Dual Heroes of the Apocalypse

When the apocalypse erupts, it opens the path to the extraordinary. Super energy and the power of pollution constantly erode each other, giving birth to a third entity: those who can integrate both...

Chapter 54 Conflict

"Get down!" Lu Ming unleashed his full power, his eyes instantly turning crimson.

The earth rumbled and the soil softened. Most of the alien's body sank down, and in that instant, Lu Ming's ten fingers transformed into sharp claws.

With a leap, he plunged his ten fingers directly into the gaps in the carapace at the neck, trying to tear the entire head off.

Perhaps the outburst caused Lü Ming to lose some of his rationality. The alien's pincers clamped onto Lü Ming, but Lü Ming ignored them and continued to tear at the alien's head.

It remains to be seen whether the alien will snap Lü Ming in two first, or Lü Ming will tear off the alien's head first.

This is the real life-or-death struggle.

Lü Ming began to bleed from his seven orifices.

"Die!" With a roar, the muscles of the scale-covered arm bulged and burst, accompanied by the complete ripping off of the alien's head.

Dark brown blood splattered, and Lü Ming coughed up several mouthfuls of blood as well, enduring the excruciating pain to support Hua Yansong.

"Xiao Ming, are you alright?" Hua Yansong had seen Lü Ming earlier, but he couldn't spare the time to help him. To his surprise, his prized disciple was still alive and was just like him, or even stronger.

"Don't worry, teacher," she said with a forced smile.

Although Lü Ming was injured, this alien was only comparable to the third stage, at most a little stronger than the third stage. Originally, Hua Yansong could hold it off, but Lü Ming's arrival almost instantly decided the outcome.

After dealing with the alien, Lü Ming collapsed to the ground.

"Send a healing-type evolved human to treat Lü Ming's injuries."

Hua Yansong called out, then said to Lü Ming, "Hold on a little longer, they'll get treatment soon. I'll go help them first."

By snowballing like this, the aliens were quickly eliminated.

When everything settled down, it was already broad daylight. The chaotic and bloody battlefield left everyone somewhat silent. Just five aliens had managed to defeat them like this. If more came, how could they hold out? How many more people would die?

"Logistics, quickly clean up the battlefield! Reconnaissance department, investigate why these aliens are relentlessly attacking us!" Hua Yansong quickly issued the order, getting everyone moving at least to dispel some of his wild thoughts.

The night on the front lines was too brutal; the number of people had been reduced by at least half, and more than 70% were wounded. It would be a miracle if they didn't collapse and flee.

Of course, these are combat personnel; ordinary people rarely get injured or killed.

“If we continue fighting like this, we won’t even be able to protect ourselves. We either have to retreat or bring in ordinary people, otherwise we won’t be able to hold out for long,” the official leader said.

"Untrained ordinary people are useless; they'll only cause more deaths. Hold on for two more days, and reinforcements from other military regions will arrive soon."

"If we can find a safe road, at least we'll have a route to retreat. If all else fails, we can abandon Lijiang City."

Hua Zhiyuan took a deep breath. If the aliens continued their attack, he saw no hope of holding out, and retreating was not something he could do on a whim.

It is difficult for ordinary people to travel hundreds or thousands of kilometers to other military region survivor bases unless they abandon ordinary people. However, there has never been such a precedent in the Great Xia Dynasty since before the founding war. Even if they survived in this way, they would be cursed for the rest of their lives.

He would rather die in battle than accept that.

What are you doing?

"He's a monster; we can't let him live."

"Then I'm a monster too?"

I wasn't talking about you.

The noise attracted the group of people who were discussing the matter.

When Hua Zhiyuan heard his father's voice, he went downstairs and saw a crowd gathered there.

Upon seeing Hua Zhiyuan, the crowd made way for him. The people who had been surrounded were clearly divided into two factions: the military, led by Hua Yansong, and the government, led by Fang Younan and Yang Hai.

"What's wrong?"

Hua Zhiyuan asked.

The soldier beside him replied, "General, they want to get rid of this soldier."

Lu Ming finally recovered. His injuries were quite severe, and he forced himself to stand up despite the excruciating pain. "What are you two afraid of? Why are you in such a hurry to deal with me? What exactly happened that night?"

"Lu Ming, it was too dark that night, we really didn't see the power of pollution," Fang Younan blurted out a lie without thinking.

This answer left Lü Ming speechless. He wouldn't have believed it if Yang Hai had said it, but it was Fang Younan who said it. The two had known each other since the first year of junior high school, a full twelve years, and their relationship had always been quite good. Perhaps they both had feelings for each other, otherwise they wouldn't have become Professor Hua Yansong's students at the same time.

I've given so much, and I've observed her so carefully when she's resting, afraid that any accident might put them in danger, but they don't seem to care about me that much.

"If he hadn't appeared in time, we wouldn't have been able to win this battle so quickly, and many people would have died. Deal with it? Deal with my ass! All of you, go back!" Hua Zhiyuan still had a lot of authority, and his shout silenced the officials.

"Thanks to you this time, go back and rest to recover. If you have any grievances later, you can come to me or your teacher directly," he then said to Lü Ming.

Looking at Yang Hai's hand, Lü Ming was somewhat lost in thought. Were they together?

Why did it happen so quickly? Lü Ming began to reflect on himself.

And so Lü Ming was taken away for treatment.

Gu Lingchuan and the others contacted Lin Yu and learned that their survivor base had not been attacked.

"Why are these superpowered beings attacking the military survivor base so frantically? Could it be that some giant alien is still alive and knows that the military is attacking it, and this is revenge? Or is there something in the military survivor base that attracts aliens?"

One guess after another flashed through Gu Lingchuan's mind. The most reasonable one was that the giant alien was not dead and that it controlled other aliens to attack and retaliate against the military survivor base.

The purpose of the second attack was too obvious: these firearms. If that's the case, it's very troublesome. They can control aliens, and they are intelligent and incredibly powerful.

The thought of withstanding a hydrogen bomb and then attacking a survivor base is terrifying.

No, we have to find it, even if we're wrong, we have to find that alien remains.

Gu Lingchuan himself possessed the ability to search, but unfortunately the area was too small. He still needed Lin Yu's special ability, and the military's satellite perspective couldn't be fully trusted either.

As mentioned before, satellites cannot see newly emerging areas, such as that Gobi Desert. Perhaps the aliens also have this ability.

Gu Lingchuan whistled, and soon a brown swift flew over. Gu Lingchuan wrote a letter and asked it to take it back.

Then he called Bai Ling and Lin An over.

"You two go back and take over our survivor base, replacing your brother. Have your brother come over; I suspect that giant alien isn't dead yet, and we need his abilities to thoroughly search the area."
