Aunt Lu vented her anger before being taken away by Uncle Lu, ruining the atmosphere at Yu Yin's family's home.

I was planning to take the kids on a picnic during my break, but now all of that is ruined.

Grandpa and Grandma went back to their room to rest. I don't know if they were tired or angry, but they looked exhausted and listless.

Aunt Hu prepared a light meal for lunch, but Grandpa and Grandma didn't eat much; they seemed to still be recovering.

Yu Yin felt uneasy. Her grandparents seemed off, especially her grandmother, who had been talking a lot and whose emotions had been fluctuating greatly.

"Shurui, let's take Grandpa and Grandma to the hospital tomorrow. They were quite emotional today, and they still seem very listless after all this time."

"Okay, I'll take the day off tomorrow, and we'll take Grandpa and Grandma to see them together."

Before going to bed that night, Yu Yin went to check on them. Apart from being a little tired, the two elders were fine.

"It's nothing, don't worry, I'm just a little tired. It's been a long time since I've talked so much at once, and I was a bit emotional. I'll be fine after a while."

Grandpa looked at Yu Yin and told her not to worry.

"Okay, if you feel unwell tonight, be sure to call us. Don't be afraid of the hassle and keep quiet."

"Okay, got it."

Yu Yin gently closed the door and went back to her room.

"We're still very lucky to have two filial and good children, Shurui and Yinyin, aren't we?"

"Yeah, I'm lucky. I don't know what's wrong with me today, I just can't control my temper. My third son's wife talks so scary, you'd think she was going to kill her own granddaughter!"

The two elderly people were filled with emotion, unable to understand how people could be like this.

Are Grandpa and Grandma asleep?

"Not yet. She said she was just tired and a little emotional, and that she'd be fine after a good night's sleep. She should be more alert tonight, and it would be best if nothing happened."

Lu Shurui finished tidying up his report and was about to go to sleep. He felt more tired than if he had worked a full day.

"Shu Rui, Shu Rui..."

"Shurui, it sounds like Grandpa is calling you."

Yu Yin woke up first. She vaguely heard shouts, but she didn't know if it was reality or a dream. She woke up in a flash.

"What? Who called me?"

Lu Shurui was woken up and was a little dazed.

"It looks like Grandpa, let's go downstairs and take a look."

The two put on slippers and quickly went downstairs.

"Shurui, Yinyin, your grandma has a fever."

Hearing the door open, Grandpa Lu called out from downstairs.

"What? You have a fever? Is it high? Have you taken your temperature?"

Yu Yin and Lu Shurui asked as they went downstairs.

"I woke up suddenly without having my temperature taken. I felt that the area next to me was very hot, and when I touched it, it felt a little hot to the touch."

The old man was very anxious, and his voice became unstable.

Yu Yin entered the room, touched her grandmother's forehead, and found it was burning hot; she needed to go to the hospital.

Back in 1983, even in bustling metropolises, taxis weren't readily available. It was a little better during the day; there were small, low-cost taxis at rental points where you could register, but these taxis were tiny, only big enough for one person in the back besides the driver.

"Shurui, I'll change Grandma's clothes. You hurry to the dry goods store and call Changqing and the others to bring over two of their tricycles. We'll take Grandma to the hospital."

"Okay, I'll go right now." Lu Shurui went upstairs to change his clothes and rode his bicycle out.

Yu Yin changed her grandmother's clothes, took her temperature, and then used physical methods to cool her down.

"Grandpa, you should change your clothes too and go to the hospital to get checked out. If you get a fever while everyone's at the hospital, it'll be troublesome."

“I have to go, I’m afraid your grandma will be scared by herself.”

The old man, who was over eighty years old, seemed to have lost his backbone.

"Take your time changing your clothes, I'll go wake Aunt Hu up."

"Mom, what's wrong?"

Pingping woke up when she heard the noise and went downstairs to see her mother coming out of her great-grandfather's room.

"Great-Grandma is sick and has a fever. Dad and I are going to take her to the hospital. I'm going to tell Grandma Hu now that you can take my younger siblings to school after breakfast tomorrow and take good care of them."

"Okay, Mom, you don't need to worry about us."

Thirteen-year-old Pingping is already taller than Yu Yin and looks like a big kid.

"Okay, go upstairs to sleep. Mom will go and talk to Grandma Hu."

“I’m going with my mom.”

Yu Yin smiled and took her son's hand, walking together towards the back.

"What? Auntie is sick? Should we go to the hospital?"

Aunt Hu and Zhong Ling both woke up and looked at Yu Yin with anxious expressions.

"Yes, she has a high fever, almost 40 degrees Celsius. We need to go to the hospital right away. Aunt Hu, please lock the door from the inside and cook some extra porridge tomorrow morning. I'll come back and get it."

"Okay, I'll change my clothes now. You should go back and change your clothes too, we need to go to the hospital later."

Yu Yin slapped her forehead, realizing she was still in her pajamas. She quickly went back with Pingping; she needed to get ready too.

After Yu Yin changed her clothes, Lu Shurui returned with Chang Qing and the others.

"Yinyin, how is Grandma?"

"Hurry, Grandma's fever is almost 40 degrees. Hurry up and carry her to the car. Changqing, here's a blanket. Help spread it out."

Yu Yin sat in the car, letting her grandmother lean against her, while her grandfather sat in another tricycle, and the group set off.

Upon arrival at the hospital, a doctor on duty examined me and diagnosed me with pneumonia, requiring hospitalization.

By the time everything was done, it was already past midnight.

"Changqing, you guys go back first. When you're not busy during the day, take some time to catch up on your sleep."

"Sister Yu Yin, don't worry about us. Just let us know if the hospital needs anything."
