spoke.

"Alright, it's settled then. Shu Rui's family has gone to Beijing. We'll all sit down together and write down the agreement when they get back, so we don't run into any trouble later."

After saying this, Mr. Lu waved his hand to signal them to leave, saying that he was tired and the patients also needed rest.

"Lu Shukang, when you get back today, move your things to that small room and clear that room out for me. I need to find someone to fix the house tomorrow."

"dad……"

Lu Shuxia didn't expect her father to be so decisive this time, even going so far as to repair the house.

Lu Shumin left without saying a word.

Lu Shujin pulled Lu Shukang outside; her mother needed to rest and couldn't make a scene here.

Although Lu Shukang was unwilling, he knew that once his father made a decision, no one could change it, so he could only go home dejectedly.

After leaving the hospital, Lu Shujin and Lu Shuxia went their separate ways, unsure of what to say. Lu Shuxia had no expectations of this older brother and always kept to herself.

Mrs. Lu was feeling unwell and fell asleep, while Mr. Lu sat there, lost in thought.

When Lu Shukang returned home, he told Wang Mengyao about his father's decision, and Wang Mengyao immediately exploded.

"What? You want us to move to that small room and empty this one? We've been living in this room since we got married, why should we live in the small one?"

“Your eldest and second eldest brothers both have their own houses, so why should they each get a room? That’s not fair.”

Wang Mengyao stood in the middle of the ground, jumping up and down and shouting at Lu Shukang, spittle flying everywhere.

"Why? Because my mom transferred her job to me, because for so many years, my mom has taken care of our children, provided us with food and drink, and even done our laundry and cooking, which has made her sick."

"You haven't worked for so many years, and you haven't helped Mom with housework much. Mom raised both children single-handedly. How much washing and cleaning have you done all these years? And for so many years, you've saved up my salary while Mom spent all her own savings. In the end, she's malnourished and anemic."

Lu Shukang and Wang Mengyao shouted loudly, tears streaming down their faces. He also felt that he was quite a jerk, no wonder his older siblings looked down on him.

"Alright, stop with the nonsense. When has Dad ever changed his mind? Hurry up and pack your things, or he might just throw them all out tomorrow."

Like many families, Mr. Lu followed the traditional view of the man being the breadwinner and the woman staying at home, and he didn't interfere much in his children's upbringing, only resorting to beatings when they caused trouble. However, Mr. Lu's decisions never changed.

Wang Mengyao had known Lu's father since childhood and knew his temper. After being called out, she also became subdued.

"Lu Shukang, how are the four of us supposed to fit in that tiny room?"

Wang Mengyao packed two things, then helplessly threw them down, unsure where to begin.

"What should we do? How much money do we have left? Maybe we should rent a bigger place to live in for now, and our employers will provide housing after we graduate and start working."

“How much money do we have? You each have a fixed monthly salary, and even if you don’t spend anything, you won’t have much left. After renting a place, there’s food and drink, and the kids’ schooling. How many years will that last? We just started at the company, when will it be our turn to be allocated housing?”

The two people sat in the room, holding their heads in their hands, not knowing what to do.

Over the years, Lu's mother helped take care of the children, managing their food, drink, and daily needs. What did the two of them ever care about? Especially after they went to university, they each went their own way and didn't care about anything.

Despite their frustration and helplessness, the couple finally packed up their belongings and moved into that small room. There was no room for negotiation with Mr. Lu's words.

Looking at the cramped little room, Wang Mengyao ran back to her parents' home and poured out her grievances to her mother.

Wang's mother was helpless; she also had a son of her own. Although she felt sorry for her daughter, there wasn't much she could do to help. Besides, over the years, Mengyao's mother-in-law had been incredibly kind to their family of four.

Wang Mengyao got some money from her mother and went home crying.

Wang's two sisters-in-law rolled their eyes behind her back. This little sister-in-law was a troublemaker; she was sure to cause trouble when she came back.

Lu Shukang's family was crammed into a small room. The two children made a huge fuss and were only quieted down after being beaten.

Meanwhile, Lu's father was taking care of Lu's mother at the hospital. Lu Shuxia brought him dinner, which consisted of chicken soup and steamed buns.

"Alright, you don't need to deliver it tomorrow. I'll just buy some food nearby. There are plenty of places to buy food now. You still have a job, and you can't keep taking time off."

Looking at his second daughter, whose face was flushed and who was panting heavily, Mr. Lu felt a pang of sadness.

"Okay, I really can't come tomorrow. There's a technical exchange meeting at the factory. You and Mom can buy whatever you want to eat. Don't save money; your health is the most important thing. Also, what will happen after Mom is discharged from the hospital? Will Shukang's two kids ever be able to keep quiet?"

Lu Shuxia was also worried. The younger of the two children was alright, but the older one was like a donkey, all he could see was food.

"I'll go find the contractor who's repairing your grandpa's house tomorrow and have him build a wall in front of the house so our house is on the edge and won't affect other people's lives."

Mr. Lu had already made up his mind. He wasn't afraid of airing his dirty laundry in public; the key was to live a good life.

Seeing that her father had made up his mind, Lu Shuxia felt relieved. It was getting dark, and she had to go home.

The next day, after the doctors finished their rounds and the IV drip was finished, and with some time to spare before noon, Mr. Lu told Mrs. Lu to rest in bed while he went to find someone to clean the house.
